OLED is an incredible technology which has moved both the phone and TV industry forward when it comes to image quality. But it’s also scary, with many people even today worried about screen burn-in which is when a static image which is held on screen for a long time, could leave a permanent mark.
I was browsing CZcams as I do, and I stumbled across this video from Samsung which is showing off their OLED display technology for laptops. To be clear this is just a video they ran at CES showing off their vision of the future, they don’t have a laptop like this today and we probably won’t see it for a couple of years at least. So I thought it would be fun to sort of take this video apart and discuss whether or not OLED displays are the future of Laptops.

What is Micro Led, and why is it superior in image quality compared to OLED?

Good question! I have a video explaining it in more detail: czcams.com/video/SnrFE8kEeyQ/video.html but to put it quickly, Micro-LED is very similar to OLED in how it works, but doesn't suffer from screen burn-in and has the potential to be brighter.

Would you want an OLED screen on your laptop?

No, when exporting videos it would be static for many hours causing serious burn in problems

@@josephrihani5717 there is software that after a certain amount of time offsets the image so this never happens supposedly.

never buy OLED laptops, the screen will develop a burn in a year and in two years it will be barely usable
