So you just can't get your damn toes to touch that bar, huh? I have a few secrets to let you in on - that could just be the difference between a REP and a NO REP! These tips are ones you can try right away and stop the endless swinging around, hoping for magic.
So let's take a look at the Toes to Bar standard;
1. Your feet (doesn't have to be toes!) must touch the bar at the same time between your hands
2. Between reps, your feet must pass behind the vertical plane of the bar
So with that in mind, I'll show you a few drills you can do to get some extra momentum while making sure you check the above boxes. While this isn't necessarily the BEST way to go about learning Toes to Bar (my 8 week course is!), it will definitely help if you're needing those reps to count in the short term - e.g. The CrossFit Open!
Want to skip to the parts that apply to you best? Here's what's included;
0:00 How to get your first TTB
1:21 The standards of Toes to Bar
2:21 The 'non-kipping' version (including common faults)
4:47 The kipping version - my favorite techniques
7:27 How to start stringing them together
8:42 Free stuff!

Ben plz we need a tips for chest to bar ...
I haven't done it before iam scaled.. and iam really good at pullups..
Also I watched ur videos on chest to bar..
But u need more advices..thanks in advance.
How has this video not got more views?! I honestly tried T2B for the first time ever, yesterday. I watched this video and managed to string 8 in a row! Yeah it’s not loads but with practice I’ll defo get better! Thanks for the solid tips!
Thanks for video! Lots of great info. I will try the tuck and flick ASAP!!!
What I am taking with me from the video is the following list:
1. Look up at the bar
2. Jump up, shoulders back feet forward, arch
3. Tuck and flick
4. Actively pull to "arch" in a gruff voice
I can currently do one at a time (this has been the current situation for the last 4 years), but I need to consistently practice stringing them together and I think this list will help me think through the process. I will be practicing tomorrow and then completing 21.3 and 21.4 on Sunday. Thanks for all of the helpful video's!
Excited to try these tips! I’ve never been told to look at the bar!
I appreciate your education. I'm going to practice looking at the bar and the tuck and flick technique.
I have been working out for years, but just started Crossfit and found you! Your videos are so helpful! Thank you!
You're so welcome! Plenty more videos for you to get through then!
Haven't tried looking up at the bar, but i have a feeling this should help alot!
Also setting bands on spotter arms slightly below the bar is another awesome idea that you showed in a different video.
Gonna definitely use that idea as well. Thank you!
This worked!! I was able to do 30 toes to bar (singles) for 21.3! It was so fun to be able to get this. Looking forward to trying to string them together now. Thank you!!
Awesome job
You’re great at explaining at a great pace and examples
I need to remember to look up as well as tuck and flick! Thanks for the tips
super helpful thanks so much!!
I got my first toes2bar yesterday, thank you for your excellent tips!
I followed your instructions and just got my first T2B!! Thank you for your amazing videos!
Nice work! Proud!
Totally works. Looking up was the key for me.
I’m gonna try looking at my target. Unfortunately I have been looking down. Great tip! 👍🏾
Will try looking up 🎉
Loving the tuck and flick and jumping in hollow from bench, doing this this week! Thanks
sweet, let me know how it goes!
Tried tonight...it works!! Thanks Ben :)
Turns out I just needed to look at the bar. Thanks heaps man!
Pulling my legs back hard and quick! Thanks!
Bring my legs down fast and arch. Thank you! Great video
By looking up to the bar, I solved the issue I had to do my toes to the bar. I can do now 3 sets of 20 reps, without any momentum. Thanks for the tips!
I got my first toes to bar after watching your video!!! Many thanks!!!
Thanks, tomorrow I will practise
So good. Thank you :))
I am going to look up towards the bar.👍
I will try the flick move during today’s workout
Looking Up🔥
Oh im DEFINITELY trying these tips tomorrow at the gym. We had them today and I looked a mess.
Now that I’ve seen this I think I will try my first T2B. I always do knee raises instead.
Ben, keep crushing it! Just sent this to someone from South Seattle CrossFit that was asking for some tips!
Looking at the bar is what I need to do.
Add in the tuck and flick
Hey so I’m fairly new to cross fit. Just 4 months new. The challenge on top of the look, tuck, kick is my hands. They’re not strong enough to hold my weight. Any ideas on how to improve grip? Is there a glove? Strap like in weight lifting?
Does necessary to use hands straps? How does it affect the hand grip?
I really suck at these, but you make it look so easy!🤣 It seems that flexibility plays a major part in this🤔
Usually tight lats will set you back
I do not have a good grip and have fell trying TTBs flat on my back! How do I get a better grip to hang on?
😁 I like the
B O O M
Aggressive pull down of the legs to try to string 5-6 at a time hopefully without the dead swing
I am 61 and female and really wa n t to be able to do this and add to my workout routine!! Is that possible?????
I tried to arch and tuck, but I failed...I think I see what I did wrong. I see after the first rep when pulling legs back you push you face in the window slightly to get the arch again.. I will try again
I am a 61 year old that power walk with weights 5 days a week and want to be able to do these!!!
Hollowing
Look up - knees up then flick toes to bar
Arch, through the window!
What bar is this?
Look up
Look at the bar , thanks ...
I want to get my first toes to bar 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
My hamstrings are so tight. I'm trying to stretch them out everyday
wish i had viewed this before 23.1 ...
Why not doing it slowly? Crossfit is something else fr
This absolutely amazing. Will be trying this tomorrow for the first time. And if I don’t first succeed I’ll get my little self up and try again 😂🦾
Look up
