The Air assist will NOT help suck smoke out. It will help getting a cleaner cut, you need an exhaust to remove smoke
Thank you for sharing! My machine came in last week and it's still in the box. Lol after watching your video, I just gathered up my courage to open it and start. Thank you again.
Thanks from Australia. Mine is still in the box after purchasing a couple of years ago. I really should make the time. Good to see you using metric! Keep fighting the good fight brother.
Just ordered one through your link. This will be my first one. Like you said I am not tech savvy so I do appreciate your info in the video. I only intend to etch and engrave flat wood surfaces just like you demonstrated here. Maybe some different materials in the future as I learn the process and capabilities. Also curious (If you can drop a HINT) about what other machine you returned lol. Cheers!
Great info. Try a Mr clean Magic eraser in place of sandpaper! You will be surprised at how well it works to remove the char.
Great tip! Thanks, I’ll give it a shot. I’ve heard that from some other people as well.
Amazing tutorial! Thank you so much!
Great video. I already have a smaller laser but it's a bit limited. Saw the XTool package and wanted to get the lowdown on performance. You answered all my questions. Thanks.
I just ordered mine a few days ago before i came across your channel. I kind of wish i would have waited to i could get the one with the rotary tool however i couldnt pass the price it was. I just subscribed to your channel. I like that you made the video simple and straightforward without all of the dramatics.
Best of luck with it. It is a very user friendly tool. Welcome to the channel!
Fantastic explanation and great tips! Thank you
Great presentation, thank you.
Nice vid, cheers, just been paid.. this is burning a hole in my pocket.. I've got a 5w sainsmart Genmitsu 3018.. Im glad I bought it because I'm finally able to get photos to engrave but the D1 looks 👌
Thank you, really helpful
This is so kool I love it thanks for sharing!!!
I’ve got one and can confirm he is telling it how it is. 👍
Great video!! I can't help saying you remind me of Joe Piscopo 😊 thanks for posting
thanks for the video very informative!!
Hey how do you get that green centering dot on your image before you engrave?
Good information. I appreciate your video.
i bought one, but its still in the box. i want to learn how to operate it before i unpack it. you touched on some details other videos didnt show. all the little tidbits are helpful. thanks!
Great video
this is a great video! Thank you!! does the software have images or can you simply add some if needed?
It has some images but not a lot. You can make or insert your own. You can also download lightburn software, which has a lot more features and images. I stick with the basics because I’m not too tech savvy.
Great video. Can you let me know how come on the glass the letters were dark but not the image in the center? Also, for engraving tumblers do I need lots of ventilation? Thanks
I believe the center design of the mugs turned out white because of the amount of heat generated during the etching process, since there was more detail on that part. You need good ventilation for just about anything engraved with a laser, unless it’s a very small area being etched.
Thanks for the video, have you done a video lasering stainless steel jewelry? I don't see it on your channel.
No, sorry I have not. Haven’t had the time yet because my I have too much carpentry work to do. Maybe when I get a break I’ll try but there’s so much going on behind the scenes here right now.
Hi, thanks for the video! I am thinking of buying this machine, but I need it for counting out plywood shapes, do you know what the thickest wood it can cut in one pass please?
You have to go to the manufacturer’s website for that exact information because I only used the 10w laser and cut out a 6mm piece of plywood and it took 3 passes. The 20w laser has much more power and can probably do that in one pass. I’m not sure about how many passes it would take for cutting Anything thicker
awesome info. 👍👍💯💯💯🚀🚀🚀🚀
Newbie here - how did you get the different colors on the glass mug? At least it looked like the letters and the beer mugs were different colors from this end?
Honestly, I believe it was the difference in temperature of how intensely the laser had to etch that area. I’m new at this as well and that would be my only logical explanation.
If I want to carve a shamrock into walnut 2” thick but carve out the inner of the shamrock 5mm deep on the int
Yep, it can be done.
@@AnthonyScolaro1
Which version of x tool would you recommend
Have you done it in a video
How long does it take to carve something like a shamrock out
And is all the soft ware included
@@jim6402 I have an affiliate link in the description, I would recommend the 10w or 20w. The software included is basic but you can input your own images to carve as long as you know how. I have not carved many shapes, but in this video the wood sign I made is about 4-5mm deep.
Thank you for the video ,
question :how long it took to engrave?
The glass took about 12 minutes. The wood took about 5 and a half minutes
Not bad ,I’m probably getting the 10w over the 5 w ,I asume the 10 w it’s the fastest of the 2
Thank you again
@@Fundoracarpentry yes, the 10w is much faster. I had the 5w but swapped out the laser head to an infrared for engraving all metals. That’s why I have two machines. The 10w does some metals also but I want to use that for wood, glass, leather and acrylics. I would greatly appreciate it if you are planning to purchase one of these lasers, to click on my link provided in the description. The cost is the same but the company will give me a small commission and the demographics will help them to see the traffic I’m driving to their products. Thanks for being part of my CZcams family!
On the glass. How did you get two different colors
I think it was the different amounts of heat generated for the different amounts of area being etched
I just ordered but I’m not sure do I need to open windows when machine is working. if I’m doing on basement or I need to garage?
Ventilation is always good whenever using a machine or tool that makes smoke.
can you tell me the exact machine with specs this is? and attachments? I want to be sure I am looking at all the right items in the store.
Xtool D1 pro 10W + RA2 +risers I have an affiliate link in the description
if you use air assist there would not be as much charing and you almost didnt need to sand it.
I don’t see your link. I am on mobile so maybe it’s just hidden in front of my eyes? Great video by the way. Appreciate you showing different materials and software usage.
Hi, you just have to look in the description box and the link will be there
I m new to laser machine and in market to use for making pop up cards from cardstock paper and some miniature wood pieces. I have Cricut maker machine.
1) does it work on cardstock paper making intricate cuts or too strong for it?
2) other tool air assist or honeycomb is optional in such application? like to try first and gradually like to add accessory.
3) what is longevity of this machine? I read mixed review on amazon
4)Looking at xtool d1 pro 10w or 20w . I see diff of 500 $ between them. Should I go with 20w ? Does 10W cut more intricate cuts then 20w?
Quick reply (if u can) will be great
I’m new to lasers also, and showing you how easy this laser is to operate, however I’m just giving you the specs and a demonstration of what it can do for me as a new user. For further technical details, you can check out their website, I have the link in the description and they have technical support if you don’t find the exact answers you need.

Thank you for replying
Can this machine engave on marble stone?
Not that I’m aware of, usually you need a water jet or router/CNC type machine for that. But you can always check the capabilities with the manufacturer.
Can you get just the riser legs?
I believe so. Check my link to the website and you should be able to find them.
Make your own with some pvc pipe or dowel from the Orange big box or Blue big box store.
xtool d1 pro 10w compatible with yrc1.0 y-axis rotary chuck ??
I know that the d1 pro has a neutral style connector to work with the different brand rotary chucks but I do not know what models they are other than the one xtool includes with this package, which is actually a very good rotary chuck and compared to the one you are inquiring about, xtools chuck is actually more expensive and seems to come with more attachments. But if you already have the yrc 1.0, You can find out on their website or call their customer service and they will give you that information.
@@AnthonyScolaro1 thanks. yrc1.0 y-axis rotary chuck is better design
@@basook6116 no problem, let me know if you find out whether or not it is compatible. I’m sure there are others here that may have the same or similar question.
@@AnthonyScolaro1 I will do that. yrc1.0 y-axis rotary chuck is better design because chuck can rotate 180 compare to Xtool
@@basook6116 the xtool RA2 pro chuck rotates a full 360 degrees, you can also switch the chuck to the opposite side and spin mugs and glasses a full 360 degrees to clear the mug handle.
Please for the love of God if you order one make sure you get the pro and not the standered d1. I ended up with the d1 had to return it for the d1 pro. Yes they look alike but they are very different as far as performance
If you purchased it through the link I provided, you would have gotten the D1 pro and not the regular version. That’s why I provide the links in the description, so you get the model I’m using and demonstrating.
Hay bro this machine software free or not
Like I said in the video, the xTool software is free and it’s good for beginners but if you want a more advanced software like “lightburn”, you have to purchase the license. I don’t do much other than some signs and metal necklaces, so the free software is fine for me.
What is the price?

Green glasses with Diode laser? I think you have the wrong safety glasses. Those are for a Fiber laser. You need Orange tint glasses.
This is what comes with these lasers. I’m sure every company can’t be wrong
24 minutes to engrave? Seem like a lot of time.
