- Creality has a laser focus on market domination.. and not just the 3D printing market. They're coming for the entire DIY segment. The Falcon 2 Pro is their all new fully-enclosed diode laser cutter/engraver. It's got many of the features of the xTool S1, at a lower price point. But are the cost savings worth it? Or is it missing some crucial features? In this video I compare these two competing offerings, highlighting their similarities and differences.

Nice. I just recently bought a 20W open frame Elegoo laser engraver, and I really like it, as my first ever laser cutter.engraver. (it was waaaaaaay cheaper!) but the Creality looks good and I am jealous of the 40w laser.
very helpful video...I have been using a cooperative laser and have been thinking of getting my own.. Can a any of these models cut through thin sheets of metal?
Started with D1, upgraded to S1 via their Trade-in prog. One crucial point missed: THE SOFTWARE. Not a fan of COMPLEX software like Lightburn, so xTool's software has been incredibly helpful. Learning to use the S1, considering another F1 in the future.
From the thumbnail I thought it was a tiny desktop CNC lathe haha got quite excited
Hi, thank you for the great informative video. I'ld like to ask, is it possible to use this laser machine to precisely cut carbon fiber or prepreg before laminating. I need to cut a carbon fiber sheet into a specific shape before placing it into the mold for epoxy hardening. Please, let me know if you ever tried it 🙂
Thanks
I'm not sure. That's not something I've tried.
I would assume it's not possible. Carbon has an extremely high melting point generally, diamond for example melts >3000º so I imagine a laser would fail to melt and vaporise CF. Even if it could, the heat could damage the resin if it were prepreg.
This video was well made, thanks for the comparisons.
Thank you!
The only downside to expensive thing is price. LOL. bought the xtool one for my leather business last Nov. and i love it so much. Some advice from my experience: if you're buying a laser machine for your business, a few hundred bucks is really not a thing. Think about it: if you aim to save few hundred dollars and end up with a poor machine, it will cause more trouble in the long run.
i wish i got a more powerful laser now. i got the kentoktool le400 pro. it's only a 5.5w laser. which is fine for some things. but upping to a 20W would be great
Upgrading from my D1 to the S1, I never thought the camera would be crucial, but autofocus really saves time. I've watched numerous Falcon review videos, and noticed a recurring issue. Initially, I thought it was an isolated case, but it seems to occur in every video - the Falcon's camera isn't precise. At 5:05, the design is clearly centered, but after engraving at 5:09, the design is not in the same position!
In this video though, it do look like it nailed the placement.
@@mikkelkirketerp4884 I think @zouzou9948 is right... look at the top right heart. In the software there's a noticeable gap between it and the edge. In the finished product there's barely any gap at all if any.
Thank you for making this video! After much deliberation on which machine to go with, I went with the S1. Its conveyor feature was the reason, as it seems only the S1 supports a conveyor system(couldn't afford the P2). Another reason for my decision was XCS. Thanks to another influencer, Buster Beagle 3D, for the tutorial, which explained how to use the S1 every step of the way very effectively.
Man , yall are so lucky to get these review units, they will not send me anything. Ive at this point had to buy the K1 Max, Ender 3 V3 KE , but i still review them but am not large enough yet to get creality to send me one. Some day. I want to get into the laser side of the 3d printing hobby/maker. Congrats. I am a fan of Creality.
Thanks for watching. It will come with time and consistency. Review units are great and all but they come with strings attached. These videos are a lot of work to reproduce. Nothing is truly “free”.
@@ygk3d oh I agree. Artillery sent me a Sidewinder X3PLUS and require a minimum of 20 videos. So it's a solid printer. Great for a beginner. Easy first printer

I've had a 20w diode laser for a minute, though I'm pretty sure I destroyed the diode itself as it doesn't engrave or cut as well as it used to. That being said, it'd be nice to see how this stacks up to comparatively priced Co2 options. I really want to get into Co2 lasers because my diode just isn't really doing what I want it to do but I dont really know where to start thats more plug and play.
Most likely you didn't destroy the diode itself, just the lens cover - it gets covered with muck as you use the laser which damages it and causes loss off power. This part is considered a consumable, you're supposed to clean it as often as necessary and replace when it eventually gets damaged.
@@YaaLFH lens is completely clear, and so is lens cover but ive replaced them both just to be sure
@@xXcagllariXx You shouldn't be touching the actual lens inside the module, only the lens cover at the bottom of the module. If you replaced the lens, it's quite likely it's not aligned well and not focusing correctly.
Diode lasers have a very small depth of focus and quality suffers at a mm+ away.
Run a ramp test to see focus distance.
great info and review, thank you kindly
Is it possible to add this stuff to your existing falcon 2? Like are the dimensions the same and all that?
They haven't released an upgrade kit yet but it seems like it would be feasible. The main frame is the same.
im generally into engineering, just started out with 3d printing and i am absolutely looking forward to lasercutters and also CNC machines...

Great comparison. I’ve been looking for the xtool s1 but felt it was way to expensive, didn’t know that the falcon2pro is that close! Looking forward to testing it on my channel soon (the 22w version). Greets from Austria, Mario
Thanks!
It's not that close actually.
Cheaply built and doesn't have many features.
could use one to cut replacement panels for the K1/K1 Max out of acrylic.
Not if you want to use clear/translucent acrylic.
@@YaaLFH does transparent black acrylic exist?
@@boitmecklyn4995Well it's not transparent because it's tinted but yes, it exists.
Won't cut easily with a diode laser though.
@@YaaLFH shame. it would solve the shattering problem. I would also like a vacu-formed top like on the K1 for the K1 max.
@@boitmecklyn4995Not a big problem if you're not going to cut clear/translucent acrylic regularly.
Just find a local Maker Space that has a CO2 laser or if you're in the USA, check if a local library has a Glowforge and cut it there.
I wouldn't bother but if you're determined, you could diy a top like that, you can find examples on yt.
I'd still choose the s1 over the falcon. Your paying for quality. Not only that their software is highly designed also. So it would of been nice to see both of their sofewares in action also.

Which one can cut and engrave 3 mm acrylic mirror?
Neither, diode lasers can't cut clear acrylic.
@@YaaLFH thank you. What kind of laser is needed?
@@ElieAnquetil CO2. Much larger and much heavier than diode lasers, also more powerful. If you're thinking about getting an xtool laser, have a look at the P2.
I have a Vevor 50W CO2 laser. It has no settings for curved surfaces. Still there is no problem to engrave curved sufraces like that ladle. So my guess is that Crealitys laser also can do that.
You're comparing apples and oranges. In comparison to CO2 lasers, diode laser have very limited depth of focus so quality suffers visibly at only a few mm away from where focus is set.
The S1 has a motorised Z axis so it adjusts distance as it works, keeping a curved surface in focus. The Falcon doesn't have motorised Z axis so it can't do it.
Such a shame that diode lasers cant handle acrylic well. I started of with a small k40 C02 laser and would love a bigger work area but I really cant give up the ability to cut clear/colored acrylic. The price of larger C02 lasers is still really high, if only diode lasers worked well with acrylic I'd absolutely buy one.
For sure. The ability to cut clear acrylic is a big reason to get a CO2 laser instead of a diode laser. Power used to be a differentiating factor as well but modern diode lasers are comparable to CO2 now in that regard.
The smart move for creality is to release a 3d printable skirt for the laser cutter when the risers are in use
I wonder if or when we will see a SLS powder fusion 3d printing attachment or upgrade option?

I'm curious as to why you are using my content in your video and not getting permission or at least linking my channel in your bio to give credit to the folks that you stole the footage from. Starting at 7:36 it is clearly the footage from my recent overview of the xTool Riser and rotary. I don't recall anyone from your channel contacting me to ask if this was okay. The faint credit that you did give is barely visible in the lower left corner of the clips and I have to wonder if the other creators are aware that you are using their footage. Making monetization income from other people's content is a pretty clear copyright violation and also a violation of CZcams standards. Sounds like a report has to be submitted about your content.
Hey! Yes, you’re right, I used a short clip from one of your videos. The source is indicated in the lower left corner. I’m using this in the context of industry commentary so it’s covered under fair use, which doesn’t require explicit permission. In an ideal world explicit permission would be sought and granted, but this would be prohibitive since emails often go unanswered. I’ll plan on making the attribution text more prominent in future videos. I’ll also add a link to your channel in the description. Thanks for the feedback.
@@ygk3d Hmmmmm in an Ideal world..... Well, you've just pointed out a problem you've made which wouldn't have happened had you just contacted the other creators and posted the channels and made the credits clearer......
What comes across here is just out right laziness to reach out, and then put the credits so small and relatively transparent as to hope no one notices.... And not to mention not posting any of the "credited creators" channels in your description or bio.....
How do you explain the lack of credits in the one place where it would be most prominent and most likely to be searched for?
@@NonStick872 To reach out to each creator individually, while more ideal, would be prohibitive and is not required under the guidelines for fair use. Not adding the channel links to the description is an oversight on my part. I will correct that.
For your reference, I’ll quote a few paragraphs from the definition of fair use for you:
“Fair use is a doctrine in United States law that permits limited use of copyrighted material without having to first acquire permission from the copyright holder. Fair use is one of the limitations to copyright intended to balance the interests of copyright holders with the public interest in the wider distribution and use of creative works by allowing as a defense to copyright infringement claims certain limited uses that might otherwise be considered infringement.”
“The fair use right is a general exception that applies to all different kinds of uses with all types of works. In the U.S., fair use right/exception is based on a flexible proportionality test, that examines the purpose of the use, the amount used, and the impact on the market of the original work.”
Given that I am using a very short clip for the purposes of commentary on a topic I don’t see this being an issue. If anyone expresses that they don’t want me to use any portion of their content as reference material I will respect that. I choose to use clips from other creators only when I don’t have supporting footage for a topic. I do this in place of a clip of me staring at the camera. I feel this is a mutual benefit to the viewer and the creator whose content is featured. The viewer gets a more entertaining video and the creator gets more exposure. If a viewer’s interest is piqued by a clip that is featured they can visit that creator’s channel directly.
was that the spoon from moonbeam city
but wheres the quality comparison?!
Like I specifically got the xtool now, because all my previous ones had terrible alignment, once they went above 5watt. xtool 20watt is more precise (thin laser point) than any other brand Ive had so far.
Interesting and comprehensive.
However, my major concern is a missing filter for the exhaust. Depending on the material, the exhaust gas may contain some pretty harmful chemicals (e.g., Dioxins, PAHs, or heavy metals, to name just a few). These should not be allowed to just vent into the room, and actually, should neither be vented to the environment anyway. A cheap active carbon filter should easily be able to retain all of the harmful chemicals. But that doesn't seem to be included.
On a side note: I think you should change the title of your video. Otherwise people may not be able to find it when looking for cutting and engraving tools.
Can i engrave stuff on aluminum with this?
No. Wrong laser for the job.
Diode lasers can't engrave metals. They can mark surface of some metals like (some) stainless steel or titanium, and remove the anodised layer from anodised aluminium, but not actually engrave.
I believe you'd need a fiber laser but I may be wrong
I would say that the S1 is the much better value between the two lasers. Sure.. it costs more, but it can do more straight out of the box- which translates to a much quicker ROI. And the build quality appears to be much, much better than the Creality
Fair point!
i guess if you just put some closed loop steppers in the falcon 2. then the choice is easy and clear.
They need to create a Multi Materia feeder to completely overide Bambu
Well holy crap this video did well for you, huh? Nice work!
Thanks dude! Good thumbnail I guess hahaha
ill wiat for a faclon 3 that combines all the good features.
Its cool to have affordable lasers but I hope that they don't cheap out of informing people about the lasers itself and ventilation.
I started using the laser with the k forty which is a forty watt and in an enclosure.... And it's a quarter of the price of creality. And believe me, I'm a creality fan.I have four of their printers but this is not an accurate comparison compared to what's out there
Dude, your vids are getting better and better! I kinda want this thing now lol
Thanks man. Means a lot coming from you!
I hope they do an cnc so bad. There is a huge hole in the market for affordable cnc's
I started 3D printing with a Creality, and eventually moved to Bambu. Failed prints are non existent for me now.
Me too. I also got a cheap 160 dollar Walmart cnc
Any idea how many passes over the same area, straight line, would it take to cut through a piece of 1 mm sheet of steel with a 50 watt laser?
What type of laser?
Real life lasers are not like ones in movies, they don't work equally well on different materials.
A diode laser will not cut 1mm metal, no matter what any of the less honest laser sellers claim.
I used to work at Full Spectrum Laser and left right around the time XTool was making their big marketing push into lasers.
It’s wild seeing how cheap lasers have gotten in just 2 years.
Also, stay far FAR away from anything FSL even touches.
can U cut thick iron bar with it over long period of time? ^^
Given that once every few years things can go wrong with any tool (still remember that Dremel with a 1mm drill that slipped straight into my finger), wouldn't keep this thing anywhere near someone's house, cats, or children.
Yes this is such a good point
I got one, it’s refused to work from Day one, updated firmware, cleaned everything, rebuilt everything, checked every cable, uninstalled and re-installed it on lightburn.
Still creality are refusing to take it back, even their online CS said it was too complicated for them.
Pile of junk.
I wouldn't call the K1 a fraction of the price of the P1S....
Can they please create a cheap and reliable cnc machine ?
I got a $150 cnc new from Walmart.
I want to 3D print and laser cut!
I want creality to focus on miniature CNC machines.
these prices are insane though.
1200 bucks for a 600 dollar machine?
These machines can be useful if you work within their limitations. Diode laser machines cannot engrave transparent materials and may not be powerful enough for certain materials. They're also slow. If you need a fast machine which can etch glass and thick stuff, you should spend a bit more and get a CO2 laser machine instead.
i dont trust the 20w or even the 40w laser power. combining the laser beams with mirror doesn't mean the power increase at a linear rate
Now they just need to make an office paper printer that actually works.
Where are they made? If any part of it is assembled in China, I can't buy it.
The falcon2 Pro is a great unit. I love mine.
I had multiple diode lasercutters for several years, switched to co2 last year,CO2 is way superior ,I will never use a diode one again.
great - but it's 2k; For DIY I am in when it's 500
K40 CO2 ones are amazing. Faster, more powerful, cheaper
But all you can do with it is engrave those plates and Cups? ??? 3D Printer is massively versatile...
Creality doesn't make good hardware. They take good ideas and figure out the cheapest way to make it, which creates poor quality. I've had dozens of printers and not one creality was actually ready to go as it came from the factory. Creality is for the ultra tight budget, and beginner market. They are constantly putting out new machines without ever actually getting a single model done that's reliable.
I started with a Creality. Now I have a Bambu. My prints are done the first time and I move onto the next project. Most of the Creality community is printing mods to make their printers semi-usable. Don't get me wrong, Creality is a great starting point for learning the processes, but the low cost is not justification for spending hundreds of hours printing mods not to mention the lost filament due to failed prints. In fact, my Bambu spends much of the time idle, because I finish my project quickly and efficiently and sits until I'm ready for my next project.
cool!
I basically see no point of diode ones at this point... K40 is CO2 and is about 500usd
While it lacks a lot of the advanced features, it beats these in basically everything
I wish these were at least 40w CO2, then it would make sense at this price...
It's interesting that Creality is getting into this world, but it doesn't excite me. I've had 2 Creality printers. The Falcon 2 will be just like the creality printers; it'll work about 65%-75% of what's advertised for a few months. Then every component will start to break and you'll be riding the 'upgrade train' (read 'keep-fixing-crap train) to the point that nothing on the machine will be Creality and you'll wish you'd have just spent the money for the better machine in the first place.
Sketchup didn't work for most of the day
the safety on these laser devices is always INADEQUATE
We're asked to take advice from someone whose tables shake from the 3d printer movement, LOL
I was sorely disappointed with the falcon 2 40W laser. The spot size was terrible for something marketed with a "precision" mode. Hopefully they have come farther when it comes to their ability to combine beams. The offset that came with the machine also made engravings quite blurry out of the box. Much better experiences with other brands in my opinion.
Interesting. I hadn’t considered that being an issue. Perhaps that’s why they include the 1.6W by default with the 40W bundle.
@ygk3d the spot size is of great importance to me with detail engravings. I was hardly able to get a result that replicated my Snapmaker 10W laser(or 1.6W laser) in terms of quality/darkness. I am extremely happy with the Neje lasers that I bought, which outperform the Creality falcon 2 with half the power. I snagged a 10W Neje E40 and it's blown my expectations away after returning my creality machine.
They don't even advertise the laser dot size anywhere - or I wasn't able to find it.
That's how you know it's rubbish.
Exactly. For inexperienced buyers, the fqct that they are not advertising their laser spot size is a red flag. So glad I was able to return mine for a full refind. Shop through 3rd party retailer instead of their official shop. 10 attempted purchases on Creality website, and it still refused to go through. @YaaLFH

I had a couple people reach out to me out this video. It was mentioned that my footage was used. Typically when you use another creator's footage, you seek permission first. At the bare minimum use a lower 3rd that actually stands out, calling out the creator in the voice over, and properly tagging them and the video in the description. Unfortunately this has been on ongoing trend with 3D Printers and Laser lately. All it will take is that one that one creator to strike your channel. I am not the person to strike a channel, I am only giving you some advise for future content. Many thanks Tripod!
Hey Tripod. It’s pretty common practice to use clips from other videos with acknowledgment in the form of on screen text only (e.g. a lower third). It would be prohibitive to seek permission for every clip used in this context. But I hear you on adding links to the videos in the description. That’s a good suggestion. Hopefully you’ll get some traffic to your channel from those that want to learn more about the conveyer feeder.
@@ygk3d - As you mentioned, and I mentioned that it has been common practice as of late. However, does that make it right? No it doesn’t! If you really want to use another person’s content, then you should seek permission first. I received several DM’s about this video, some said that I wasn’t even mentioned. I reviewed the video and corrected them. I said that there was credit, but barely noticeable with a translucent lower 3rd. These really are not suggestions, it is best practices on how to use another creator’s content. This is no different than a mfg using your content for advertising that you didn’t give permission to use. I could really care less about traffic to my content. It is about taking ownership, and doing the right thing moving forward. I wish you the best on your creative journey 👍
@@TripodsGarage okay, I hear you. I will reflect on this and ask for some opinions from fellow creators. Thanks for your insights. Wishing you all the best in your creative journey as well.
@@ygk3d - I wanted to add! I am incredibly honored that you looked at me as a source for your video! Happy lasering!
@@TripodsGarageHey Tripod, I would submit a copyright claim. It has been a number of days and nothing has changed. Plus I am sure this video has gained a large number of views since then without proper credit. It appears that he isn’t taking what you said seriously, and hasn’t done anything that you said. Seems that him and The Next Layer have something in common, they ride on the coattails of others, and using other creators content to boost their own. At least The Next Layer does everything that you mentioned. What this person did was totally inappropriate and intentional. He basically made it where you could barely see the tag in the lower left. He has other titles like the pricing information that are bold, and cannot miss. Why make lower left credits barely noticeable? Not verbally say who it is?!Then lastly not even tag these creators in the description? Pretty simple, he didn’t want anyone to notice it wasn’t his footage. I say submit your claim, otherwise this will continue to happen.
Check your math for the build area. The Falcon is slightly LARGER, not smaller.
400mm x 415mm = 1,660 sq cm
500mm x 320mm = 1,600 sq cm
He did say slightly larger on the Falcon 2.....though it did misalign with the video image at the time
One absolutely *_VITAL_* variable you didn't mention is each company's reputation for product repairability/customer service/etc. Especially for a business, initially saving a few hundred dollars is utterly irrelevant if you lose _thousands_ of dollars while a machine is down and waiting for parts to ship from China or--worse yet--has to be shipped away to a service centre.
Why couldn't you put what the item was in the title or the preview picture? This crap of making me watch the start of a video that I end up not having an interest in is such a dumb trend, I go out of my way to tell YT to never recommend me channels that do that.

Do you know what Creality does worse than any of it's competitors? Profiles. Making really good profiles for slicers takes a lot of time, effort and work. Creality being a bunch of lazy fookers expects it's users to spend hours and hours and tonnes of filament trying to work out the perfect setting, which is why Creality will never be a Bambu Labs or a Prusa. Creality sucks at detail. As long as it bangs out a new printer it doesn't give a toss about the user experience.
Oh, they do a lot of things worse than any of its competitors, starting with build quality and customer service.
@@YaaLFH That's the compromise of a cheap printer to be honest. I have 2, a large format and a small printer. Both of which I have swapped the controllers out and upgraded in various ways.
