It's crazy how Kandi gets all this pushback for how she does business but Diddy can literally end people's careers and be celebrated.
The 2018 tour was only that big because the had a whole reality show building up to it.

@@JeremyScott459 What I’m saying is headlining a tour is not only about the deals you can get from promoters while touring, it’s also about branding when you release albums and music. Xscape is trying to put themselves on the same level as SWV but all the fans know that SWV is legendary far beyond Xscape. This tour was supposed to be a coheadlining tour that would promote both groups as queens of R&B. The only reason Xscape does more is sales even after the tour is because of their platforms from their other shows. In all reality, they should be getting an ambassador or promotoer credit instead of accrediting all of that to Xscape. People follow Kandi and Tiny for the drama, not the music.
If Destiny’s Child and En Vogue did a Queens of 90s Pop R&B, Destiny’s Child should not headline, even though we know they are the bigger success. It’s not in keeping with the spirit of the event, and that effects consumer opinion. Like this show is making us see Kandi and Xscape as hyper competitive and much more ego driven, but they hide behind business. They continue to treat SWV like they don’t know business, and evidence of that is their supposed lack of money and pay rate. SWV does this for the culture and they are not trying to grow. They have made their stamp and have done more than enough. They get it, Xscape is still trying to compete, which is just different.

I love how you put the comparison between SWV and Xscape in regards to live performance. Last week it did seem like the ladies were downplaying SWV, but I absolutely agree that SWV has the catalogue but Xscape puts on a grand show and put a lot of effort into performances which would be more entertaining to see and I agree with that. If SWV want more headlines in arenas like this they gotta put more into it and I very much love them.

She sang her ass off but she opened. Like Todd said "she know what it is." The great Xscape tour was sold out in the stadium

LMAFO, what I’m finding comical is the simple fact that people including SWV (whom I might add has 30 years in the business) are extremely upset & in their feelings about a Businesswoman like Kandi (who has a host of successful businesses) having or conducting a conversation about what….? BUSINESS! As I’ve stated many times that we all have seen multiple “UnSung Documentaries” of artists that we love or from the past, get “Got” for not handling their business, and trusting shady Management or Accountants (We will discuss the Rocky part later) with their money. In Kandi’s “Speak On It” episodes she stated that they were in talks with promoters about future touring opportunities. Let’s remember when the show was filming Xscape was their management due to not cohesively agreeing on management. So they had to play both roles when it is usually management that has these discussions.
Kandi mostly out of all of them understands how reality television works when it comes to promoting products, shows, and music. Let’s take a trip back to Season 9; RHOA, when Porsha and Phaedra were accusing both Kandi and Todd of wanting to “R” ing and want to take Porsha back to their alleged Sex Dungeon. In season 10, Kandi took that negative of the Sex Dungeon and birth Kandi’s Dungeon Tour (which was very successful), also let’s not forget that was the same year that Xscape did the interview on V103 about someone who stole their right to their lives, with the premature announcement of Xscape being back together. Promoters, Fans, and Networks were excited and they (Xscape) were booked for the 2017 or 2018 BET awards. After the performance, the demand for Xscape was high (still is) and they ended up booking and headlining their tour. So the Power of Reality television and social media following does help. Remember how Cardi B became one of the most successful Hip Hop Artists after being on Love and Hip Hop?
As far as closing the show, if you look at it from a creative perspective vs fan perspective I can understand why Xscape wanted to close the show out. The basis of the show was to kill the stereotypes of girl groups and women (mostly black women) not being able to work together or get along. Yes, “Weak” is the bigger song (For SWV) and it has made a major impact on the R&B culture. No one isn’t denying it, but if we are showcasing sisterhood, “Understanding” does have a better message and is perfect to end the show! Also “Understanding” is a better song to show everyone’s vocal abilities, whereas “Weak” only showcase Coko’s vocal abilities, and both Taj and Lelee's vocals were drowned out. So if we are going with more a creative approach “Understanding” is the more perfect choice (And I love SWV, but these are the facts).
Think about it if both Rihanna and Beyoncè were doing a Co-Headline tour, do you think they both would not advocate for themselves?
Also did you know that there were more SWV songs in the set list than Xscape? They are opening, have the majority of the time on stage, and want to close the show..? Yea, Xscape did give up more to satisfy SWV’s demands.

That’s why I feel from a business perspective, Xscape should not have done this. I don’t care who loved the Versuz. Xscape had to dummy down for the “co-headline”…whereas SWV really got a come up. Being a part of the show also gives them (SWV) access to the 10M+ followers of Xscape. They have NEVER (after their era) packed out 30k seats. Sorry not sorry and I love SWV also 🤷🏽♀️

For co-parenting…one week on, one week off, actually doesn’t work for most situations. It depends on where their parents live in conjunction to where they attend school if they’re school age. Most would rather do one have them for the school year and the other one on summer breaks, spring breaks plus some holidays and weekends.
This is my exact setup with my ex husband. Like right now, he may be moving farther away in the city. If we had alternating weeks, it would be so disruptive. Leading to too much possible interaction with my ex for my taste 😂.

SWV totally lost me when they started all the hard cussing and yelling. They are grown enough to have a discussion without getting belligerent. I’ve seen SWV in concert multiple times and the last time they opened for Cameo!! Coko got “sick” and it was a lot of pointing the microphone to the audience…..Cameo came out and gave the type of performance they gave at their peak!
Even Uncle Charlie still puts on a great PERFORMANCE! Ppl come to see artist perform not just sing the songs.

The family dysfunction in the Scott family is deep. Therapy is needed in order to truly heal. They also have such an unhealthy relationship with religion it’s going to take them stepping away from leaning on religion so much in order to move forward as well.
Also, the way SWV has been acting is giving ego, insecure, and a complete lack of business acumen. Also, I agree with you LeeLe was probably always going to be an absentee mother let’s just keep it a buck. Because where were her kids when she was homeless??? It’s giving whoever was watching her children wasn’t willing to give her a roof over her head.
I’m baffled at the fact that SWV doesn’t put as much effort into their shows but it’s probably because only one member is doing 95% of the singing anyways. Which is why Coko gets paid more. The way they have been acting is giving that they may be envious that Xscape lives a better lifestyle than them. Other than Taj, SWV lives regular degular and Kandi and Tiny are living LARGE.

IMO: This all boils down to SWV being singers. They show up. They sing the songs. They go home and cash the check. Xscape (our at least Kandi and Tiny) are business women who happen to sing. They’re not going to sing if it’s not profitable. That means production, costumes and dancers. Neither is better or worse, it’s just different. SWV is taking it personal. Xscape is just being direct about how they feel.

You're right Bondy. I've seen both groups. I went to Xscapes arena concert and SWV opened for a lineup of R&B artists. I missed a few songs too🤭I was disappointed 😫. I saw Xscape's arena concert and they closed the show. As far as the sisters, I don't know if Tocha is jealous but she's definitely used to Tameka following behind her and falling in line.
I was there for the Houston Greatt Xscape show and it was at the Toyota center and was good production

I think it's because the opportunity came to and was presented to them as a co-headlining thing based on versuz where both groups were celebrated equally. Then to get on the show and Xscape threw out that they wanted to headline was off putting.

For LeeLe and Taj, I think their attitude went downhill after Xscape headlining came into play. Generational trauma is so real..and we are watching with this family. I disagree that people enjoy it but it's what they know. Until they see something differently they will fall back on the status quo/what is familiar to them. I too understand this sort of generational trauma that runs deep in the black community.

I just wish Kandi (since she's been the spokesperson for her group) could have articulated what you have sensibly said to SWV without leaving the impression that led Taj to thinking "oh, you up here, and we are down here". I was on the bandwagon that SWV should close out the show, but after listening to your comments about the comparison of stage presentation between Xscape and SWV, I hear what you are saying. It make perfect sense for each group to alternate who closes out in the city/region they have the most fans in. Thanks for your insight!😊

Bondy no where on the internet is their proof that SWV sold 30 million records. I seen something on Wikipedia like a few weeks ago, but now it's saying 25 million which still doesn't show a breakdown on album sales. So for me they never sold that many.

I’m sure most of the followers goes to the shows if they come to their town or close. My friend is getting ready to go see Xscape this weekend and my health won’t allow me to go to concerts cause I hurt so bad and I can’t stand and walk for long periods of time and barely short periods of time and I hate that cause my cousins and friends be begging me to try and go and I’m sure there’s more people in my situation that keeps them from going also

New Edition put on a good show. After seeing them in New Orleans on 3/31/23, I must say I have a different perspective for all performances going forward. I have been an SWV fan since 1993, but they have to come with it because other groups are putting their all into their shows.

SWV is definitely working harder and not smarter. Xscape may not be hopping all over the stage as much as their dancers, but they damn sure deserve to demand more money. You're right, Bondy, I ❤ an aesthetic myself. The way SWV have OVER saturated the field of old school acts performing all the time, they try to NOT share profits with dancers, yet jumping on tours and shows with other acts, so that seems to break their monies down further. Especially, them being commissioned to perform overseas, and SPLITTING that 5-6 figure fee, versus Xscape being able to command the fee they feel they're worth. I'm certain the flight to South Africa was INCLUDED in that booking fee. That's wild. Kandi & Tiny's net worth speaks to their work ethic. Ijs.
Xscape have been nothing but complimentary towards SWV. Swv keep getting on the internet acting like out of touch old women, especially Lelee. They used all of Xscape's people but they want to call the shots but not contribute anything. I've been telling people that SWV has RARELY headlined a tour. They either open or place somewhere long before the end. I follow them. they did the same thing with Salt n Pepa about headlining, but when Toni offered them a spot, they were the OPENER and the flyer said waaaaaaay at the bottom w/ speacial guests SWV. Tamika never said they werent relevant, that was Taj being messy and in her feelings. And if people paid attention to the setlist that was on the phone, it ended with I'm Every Woman, to be sang as a collective! Lelee being shady by saying they Apollonia 6, but you writing a whole HOT CAT book..girl gone..lol

Both groups could have learned from each other - xscape learning that the collective is always stronger than the individual. SWV can learn to get the business up and invest into the live show experience which will command more dollars. All the other stuff on twitter is childish.

It is very dangerous to have a manipulator in the family causing so much damage because they know everyone so well and know exactly the right buttons to push. They spread lies from person to person in the family and sit back and watch the fruits of their work.
