This track was in response to 9/11 and the healing going on in NYC at the time
Ahhhh gotcha
They put this out after 9/11 to let New York know that The Beastie Boys had their back!
Good stuff, man!
Beasties forever!
🙌🙌🙌
New York is a city that means so much to America. When that city was attacked we all got hurt. We all were New Yorkers on that day. R.I.P M.C.A. and stay New York strong. #GoodVideo!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
IMO, this is the Pinnacle of the Beasties` Craft!
Factsse
This was a amazing song by the Beastie after the 9/11 attack - so good and great video man! Two Towers Down, but we're still in the game.
🙌🙌🙌🙌
Brooklyn NYC raised myself. That Pitch is controlled Feedback. Feed Back occurs when a microphone or a guitar Pick up Picks up its own Signal. This song came out right after 9-11. This song was a trio of Bards giving a whole city a Plus 1 when we really needed it.
Wow thank you for the info
Body movin
Already did it
Thanks for reintroducing this song to me, I haven’t heard this one for awhile. Love it. 😎
This song gets me emotional because they mention so many things that were a part of my life while growing up in NY. It brings back many great memories from my youth. The line "I get my BVDs from VIM" is a reference to a store where everyone buys sneakers, t shirts and underwear. Also mentions Bleeker Bob's which was a landmark Manhattan record store we'd all hang out in. He also mentions the news radio station 1010 WINS,, which every NYer listened to back in the day for weather and news, and "Live at 5"(NBC TV 5 o clock news) and dozens of other references to daily life here.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
As a NYC guy, this is one of my favorite Beastie Boys tracks. In terms of vibe, it reminds me of the old schoolyard raps, dozens, and rhymes NYC kids used to sing in middle school. 🔥 🔥 🔥
So fireee
More crucial Beastie Boys tracks to add to your to do list: Jimmy James, The Maestro, Pass the Mic (Part 2, Skills to Pay the Bills), So Whatcha Want (Soul Assassin Remix Version), The Update, B-Boys Making with the Freak Freak, Flute Loop, Do It, Ricky's Theme (Official Video Version), The Scoop, Unite, Suco De Tangerina (Official Video Version), Crazy Ass Shit, Time to Get Ill (Live Version on the Root Down E.P.).
Some of those songs I’ve already reacted too. Check the playlist.
He already did a few of those
@@StaxReacts different versions.
I went to see Beastie Boys at Brixton Academy, London in 1995 - 'Ill Communication' tour. My friend, G - asked what I hoped they'd play. I said 'Stand Together' from 'Check Your Head' - I hoped but didn't expect. They only went and opened the show with it!!!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
one of their strongest tracks. they are nyc rap, like run dmc, public enemy, wu tang clan, epmd, erik b and rakim, nas, etc.
🔥🔥‼️‼️
An old school Beasties track to try is Rock Hard. It was a single before Licensed To Ill came out. They sampled Back In Black by AC/DC and didn’t get permission, so it never got released again because AC/DC won’t allow sampling of their music.
Bettt
New York is in the house
Let’s gooooo
You want some tips from Check Your Head, I got you! One I’ve been pounding for the last 6 months “Groove Holmes” (Live vs. The Biz) [Remastered] this is an old live recording the Boys are playing the instruments and Biz Markie, god rest his soul, is doing improv lyrics. So dope, Biz and the Beastie Boys had fun together and made some good grooves together! Thanks Youngblood for digging deep into the Beastie Boys. I’m 50 & still jamming all their albums all the time! Most young people these days won’t even give it a chance, but they were god fathers, always innovating, evolving! Big Upps! RESPECT!
🙌🙌🙌‼️‼️‼️
on check your head........STAND TOGETHER/GRATITUDE/WHATCHA WANT.........The whole album is killer.
I’ve done those except stand together
Boomin' Granny is a goofy, fun song. Also need to do Alive - fun, uplifting, Triple Trouble, Right Rigt Now Now. I love the way they play together.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I’m from Queen’s but now live 20 minutes outside Manhattan in Jersey., It is a great place with so much different foods from different cultures. I didn’t realize his big we were until I started visiting cities in other states. I could say growing up as a kid in the 80s and a teen in the 90s was the best time to grow up in this area. I went to many free open air concerts and seen people from Biggie and Pun. I actually saw them both on the same stage in Harlem at a free show called Hoodstock. So many were there from the Fugees, to KRS one and Wutang. It was the best of times. NYC ain’t the same as before but still a great city. It was a different vibe back in the day
Amazing
Maybe their most underrated song
🤲🤲🤲
When the music is GOOD WE KNOW MEN .,
‼️‼️‼️
Beastie Boys never disappoint.
FACTS!!!
🌴🇬🇺 All B Boys catalog worth beeping 🔥Trust
🙌🙌🙌🔥🔥
Flute loop, from check your head
Bettttt
Damn, they had talent and creativity to spare. Nice reaction.
🔥🔥🔥
Sample is from a 1977 punk song called Sonic Reducer, by the The Dead Boys. Beasties started out playing punk and hard core before moving into and becoming primarily rap. This whole album is excellent.
CRASH! I didn't know the sample, thanks, nice one❤
Thank you my so much I’ll check it out
I am a huge fan of their instrumentals, which don't get enough love. They started on CYH (Pow, Grove Holmes), but really hit their stride on Ill Communication. I know there's not much to react to when there's no vocals, but don't sleep on them, especially once you get to Ill Commination (Ricky's Theme being my favorite). Also don't forget about some of the non-album singles from this time period. Resolution Time, Dope Little Song, The Vibes, and my favorite Mullet Head. Also, for the love of God please react to the video for Netty's Girl for the WTF moment.
🙌🙌🙌
The underlying song is Sonic Reducer by The Dead Boys, an early New York punk band.
🌴🇬🇺stay sonically open my gee, thats y we fq w you💪🏾🌴
Thank you brother
CRASH! Yeah fantastic track from 'To the Five Boroughs' album. Just when I thought the production couldn't get any better after 'Hello Nasty' album they go & surpass themselves AGAIN. Each Beastie album is better than the previous. Nice one Stax, good job! CRASH! ❤
Thank you so much
i love this song, masterpiece for the music and message.
they got inspired by a rock band of their time: Dead Boys's "Sonic Reducer"
they used to play with subwoofers around this time, you can check: That's It That's All ( 'To the Five Boroughs' album )
Beautiful song. 'Triple Trouble' next pls!
🔥🔥🙏🏽🙏🏽
This was beautiful. 🌁🏙🌃🌇

I live four hours from NY. Went on a bus tour it was breathtaking. We visited the Statue of Liberty 🗽 . So many people, so many cultures so many different foods, any kind of food.

Coming this week
Try Jimmy James on the Check Your Head album.
🔥🔥🔥🙌🙌
New York was an exciting place to live. You get off a train at early hours and things are still going. Of course that was over 20 years ago. But, there is so much packed into the city. Central Park nearby. China town a good walk away. It's something to see the sea of people going to watch the fireworks on the 4th. Not like living in Virginia. It can be absolutely hot at night with the buildings giving off stored heat during the night. Get off that train into the heat.
🗽🗽🗽❤️
absolutely love it 🤩🧡👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Great reaction Bra. TY
I appreciate it
people don't give this album yes it's credit- i personally liked it more than the usual consensus-
don't skip 3 the hard way or rhyme the rhyme well or hey f*** you- all three of them are fr fr fresh- i think there's a video for at least one of em- also the brouhaha at the end of this same album is funky- and no this came out in 04 not the end of their career
Factssss
#goodvideo ❤Beasties are the BEST!
Let’s goooo thanks
You've done a ton of Beasties, but not any of their punk or instrumentals. They have a whole album z The Mix Up - that is all instrumental. Check out Suco de Tangerina!
