@@nathigaming2236 Not as of yet. Newcastle are helping him in the battle against the addiction I believe. If he got a ban of the Italian FA that would be a footballing ban which means he isn't allowed to play any form of football or train at the club. Because the Italian FA is part of the UEFA this ban is applicable to all matches in competitions that are part of the UEFA system. He is facing a ban from UEFA, not Newcastle it seems.

Good commentary on a horrible situation. As I've commented on other videos regarding this topic, the EPL and others are plenty happpy to make money off of gambling sites and the like, which ruin many people's lives. For the world to be so shocked when footballers join in on it is crazy. Yes, they should not do it (I don't believe anybody should gamble, frankly), but when 20-year-olds get millions of dollars they sometimes do stupid things. Tonali should be disciplined, but then I think Newcastle should welcome him back with checks in place to make sure he does not fall back into the gambling nonsense.

In the past, certain football players engaged in betting on their own games, resulting in suspicious behaviors such as purposely halting their team's scoring after one goal or playing excessively defensively against teams they typically scored multiple goals against. Harry Maguire was also observed playing oddly, often inhibiting his team's scoring or even intentionally scoring own goals, prompting suspicions of gambling. These occurrences raise questions about the integrity of football and goal-scoring, particularly when betting companies offer high odds for strong teams. It is possible that these companies possess insider information on the betting tendencies of some of their clients, including footballers and managers, enabling them to predict potential scores accurately.

The biggest problem in my opinion is the ridiculous number of betting sponsorships. Vast majority of the football clubs have betting companies as their main sponsor. They incentivise these players to promote these betting companies while ruining the carriers of the very same players even if they don't bet on their own teams. To me, advertising betting compenies is equally or more harmful than advertising alcohol producers (especially beer producers). You want them to advertise your evil enterprise to their fans, who have two pennies to their name and bet their livelyhood every week, while the players themselves who are rich af and don't care if they loose a 100k bet get absolutely ruined? Doesn't make sense...

As a Milan fan, we don’t have oil money to throw around. They’ve incorporated a “moneyball” system to deal with finances. So when Newcastle comes knocking on the door with a massive offer (an overvaluation in my opinion), they won’t say no to such capital gains. Nonetheless, this is unfortunate for both Tonali and Newcastle.

As Milan fan, I'm very disappointed on hearing that Tonali betted on Ac Milan's matches too. The good thing is that he betted only on Milan's wins, so he couldn't influence the result, but I can see him under a different light now, as I wonder if the passion that he put on the field came from the fact that he's an Ac Milan's fan or from the thought of the bet.
As a person I don't judge him much, as he's responsible for his own successes and failures, however it makes me think how wrong is the society, with people living miserably not by choice, and rich lucky people who creates themselves problems because they're bored.

As a Milan fan, the idea of our club selling him because of gambling is non-sense. The biggest problem we have is depth and players leaving on a free (Calhanoglu, Donnarumma, Kessie, along with many others). When the offer came in for 70+M€ that was unheardof in serie A so we had to discuss it with the player. Tonali is still loved. He said he never wanted to leave Milan. But when the offer from NUFC came in, he saw the advantages and was open to the idea. His agent met with management at lunch on the day the offer became known. It was clear that Sandro thought it would be good for him and the club.
Did he cry ? Probably because he is emotionally connected to the club. Seeing Ibra, Maldini leave all made things complicated and he knew his time with us had come to a close. It's like when you retire or leave a relationship. Even if you believe it to be the right thing, you can still be emotional about it.

Here is my take . . He broke the rules, there are consequences and that is fair. What is unfair is all of the sensationalism surrounding the situation. Look at the title of the video, there are more players than just Tonali involved (I know that seems rich coming from a Newcastle supporter). Lets address the situation and not just one person. At the same time it needs to bee same punishment for all players involved! Rules where broken and you should not get a reduced sentence for (as you put it) "ratting" out your teammates. This is a massive issue within the game...... MORE SO FOR SUPPORTERS! Lets use this to get people the help that they need.
EDIT: I paused the video and typed that out, I'm glad that you mentioned the fans and supporters of clubs that are in the depths of these problems also!

    2) nobody is saying teammates knew, Ac Milan is out of this and for now only individuals of different teams are under investigation.
I know you want create the hype for the views but given how many people you reach with your videos you're doing us great damage.
We are already suffering for the Tonali situation we dont need you to make it worse with these unfounded allegations.

the disproportion between the treatment of tonali ( the correct way) and the treatment of toney is shocking. Toney was ridiculed and treated like shit through the ban while Tonali has barely any negative pr. Where's the consistency in the treatment?

    • @NZGeordieBogan
      @NZGeordieBogan Před 6 měsíci

Do you want Tonali to get the same treatment as Toney? I think people are realizing this is a huge problem and a lot of players need help, Toney, Tonali etc. People generally overreact in the first instances, the Toney treatment should be viewed as a lesson. Everyone needs to stop comparing and just try learning why this is happening. Toney was used as an example unfortunately, but now most people understand this is rife throughout football and the players need more education not condemnation.

If you ban legal better, you encourage illegal betting. There just needs to be more support. Hard topic for sure

What fagioli said, or more the way he said it, is protecting himself by pushing someone else under the bus, it's a common tactic. In his quotes, he makes it sound like Tonali held a gun to his head, forced him to download the applications and to gamble. You can tell by the wording that he's trying to make him self sound like a victim more so than gambling addiction. Over the past 5 years, I've seen similar statements everywhere from people trying to shift the blame, play victim or manipulate. Could he have found out about the website by Tonali? yes, but the circumstances are likely different than what he said because of the wording used.
Gambling addiction is a serious condition, and once it takes hold it builds and builds and then you start gambling on things you shouldn't. The sport promoted gambling to the generation that are now playing heavily, the current generation are also being victimized in a culture shift around gambling. I don't think bans help, it should be a first and second offense issue. More support should be given to the players to get support for their gambling addiction, to continue to have their devices inspected once a year for x amount of years to ensure there's no gambling, and if theyfail that, that's when the lengthy bans should start.
As for Phillips. I'm not really a fan of taking other teams bench-warmers. Not on an out and out sale. I'd take him on loan to the end of the season and see how he does. He wants regular football and he's not guaranteed that at Newcastle, we have a lot of midfielders, if we lose Tonali, we need someone who can play a 6 and an 8 to cover Bruno when he's injured/suspended. But it also depends on the length of the ban and in both short and long term, loan with option to buy is the best way forward for all parties, if it were to happen.
