    Nice interview. Ty Sandy. It's pretty neat to see how Tesla is developing new battery technology and other manufacturers are also developing new form factors. I'm just guessing, it feels like Tesla is the whole reason so much RnD is being done towards energy storage and mediums. The rate of development is very promising.

    I was hoping Sandy had a thought on Tesla moving to 48 volts on more vehicles. < Speaking of weight savings. I think the "Juniper" Y might be a good opportunity for 48v and drive by wire, but I have a feeling Tesla is so busy with so many other projects that the next Y will likely be only refreshed as much as the "Highland" 3. I also understand that the price point is as important as anything for the Y, but they do have to sell in a more competitive market in 2025 and beyond so I'd expect even more than the 3 "refresh" gave us.

    • @andrewsaint6581
      @andrewsaint6581 Před 26 dny +1

      They're working on it.
      Everything out of Tesla wil be 48v from now on.
      They published and spammed every other car maker with their "How to do 48v" pdf.
      Jim Farley confirmed Ford got theirs.
      This is to make the supply chain grow fast enough.
      Imo Tesla and the Chinese will be there first.
      Kind of as usual, then.

    • @Techridr
      @Techridr Před 26 dny

      @@andrewsaint6581 I just don't think so. Until there is a new platform, current refresh vehicles like Model Y "Juniper" will likely not change yet. Look at the "Highland" Model 3. I hoped 48v would happen there, but on a refresh, it likely doesn't make economic sense, so 14.8v remains as it will with the Y. Yeah, the 48v PDF that went to other OEMS happened last year. None of them will make the change anytime soon. Look at Rivian. They just announced a lot of great changes but they're still on 12v. It's going to take time

Alodine is a chemical conversion coating and is so thin the metals still conduct which could cause a galvanic response. Second, can the new flat battery double as a structural battery pack as the 4680 cylindrical canister does (dual use)? Last, what is up with Sandy’s body language. He seems to have lost his jubilance and fanboy attitude. Did he get a Ross Gerber type smackdown from someone at Tesla? He publicly stated he thinks vision is not enough for FSD. Love Sandy, but he is not always accurate with batteries. I doubt this battery will come out at a less expensive price than current batteries. I am not real smart on batteries, but I have seen at least 5 companies come out with breakthrough tech and nothing has come 3 to 5 years later. We will see!!

      We've seen endless promises of a miracle battery, but they never materialize.

      I would buy one. Here are a few reasons why:
      1 Elon is awesome
      2 Tesla is non UAW
      3 Cybertruck is most USA made.
      4 Tesla is not woke
      5 Cybertruck is awesome
      6 People hate Cybertruck
      7 Joe Biden hates Elon and Tesla
      8 Ten year warranty
      9 Can charge at home

    Wait, isn’t Sandy Munro the gentleman that raved about the CyberTruck? Dude, it’s a total piece of crap vehicle… Zero respect for Sandy, none. I purchased a Model 3 thanks to his excited reviews but boy was it a lemon. So thankful to get out from under it… Thanks for spewing lies and pumping my Tesla stock, I funded my retirement from it, but dude is clearly compromised.

      Back to your drawing board, my eager little friend. That damp sack of wet trash wouldn't even sell on facebook, and you're trying the routine here? Among people who actually know better?
      I want to give you a D-minus just so you pass the class and we don't have to deal with you again, but it's not even on the border. That was a bad, BAD comment.
