This is short concise and perfect for someone with reasonable skills and half a brain. The local Tesla Service department let me down and chased the wrong rabbit down the wrong hole. After keeping my car for two extra days and not being able to find the culprit for lack of key recognition and a few other electrical issues I did my own search and found Ohmmu. My 2014 S was a little more difficult to get to the battery than the 15', but I accomplished it none the less. Tesla service wanted me to flat tow my car and couldn't give the simple advice of removing the nosecone to charge the dying lead battery after two days of lock out. Just another car company service department trying to milk as much money from the clients as they can...
Thank you Ohmmu for a great product replacement with a great how to DIY video!

best video for my problem.. our TMS 2015 got an update loop, which caused a battery drain. now it sends a "replace 12v battery warning" but the 12v battery is good. will disconnect the emergency loop and negative pole of the battery. wait 5mins and connect it in reverse.. hopefully it will go away

Isn't the charge / discharge profile of the Li battery much different from Lead Acid? How does the high voltage DC to 12v DC charger know the different cut-off voltages etc?

It doesn’t, you have to download an app to your phone to control the new battery. Why pay 3 times the cost , to have 1 more issue.

Tesla will come and replace your 12 volt for $136 , why pay 3 times that ?

Don't waste your time, Setup a call with Tesla, they will come home and replace the battery in 20min, only $247 including installation and sw update. M3 and MY is cheaper.

30 mins my eye on a MS 100D ? .. it took you 30 mins to open it up.. c'mon.. this job is easily 90 mins 4sum1 that hasn't done it 6 times.. plus.. he had all the tools set up prior.. Tesla charges about $400 to install a new battery w/ the labor included in Nj.. that includes 1.3 hrs labor @ $195 an hr... that's what a professional takes..& usually they rush it & 4get stuff..like bolts or broken trim clips.. seen it personally.. U think you're faster at the ok Tesla Corral? think again...but at least you can put it 2gether the way it's supposed to be

Great video... Your title is not actuate though. (I would delete the PLUS part... 2015+)
I have 2017 Model S and the set up is VERY different from the 2015+ you indicated...
    Hope this helps others...

Where is the battery in your 2017 S? It should be same location and most of the methodology is the same, the HVIL (first responder loop) is the only thing that was moved from the 2014/2015 to the full-refresh Model S version.
