  • Here we have a fully lined snap bag with no raw edges. You can follow this technique to make these pouches in any size you like. Simply leave an opening large enough to allow the snap to be turned through.
If you don't want the bulk at the top edge, you can cut the fleece 1cm (same as seam allowance) shorter on each side to enable flatter seams.

What a fantastic way to reuse. My husband and I have built ourselves a camp over the years and we certainly have a few tape measures that didn’t make it through to the end. I love it! What a joy to watch you this morning with my first cup of coffee.

That was so much fun to watch. You are having warm weather, lets trade locations, I woke to -12 degrees Fahrenheit this morning. I'm so looking forward to your next video again, I can't get enough info. I want to make money sewing and that has not happened as of yet, but I'm not a quitter, just a poor 67 year old widow that loves to make quilts and items to sell at craft fairs. Thank you for sharing with me your talents and your humor, you make my day. Keep cool as I try to stay warm.

Christine - Your video is the best one I've ever seen making snap bags, so thank you. What a coincidence you receiving the snaps, on the same day as your tutorial! I've binned tapes in the past so bought a cheapie from £1 shop. I also secured the end so I wouldn't loose it.
I love using variegated threads and wool. Love seeing how the wool design changes when knitting beanie hats (for homeless charity) using thrift shop wool, not knowing how the design will end up! So cold here today - I'm typing with my fingerless gloves on. Bet you don't need to wear a beanie hat at the moment 🥶😆

I made a snap bag years ago and the tutorial had us sew a casing on the outside of the bag for the ruler and insert it at the end, just as you would make a drawstring bag with a casing for ribbon ties. Not as nice looking as yours, but you don't have to worry about the ruler when you're sewing. Also, the dimensions inside of a bag are slightly smaller than the outside so if you cut the lining 1/4" shorter it will help keep the lining from bunching up at the top. I love your channel and appreciate all the inspiration and knowledge you've given me and how professional your projects always look

That is a cute print for the eye glasses case. I need to make myself a case to put my Transition glasses in on sunny days (because, they get so dark in the sun that I cannot see to walk or drive in them). This is the first pair of Transition lenses I have ever owned that has gotten so dark. It takes them a long time to return to normal after I get them out of the sun. I have to wear these glasses to be able to read. I can see to walk and drive without those glasses.

I'm so glad you demonstrated how to protect the tape in the tape measurer. I had one that got away from me and there's no way to take that thing apart. Ugh! I also made an asterisk for the casing. Not all tape in a tape measurer is the same. Some are very narrow in width and will not work. Likewise, some are very thick in width and won't work. 1/2" to 5/8" seems to be the best size, and bend well. Anything smaller is too flimsy and the larger tape does not like to bend, and not meant to. Thanks for figuring out how to do this without overcasting.❤😊

timing is everything. Elsa's package with the snap closure and a turning tool. Yep the wall hanging is a wonderful addition to your bright rooms decor. I love that you show us the goodies from viewers. I should have mentioned before, that I too bought several fusible tapes from Amazon to try. I wasted a bit of money, as Dritz 1/4" is still the best for me. I use less than you do overall, however, the cheaper price in this case just didn't work out. Good luck with the new tapes from New Zealand.

What a fun project! I wonder if you tucked in the lining and added a line of top stitching at the bottom of the outer fabric if it would help the lining stay in place. Would shorten the interior by a bit but eliminate the frustration of having the lining popping out all the time.

Thanks Josefina. I actually started the knot bag about a year ago, and didn't like the finish. Will have to try it again😀

New subscriber! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this - I love your sense of humour. Question - what machine are you using? That is the narrowest looking presser foot I’ve seen.

Welcome to the channel. The machine is a ProSew available Port McQuarrie in Australia. I did a review on it a while back that will tell you all about its features. The foot sure is tiny. It's great for zippers😀

If they are iron metal, you can use a magnet 🧲 to clean up the bits. Have a great day 😊

I made quite a few of these about 10-ish years ago in several sizes. If they get a lot of use, the metal tape will break up. I have experiemented with whether to let the tape curve in or out. I am still undecided (or can't remember) on which is best. I should mention that I often embroidered (monogramed) them for gifts. I need to get back to making some more. I wanted to buy some of the "fancy" snap tops like your gift, but dh tells me I need to use more of the things I already have and not buy more for now. :-) He is right.. sigh.

haha, Chris and I can't keep an eye on each others purchases or hoardes. We're both as bad as each other. 😀

Turned out cute but there’s an easier way to make these and the lining is nice and smooth. It calls for French seams and is quite easy.

Use a magnet to clean up the metal filing. 😊

You can use your dressmaker's magnet wand to pick up the metal tape clippings and filings.

Question tho… if you have to wash bag won’t tape measure start to rust? What about sealing it with something before sewing it into project.

      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Před 5 měsíci +1

      That's a good idea Nancy. I probably won't wash this one 🙂

Old clear nail polish might work.

Do you still knit? Can you teach us or recommend a good CZcams person? Thanks for another great video.

I haven't knitted in several years Carol. It was too much on my hands at the time. I found crochet easier on the hands. Now I just don't have the time. I don't know anyone to watch either, but I'm sure there'll be several great channels out there😁
