    Hi Isy, the black sook moon would look gorgeous on you! 🌸 Just double-check the blocking part after it's done, because if the yarn contains silk, they recommend just to wet-block it, not steam it! 😊 Have a great summer, Barbara

      Thanks for the tips! I didn’t know about steam and silk - I’ll be extra careful when it’s finished 👍

    I personally find that, in addition to the vibrancy, the temperature of the color also matters. For instance, i have noticed if a color is warm, it can't be very bright (neon) or very dusty, whereas I can pull off dustier and very vibrant cooler shades. It kind of is annoying because pink, reds, and peaches are my favorite types of colors! But I have always loved blues, so I don't feel restricted. None of this stops me from buying pastel yarn, of course 😅

    • @OrsaMakes
      @OrsaMakes  Před 29 dny +1

      Yes! I completely agree - the vibrancy seems to be crucial. I find I'm exactly the same with vibrant cool colours and dusty blues. Ultimately, it shouldn't stop you trying any colour that speaks to you though. I'm trying to streamline things at the moment to stop my chronic indecisiveness! :)

    In my opinion, you're one of few people that wear black so well. The deep saturated color in some of your new makes just make the overall look very striking, give me a little bit of a girl with a pearl earring style. I can imagine with your fair skin and pink undertone, you'd be able to wear most colors, but neutral/muted colors may not be as flattering as deep saturated colors. ❤

      Hi! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - I just came back from my holiday :) I'm really enjoying knitting with darker colours at the moment. I think I was put off because people say you don't get the best stitch definition with them, but I find them much more flattering and easier to pair with the rest of my clothes. Thank you for watching!

    Hi Isy. While the KFO dark cognac is beautiful and my favourite sweater is made with both the merino and soft silk mohair in that colour, I think the black would be better in this case. Have a great summer.

    I think the Sook Moon would look gorgeous and elegant on you! I also think your idea of a sheer blouse number one in cognac would be lovely. The colour really complimented your skin tone as the dusty artichoke didn’t do much for you. Have you thought of dyeing that camisole so you’d wear it more often?

    • @OrsaMakes

    Hi, I found your colour talk so interesting because I had a similar experience over the last years (similar colouring as you). Actually you and Brittany Bathgate inspired me to go more for blue tones in the last years since I always considered myself an autumn colour girlie. But I really like the saturation of navy or blueberry colours in contrast to my warm hair and eye colour. I think the pale and muddy pastel colours which have been very trendy over the last years like sage, lavender or dusty banana it’s quite hard to resist. But I also made the decision that they don’t do much for me. Though all the colours that don’t flatter me I like to wear as bottoms or use in interior so I don’t miss out. Though I find it interesting that you are so prone to browns from camel and Trenchcoat to cognac and chocolate colours but you don’t seem to see them as muddy. Because these brown towns should fit me also quite well (at least from my colour season) but they actually make me feel like actual mud because it’s just gets all too browny and dull with my hair and eyes. Would love to hear more thought from you on your journey through colours.

    • @OrsaMakes
      @OrsaMakes  Před měsícem

      Oh my goodness - I also love Brittany Bathgate and always reference colours on her when considering how they might look on me! I know what you mean about the muddy browns (I think I love them too much to give them up even if they are close to my hair!) I find that very dark chocolate brown (almost black) is the most flattering. I like your idea of adding different colours for interiors too. I can’t pull off the pastels in clothes no matter how hard I try! It makes me look so pink (like a lobster 🦞). I’ll continue my search for good colours! Happy knitting 🧶

    Hi Issy, don’t come to Uk if you are hoping for summer 😅 it has been a poor year for sunshine, rained since last October😁 and pretty cold now. Anyways I’m sure you have heard, bring some of that Italian heat with you, but not too much we have not been tempered! Both tops look lovely the sook moon is so nice with the wide sleeves, I am sure you will get plenty of wear out of it here. The museum was fascinating so much Bling Bling! A feast for the eyes, look forward to seeing you again, Suze. 🥰 x

    I had my colours done in january, and it completely changed how I shop for yarn, and I’m so much more happy with my FOs now! HMU if you want the details for who I had do mine (I did it online, since I couldn’t find a local one where I live). Just looking at your features I’d guess maybe like a soft autumn? But it’s so hard to determin just from looking at someone.

      @@OrsaMakes i turned out to be a true summer, and it just made so much sense! It means I can wear colours from all the summer sub seasons, but I don’t have a «sister season» like you normally do when you get «sorted» into one sub season.
      I got mine done from Colour analysis studio in Australia. They have a really good youtube channel, and in one of the videos they demonstrate how the online session works. They’re both italian actually, which is a funny coincidence. The price wasn’t too bad. It’s 199 Australian dollars I believe. Worth every penny, as I no longer keep spending money on yarn or clothes that end up feeling off.

    That sook moon will be gorgeous and perfect for the Uk summer, London has been a tad.... damp!
    Actually to get away from it I'm in Puglia for 3 weeks, and I'm dying to try the Norli cashmere - do you know if its stocked in yarn stores? Havent been able to find any info on the website.

      My thoughts too - I have been checking the forecast and feel like I might need a light jumper 😅
      I hope you have a wonderful time in Puglia! Unfortunately, I don’t think many shops stock Norli as it is quite a young brand. However, I spotted on their website that they do delivery to UPS point - so if you are in the area for a few weeks you may be able to get it delivered there.
