    I have a friend I graduated with (we're both engineers) who is useing his CnC skills and trying to make 6.7 a completely mechanical engine.
    After he gets that issue figured out he's planning a fuel injected version.
    Basically cause the engine will be mechanical it will no longer need a computer and no computer means certain negative aspects of modern diesel engines will no longer be an issue.
    Wink wink.

Would have much rather seen a 12v swapped into a newer truck instead of a basic turbo swap.

    That engine air filter on your truck is the reason I had to rebuild my motor at 180K miles.
    Ate up the piston rings, valve guides, valves, 4 turbo swaps,(kept destroying the impeller wheel) and the block barely cleared at .030 over. 10,000 dollars later, I learned my lesson. I run a factory air box and factory air filter in my trucks.

    If your not deleting witch I recommend you dont. you will mess up then air ratio which will cause more soot and clog your filter, these trucks are set up for perfect air in fuel ratio just like if you have a small leak in your intake system it will cause you to soot your filter up also just foid for thought

    • @zero1898
      @zero1898 Před 3 lety

      If you notice the exhaust tone, there is no filter, muffler or fluid injection system. My 18 has no soot issues at all with all the work it has done. Also, if there is more air than fuel, soot will not be an issue. Heat will be an issue with the afr being lower than expected. Most computers and tuners have a setting to learn your driving habits and adapt throttle, fuel timing and (in my case) VGT settings in the stock turbo

      2nd gen exhaust manifold is far superior to those after, because the turbo receives exhaust gas in the center of manifold were flow is less turbulent and pressure is greater, instead of the junk he removed were turbo is placed at the end of manifold so manufacturer could make room for the EGR and EGR cooler which he is now placing in a recycling bin, also I promise, he is making more hp and torque than factory numbers.

    • @thedailyproject4569
      @thedailyproject4569 Před 4 lety +1

      A second gen swap is most common on 6.7 Cummins. Your taking the variable geometry turbo and manifold off and putting a fixed geometry turbo on with a second gen Cummins style exhaust manifold.

      @@thedailyproject4569 is that how they get the higher pitch like the 5.9?

    • @levim6417
      @levim6417 Před 4 lety

      street life I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s the manifold that creates a higher pitch. A 2g swap with a proper time will allow for a slightly higher RPM range, and a good amount of guys that do 2g swaps will build their top end and throw in a good street cam. The cam allows for an even higher rpm range with more air flow and that’s what changes the pitch. The whole reason for a 2g swap is for better air flow and better distribution through the manifold compared to a stock 5.9 CR or 6.7 manifold.
