Considering how, 7 years after the events of S1 and S2, Ashin still remains alone in the woods, taking care of zombies, is enough to tell me that she's way too far into her madness to get a glimpse of redemption. It would just make no sense if they went down that path. Ashin was built to become a villain we can love and hate at the same time. They did a wonderful job having us feel empathy for her at the beginning, then slowly making us shift to 'please, someone needs to stop her'.
I think Ashin's vengeance has overstepped its justification boundaries. She made it clear she wanted to end all life in Joseon, then become a zombie herself to be with her family. I think ultimately, she could either die as a zombie or die with her zombie family. I'm siding with the Crown Prince, Seo-bi and the others, even though her story is heartbreaking. Although bad decisions were taken in the past, I believe a new ruler could rectify many issues and bring peace back to the kingdom. Because I think S3 could potentially be the last season of Kingdom, I don't think they can introduce us to too many twists. The writer mentioned a few times that a S3 would be about vengeance, which I believe to be about Ashin for her people, and the Crown Prince for his people.
The interesting part of all this would be young King, who seems to be infected. I think by the end of S3, a cure would be found, thus healing the young boy. What would then happen to our Crown Prince - will he survive a fight with Ashin, or will he do the ultimate sacrifice to protect his people and the kingdom, and give up his life? He already faked his death, so he can no longer be king.
I also do not see him working alongside Ashin towards a common ennemy, given his father died because of her. It would be quite complex attempting to justify them being allies after all the blood she shed.
I'm personally eager to see her interaction with Seo-bi. Given the fact that Seo-bi is trying hard to find a cure to end the disease, might lead to more screentime in S3 against Ashin. Ultimately, Seo-bi is the only potential person to end the spread, thus ending Ashin's vengeance. I'm super happy to see more of Seo-bi and Lee Chang working together. We saw a lot of camaraderie between the Crown Prince and Yeong-Shin in the previous seasons, it would be nice to see the same now that he's traveling with Seo-bi.
This series is amazing and I wish it had infinite seasons, I can't wait to watch more of it!

here are (hopefully) a few simpler and more specific descriptions of what i know (bc for me personally the descriptions were a little hard to understand)
    joseon people: korean people
jurchen people: (this is in the comments, thank you to @aqdv25 for explaining it)
yeojin (jurchen): this is the overall big clan that consists of the pajeowi and seongjeoyain people.
pajeowi: jurchen people that are gathered near pajeo (but live in jurchen’s land). they were the same clan as seongjeoyain (ashin’s clan) until the clan was seperated and the seongjeoyain stayed in korea. the pajeowi see seongjeoyain as betrayers because the seongjeoyain are loyal to korea and live there.
seongjeoyain: this is ashin’s clan. they stem from their jurchen origin, but they have lived in korea for a long time. they are not acknowledged by the joseon people, though. as i said above, they are seen as betrayers to the pajeowi people for being loyal to korea, despite them technically being from the same overall clan. they are kinda like jurchen-korean that aren’t accepted from either side if that makes sense.
@형산강 ‘s comment has a very descriptive explanation of the history behind these terms, so check out their comment under mine
some seongjeoyain clans are actually very well off if they are given an official government status from korea. however, ashin’s clan was very low-class. back then, butchers (like ashin’s dad) were seen as much lower class than servants from what i know. ashin’s dad was the chief of the clan, and he kept giving the joseon people goods and staying loyal to them in order to be given a higher position. that way, his clan can live a better life.
i’m definitely not an expert on this topic, so if there is anything i missed, anything that needs to be corrected/further simplified, or any questions, leave them in the comments :)

    • @aqdv25
      @aqdv25 Před 2 lety +16

The Pajeowi aren't Chinese, they are Jurchen, nomadic tribes that are more related to the nomadic tribes of the Mongols than to the Chinese people in the Chinese Empire at that time. Also at that time, Jurchen Lands are not under Chinese nor Joseon rule.

The part I don't get is when the child ashin made their siblings and relatives/neighbor into zombie. That was her first time right doing this? (She has to be no idea how they would become after the resurrection plant reaction, like become monster or not) Also, she hid those bodies into secret place and it probably located quite far and then put the resurrection plant on their forehead. And then how could she handled them into one room? These zombies must be turned to be wild and uncontrollable right? I don't understand how could ashin handled them. How could she caught them when she was so young 😮

Since they were dead originally, she could have chained them up then only perform the ritual. Or she could have done the ritual when it is hot(day), they would be “asleep”

The explanation for that is the season 3 because every story of season 1 and season 2 leaves us a question and some twist that cannot explained by yourself, ryt? so the only thing we need to do is wait for the season 3! as you watch season 1 there is too many question that need to be answered and explained, then when you watch season 2 still the same too many question to be answered and voila Ashin of the North is the key and answer for the Season 2 and Season 2 is the answer for the Season 1!

It's not necessarily because putting resurrection plant on the forehead, but the main reason is the parasite eggs which below the resurrection plants leaves that get into human body and turns people into zombie. It explained in season 2 already ^^

there is 2 possible answer for that either the mother is referring to the clean white cloth covering the clean basket were the butchered meat of pig is inside or because of the exaggeration of the mother to tell to here daughter that this people are peasants and belong to a low class of people with a low class community. I'm also thinking if the meat was washed and cleaned before the father gave it to the arrogant mother! that's why the mother tell to the guy that back off your filthy and dirty hands on my basket, as you can see the clean white cloth has blood on it when the guy/father touches it just by helping and being concerned to the person who carry the basket.

To me both the Pajeowi and Ashin’s group look more Mongol-like than Jurchen. The Jurchen depicted in other movies wear a somewhat different clothing and also the Jurchen hat with red robes and peacock feathers. Those depicted in Kingdom look more like of Oirat people. The Oirats was also a nomadic group living in East Mongolia or North East China, same areas as the Jurchens people and some Mongolian tribes
