For me Well of Ascension is the best Mistborn book. Hero of Ages I found pretty mid until the final 20% of the book. Maybe it's a me thing but I never understood what the plot/main conflict was in Hero of Ages.

I agree about the main conflict in HoA, as it’s hard to point to an actual physical antagonist (ik it’s mainly Ruin, but that isn’t quite as visceral).
On the other hand, when I look back after 10+ years, HoA and TFE are a lot more memorable to me than WoA. I think HoA was the first time I felt the full impact of a Sanderlache, and that ending to the trilogy really stuck with me.
