I was there. SU won as always, but the song selections were a disappointment. Especially considering there’s no 5th quarter for bayou classic.
And I HATED the format of playing 2-3 whole songs before the next band plays. It was lowkey a boring battle for me.

That said, the booing of the Jukebox throughout the BoomBox Classic by J St fans was filled with animosity and jealousy imo.
Either way, we should applaud our youth and enjoy their performances.

Both Grambling and Southern should exemplify respect during the competition. Our tradition is unmatched and beautiful, but disrespect could misrepresent who we are as HBCU’s! Our recorded history reflects up and down seasons. I am truly Gram-Fam and I hope we can commend each other’s performance. No one has to be bad for the other to be good.

First off, THEM DOLLS DIIIFERENT!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Gram does have their own sound but I will say SU seemed to drain the energy out of them. The crowd didn't make it any better!!! I've noticed something.....when bands (with few exceptions) play against SU their volume decreases and they sound boring because they're trying to keep up with SU volume. I swear if we talking little kids battling each other, some of Gram would've went and joined SU if it wasn't for the big uniform difference. 🤣🤣Just the energy Gram was/wasn't giving.

Some of Grams songs were not rehearsed well enough. Even if the arrangement is wack, it still needs to sound together like a “BAND”, ain’t no practicing when it’s war time!

Speaking from experience directors dgaf they will put the song selection to their wants and the band doesn’t always feel it, quick pumpers can’t play slow jamz and ninjas just wanna play rap songs the whole time but don’t play them enough to fully reach potential why……refer to the first thing I mentioned
Both bands sound good. Southern was a lil top heavy. But all in all I was proud of both band
Grambling DEFINITELY needed more practice time. Southern sounded but definitely NOT at the top of their game.

I get to Boombox Classic early because I want to see the bands enter the stadium, Zero, of course the game, Fifth, and the March out. Bayou Classic BOTB has no energy as I have been going my entire life, and I can not remember a year that World Famed has ever matched or exceeded The Jukebox. I don’t get out of my seat during Boombox, during Bayou Classic I get up, grab drinks, talk…just lack luster.

My high school band had Grambling marching style and we never kept still. You can stand there and play all day of course it's going to sound good but when you're playing and dancing u keep the crown lookin. Southern is just a stand band yes they drill from different sides of the field but that's it
