@gutter 529 I think it's the perfect "tarantino" movie. Something like Django or Pulp are more widely appealing. Even if a bit "off" from normal big name movies, they still are a bit faster paced and suspenseful and straightforwards. Easy enough for an average popcorn muncher who doesn't care about QT to follow and enjoy. But among my few film nerd friends who love Tarantino, H8 is our favorite. Basterds comes close.

A friend and I saw it in theaters, maybe the night it came out, who knows? Once Upon a time in Hollywood is about 2 hours of some guys down on their luck scrounging about in Hollywood during the summer of 1969. And then...oh dear god the ending. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, so I'll just say that it was set in the summer of 69 for a very specific reason.
There are two kinds of alcoholics: 1. One who takes a whiskey shot under a second, roll their eyes and tongue & ask the bartender for another one. 2. One who takes a single fine-whiskey shot, drag it for an hour or maybe even more, sipping a single drop at a time but cherish the slow-moving of nectar down their throat while carefully analyzing the bar where they are in currently for each and every insignificant activity going on. This film is made for the second category. It was such a slow-placed movie. But every second was so worth it. Incredible movie. Highly recommended !!!

The "black on black" violence is a crime committed by criminals. However, the police are supposed to uphold the law, not violate it with impunity. Yes, there are times when cops have to use lethal force in the defense of their own lives or innocent people, but there are too many cases where they rush to kill black people and then get protected by the police organizations. Nobody asked you to cry. But justice is supposed to be even handed, and cops are to be held to a higher standard in return for their ability to use lethal force.

I prefer the traditional 2.39 Cinema Scope, which I think is enough for an “epic” look, but this is the director's original vision and I respect it. I didn't think about it being a sequel to Django.... But if it was, wouldn't they have put it in the title? He wanted everyone to be questionable - so he ditched Django and replaced him with Marquis Warren. So yeah, you're right - initially bounty hunter was supposed to be Django, but now he isn't.
Yeah that looks like it will be his 8th best movie. Looks like a dud to me. Don't give me this crap about how trailers are supposed to tease and not give away too much. I've seen enough. Let me save you the suspense. The girl will be the lone survivor. A bunch of deaths and she lives. End of story.

She's barely shown because they want you to feel her role is secondary but she will be the most vicious of them all and slowly manipulate her way to freedom. She will be the only survivor.

This movie is amazing on a second viewing.
