      On the topic of Xavi why did he give Lewandowski 90 MINUTES TODAY? Why why why the heavens? What has Lewandowski done since the start of the season; heck what has he done since last January 2023? I'll tell you what he has done miss easy chances, play poor passes, sat deep in attacking plays and have one good game versus atletico madrid. If I were the Barca manager I am starting Roque and heck and if i do start him and bring in Iniago, but incase Araujo did not get the red card I would've subbed him off at half time. There are two people who i need not be here next season and that is Lewandowski and Xavi. Even Romeu has got a better stock than Lewandowski.
      Another take on Xavi. You are 4-2 up on aggregate, why dont you pack the box and play 79 minutes of defensive football. Why attack and leave spaces for the 3 PSG pace merchants? Why? That is a tactical blunder from Xavi. Does not require much think just common sense would have told anybody that. Shut that box tight.

    I think players need to be more conscious about the type of referee they're dealing with.
    This ref showed himself to be a strick disciplinarian who liked the sound of his whistle, so you gotta adjust your game.
    Lewandowski realized this which is why he kept rolling around the ground getting players booked!
    Also Xavi made awful subs. He didn't seem to believe his players could handle PSG with a man less.

      @blackwhite2361 Před 12 dny +7

      Believing in your team and facing reality are two different things. Barca were already struggling against Dembele and Barcola... So with a CB getting a Red Card he really had no choice but to substitute an Attacking player for a defensive minded player.
      Now we can debate whether the sacrificial lamb had to be Lamal or a different player but with Araujo off, Koundé had to stay back and defend. He couldn't come forward like he did b4 the red card...
      And you can't count on Yamal to drop back and defend. So he would have been on the pitch with no one to feed him the ball and at the same time not defending. That's dead weight ... Hence Xavi taking him off.

    Donnarumma: struggles with corners and crosses into the box throughout the tie. He has just had to make a last ditch save from a direct corner.
    Barcelona: let's quickly play a short corner which gets intercepted. Seconds later, PSG score the 4th.
    More often that not, football is a very simple game that's made complicated when people forget that. If team or player has a weakness, like for example a keeper who struggles coming out for crosses into his box, you try your best to exploit that weakness. You don't freaking play a short corner!

    • @JudasThaddeus-zb9lb
      @JudasThaddeus-zb9lb Před 12 dny

      Yeah it's like hammering a nail into a rock. Most of the time it won't look effective, but it only has to go in once. Every try matters too. This Barcelona side is weak in mentality when it comes to this.
      It was the 86th minute and I saw a home fan close to tears, hugging his wife/partner. And another who was already weeping. They were just one goal down at the time with almost 10 minutes to go! Granted they were a man down, but the whole team and fans looked defeated. And of course they conceded again in that manner like you said.

    Barcelona on the wrong end of another humiliating champions league exit. People are going to talk about the red card and I get it Araujo getting sent off was a turning point in the game, but going into this tie you were the team in the lead and overall they were up by 2 goals on aggregate at home only for them to lose the tie 6-4 by 2 goals. Credit to PSG and Luis Enrique for how they were able to take advantage against a team that was down to 10 men, but from Barcelona’s perspective once they got desperate and made subs off the bench it was too little to late for them and the game should’ve gone to extra time had a certain Polish striker decided to pass the ball to Ferran Torres late in the game when he was open, he didn’t and Mbappe scored to put the icing on the cake.
    To think that 15 years ago, Barcelona were on top of the world and now in recent years they’ve had so many crumbles in the champions league after being 2+ goals up and it’s just crazy. They’ve had more UCL bottle jobs than trophies since 2015 and the list is just endless. 2018 against Roma in the UCL quarterfinals, 2019 against Liverpool in the UCL semifinals, 2020 against Bayern Munich destroyed 8-2, in back to back seasons they didn’t qualify for the knockout stages as they were relegated to the Europa League and now against PSG in 2024. Barcelona bottling it in the Champions League it’s just football heritage at this point and now everyone is about to meme them.

Am doing to England what people do to Arsenal, so till they do it. I hope Southgate does a mad one and starts Palmer over Saka in case they end up short. The only other proven nation that's good is Portugal in the Euros at least. I paraphrase a Swahili saying that "the ball bounces" It could bounce his way or another way.
      I don't think he wins the UCL this season. I think it's City or Real. I hope he does it though. One last hurrah with PSG, post Neymar and Messi but especially Neymar/Di Maria. Will do wonders for his legacy. Then potentially a Euros. I trust his Euro chances because the squad is coming up in good form. Tchouameni-Camavinga have been great. Dembele-Griezman have been in good form. Thuram -Parvard at Inter will probably win the Serie A. Maignon at AC. Saliba-Konate at Arsenal -LFC are having decent seasons. So a good chunk of their first team is in good form coming into the summer. They can do it and he can win the balon dor.

      @@insideinside9450 it's not. Antimadridismo is definitely a thing, and may have served Barcelona well for the past decade+ when they could compete financially and sportingly with Real Madrid. That situation has changed.
      One of the major probs w/ this mentality is agency. If everything is the fault of an external party - Madrid, refs, media, whoever - the solution can only come from there. Xavi, Laporta etc are from this domain of thought.
      Owning flaws gives agency to fix them. But this isn't happening anymore.
      1. Madrid: The unofficial stance from Real Madrid socios is "leave Barcelona alone, they have enough problems to worry about".
      2. Referees: blaming referees, like we know how Xavi does often after a bad result, still doesn't help Barcelona amend their situation. "We have been so unlucky with the referees since I've been here". His words from yesterday.
      3. Media: blaming the media for "not being united" has backfired on Xavi this season, the pressure was too much for him to bear, and that's why he's leaving.
      In short, like I said, as long as Barcelona and their board are pointing fingers at Madrid or whoever instead of analysing what they do wrong, where they need to go and how they're going to do it, they are still in this cycle. It's not just a political issue anymore, the finances of the club are being hit as well by making pointless signings and large wages for old players, and missing out on competitions, like the next club world cup.
