what I wouldn't give to hug my father like that, just one more time.
I think you understand me more than people I've known my whole life, and we've never met.
Read my previous post, and you will see we are very much alike even though I suspect nowhere close in age.
@@leonardhandzlik6008 I hug my boys and tell them I love them every time I see them. One day that time will be gone for them.
@@mattweisbart4061 good words. I lost my dad 30 years ago. My oldest son was born 4 years later. It’s our role to carry on from what our fathers taught us. When you have a child it opens up a whole new range of deep emotions. Always be a strong enough man to to tell your children you loved them and to hug them.
And hope you never loose one of them before they loose you.
Me too krispy me too
"How much I wanted to take scalps, but it was not my kill." Love that line. Brilliant movie.
I still want to take scalps 😂😂
@@fralexsa7154 You are not alone.
@@tyl8770 Yes !!!
Most badass line in film
Was that One Stab dancing with the knife? the narrator says a name but i dont what he says
They don't make movies like this anymore. It's a damn shame, because this film is a prime example of pure heart and dedicated storytelling.
such a shame there aren't any trans characters in it lol
Needs CGI, Shaky Cam(tm) ShakyZoom Cam(tm) Lens Flares(tm) and Fast Cuts(tm)

“Brother It Will Be An Honor” this scene always chokes me up and makes me wish I had a brother
Alfred's face when Tristan asks him is masterful. You can see exactly how much being asked to that means to him, and how serious he will take it. No small request from a brother.
I have 4 and wish I never knew any of them. You can pick your friends but you can’t pick family…
That is not the first time I have heard that . Numerous times I’ve heard my friends who have a brother or brothers and tell me they love their brothers but you don’t want a brother
Yes and he delivered the line flawlessly so believable and incredible piece of acting Quinn owned this scene in my opinion
Some brothers are not worth having. I wish mine had half his character.
I didn't like this movie as a young man, but now that I've lost my father and have a son, this scene make me cry every time.
Sorry for your loss, but damn, I first read that too fast and thought you said 'lost my father and son'!
🙏🙏
We were just jealous because girls were crazy about Pitt.
I still don't like this movie, but I feel you.
@@TheWolfWon You don't like it why, give us some reasons?
Such a underrated movie. A feeling of family and how it should always stick together through thick and thin.
Sometimes I wish my brother felt the same. Most times good riddance. 🥴💜
@@eddieh3580 oh I forgot you work for Empire.
Is it? What was it rated?
underrated? this movie won all kinds of stuff
@@CarlosRodriguez-vg2ob it is underrated. Good film fans will know what this film is. But alot won't and certainly younger ones wouldn't. Do a pole on the street and ask a load of people have you heard of gladiator? As a example then ask legends of the fall? And alot more would say they haven't heard of this.
Alfred’s arc in this movie is severely understated. I’ve learned to understand it better with age. Amazing movies stand the test of time.
how do you understand it?
If the feds are at your door giving yer kid rifle lessons i might be pissed off as well. Like wtf r u doin on my land?
I don't care what anyone says, this is one of the best movies in cinematic history and that's that!
No doubt about it!
Yes it is, all time favorite no other movie stands again love family and resilience
I saw it only once, many years ago, but I have never forgotten it.
This movie sucks
Never underestimate an old man wearing a full length buffalo coat!
Said by Jeremiah Johnson first I think
Hopkins nailed the stroke victim thing. My buddy had a stroke and that's his face...slow slow reccovery.
He did things "the right way" his whole life. All to make his father proud. His father loved Tristan more, still. As he was the embodiment of everything his father wanted to be. Whereas he was the embodiment of what had to be. In the end, the love of family united them, still. Heart-rending stuff.
I never thought about why his father didn't like him when I was younger. You really brought an interesting pov.. cool
intelligent review
One of the all time greatest films ever, I cry multiple times throughout this movie, every time I watch it. I'm 35, a combat war vet. This always touches my heart.
The soundtracks…
Thank you for your service brother.
Sorry you had to go thru that sh!t
Thank you for your service 🇺🇸

You have to watch the whole movie and this scene will mean so much more. One of the best movies I have ever seen. The setting, time, place, writing, acting, everything is amazing.
The only movie that has ever made me cry.
"Brother, it would be an honor".
There's a lot of love and respect in that sentence.
as a teenager I watched this film as a normal action film, but now as a father I always watch this with tears in my eyes.
This is not a perfect movie, but I have seen it at least 5 times, and it always makes me tear up. Similar to the ending scene in Field of Dreams when Kevin Costner asks his young Dad "Hey Dad, do you wanna have a catch". I am 81 years old, and my Dad died in 1985, but scenes like those between fathers and sons always makes me cry.
You only have 30 years on me!😊 I lost my Dad in 2015. I wish he could have watched my son growing up, and I'd like to be able to have coffee in the morning and do a good day's work with him...
@leonardhandzlik6008 I wish my Dad and I were close. When I was a kid, we shared some good times together, but there were some really bad too. He married a woman who abused me terribly and he'd turn a blind eye. I would visit him during the summers and Christmas breaks until I was 13 and couldn't take it anymore. I quit going as I got a summer job anyways.
As I grew up we still spoke on the phone until about 9 years ago that we had a falling out. We haven't spoke since and I'm 40 now.
So I guess if I have any words of comfort for you, don't be sad that he's gone but be happy that you two shared so many great times together. I hope you live many more happy and healthy years!
@@nothingleft3473 Well, thank you. I feel bad for you that you don't have a good relationship with your Dad. My Dad was my best friend and my hero. I still have never found a better golf partner. I am a truly lucky guy to have had a great father. I just wish I had him longer. I'm now 8 years older than he was when he died. I can't believe that.
Father and son are such special bonds.
Same. No shame.
One of the best scenes in movie history. Every actor played their part well. It did what it was supposed to do, bring our emotions into the movie to feel the Sense of vendetta, protection and restoration.
I love Anthony Hopkins. One of his best performances imo.
Cherish your father, not having one is a wound that never goes.
Sometimes you have a father you could never hug like that.
My earthly father is useless and religious. He has no honor.
Sometimes u get a father that abuses the shit out of u and it’s better to never have had one at all
And sometimes you never get to really know the man.
"What's going on here?"
"YEAH"
I love that scene!!!
me too, old man is real warrior
In my very humble opinion this is right up there with the very best westerns ever made...
Steps in front of his father... so powerful. Love this movie
This movie was absolutely amazing!! I teared up a couple of times watching this movie. One of Brad Pitts best!
when Tristens wife gets shot was just absolutely the worst...
It was ABSOLUTELY 1 of his best, probably THE BEST. It's so far away from the socialist that he is now. I hate that all the celebrities, the 1s that I liked watching, not much because I do not watch many movies, especially the newer 1s because they come out so fast these days that they just simply are not of the quality that the older classics are BUT because they all live in their multimillion dollar bubble presuming to tell us how we everyday average middle class citizens should think simply because its the way tgey want it! & THAT IS FOR 1 REASON ONLY,...because it works for them. If they could simply do what they do & SHUT THE HELL UP hinting at how we should fee,it woumd be differen. BUT THEY WON'T, NEVER WILL. Brad Pitt is all for socialism, he said as much on Colbert late night....PLEASE SHUT UP & STICK WITH WHAT YOU KNOW....ACTING
His best is pikey Mike in Snatch, excellent
@@markhedger6378 Nah, this is a much better movie. You may be right about Pitt's performance, if that's what you meant.
Not really, it's too much sentimental for my taste.
Missed my father a WW2 surgeon
Whom I lost when I was 8 years old.He was just like the Colonel .strict discipline and always do the right thing.now I am 72 and Even though he is gone for 64 years his spirit like that of the majestic brown bear is always with us guiding us.Dad I wish I have another hug like this.thanks for your guidance.bless your soul.🌹💝🙏
By far Anthony Hopkins best performance. Chokes me up every damn time.
Every Anthony Hopkins movie is his best performance. He can do anything!
The Edge
I have seen this movie numerous times. One of my favorites. It touches my heart every time I see it.
I wish my father gave me a hug like that, at least once, I would've it treasured
One of the best movies ever! It truly shows the unbreakable bonds of blood and family
It’s been a long time since Hollywood has made a movie like this
What a story, what a movie - one of the greatest ever.
Alfred’s redemption.
An excellent movie with outstanding performances. So much feeling and emotion 😢
The movie is as beautiful as its soundtrack. Brings me to tears everytime I watch it.
One of The Greatest Films Off All Time....
A great movie beautifully done. Just epic. My heart yearns to live in simpler times like this.
Simpler times really?
The best 🎥🍿🎥🍿🎥!!!! What beautiful scenery!!!! All the actor's on this wonderful movie, were remarkle!!!!! I could watch it over and over again... ❤️❤️❤️❤️...
Amazing cast, perfect soundtrack and acting… what more can you ask for ❤
That hug at the end!!! 🥹
Don’t think I ever watched the whole movie but I have seen this ‘scene’ at least a dozen times... It is the best scene of any movie I ever recall seeing!
Man you gotta watch it. It's one of the best movies ever made.
Absolutely need to watch it!
Well said. Especially if you are a father, it doesn't get any better
If you haven’t watched it yet… do. 🙂
Great true loving film
I could never get enough of this, my favorite movie and scene. I still live in Cuba and I thank all this team efforts to make me live (even here) how freedom fills like...thank you❤
Love, brotherhood and honour at it’s finest.
one of the best movies in my book
They just don’t make good movies like this anymore, sad
This is one of the most emotionals hugs of movies iv seen.
Yeah, this movie was always difficult to watch for me, made me cry.
Truly awesome scene to an outstanding movie! "What's going on here?", the horse knew what it had to do!
One of my favourite movies of all time. . This scene is a tearjerker
It’s sad we don’t have movies like this recently, much respect to the everyone involved making this movie
Una de las mejores películas de la historia del cine subestimada e incomprendida
Esta película es un mar de emociones.
I love how One Stab casts off his hat before the last mock scalping!!!
Respect between brothers at last
There is a time for forgiveness, there is a time for love, there is a time for tenderness, and sometimes, it's just time to do man's work.
an undefinable scene ... best I am able to muster is "well beyond brilliant" - professionals at work !!!
for a second, thought the child had pulled the trigger. immediate ending, all smiles.
Mr Brad is a good friend
of our family. He's had
dinner w/our family
several times.
He & my brother are very
good friends, school roommates.
This was one of his favorite roles
to play .
One of the best movies ever ❤
You MUST watch this entire movie to see how POWERFUL these few minutes are.
One of the greatest movies ever made. Definitely one of the best scenes ever filmed. To this day, one of my greatest fantasies is living that life, in that place at that time, just like Tristan.
Still my favorite movie of all time. Rips your heart out everytime though.
Alfred and his Father came together to save Tristan. One of the most dramatic scenes ever.
This scene gets me everytime.
wow, when I saw this movie I was very interested in the general arc of the story and until the moment of this scene I could say that the movie was pretty good, but this scene was totally unexpected because of the dramatic ending and the special connection that the men in this family they had when it came to defending their lives killing their enemies and staying together as a family, this is one of my favorite movies because of the message it has: family union in the face of all adversity, and man, this family went through problems and sadness but at the same time end all were united, EXCELLENT MOVIE 😃😃
hmmmm, by the way, THIS IS WHY THE SECOND AMENDMENT SHOULD REMAIN FOREVER, GUNS GIVE YOU BALANCE BEFORE INJUSTICES AND GIVE YOU THE POSSIBILITY TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY FROM SONS OF BITCHES

Oh jeez, stfu.
I swear if I never see another comment from some dope putting his toy collection above the next group slaughtered in a mass shooting that happens every other week in this country because he saw something kewl in a movie, it'll be too f*cking soon.
The 2nd is why American's are one of the few people's on the planet that are truly free. People need weapon's to defend themselves against the tyranny of the State. Now more than ever, 👍🔨🪓🌲🇮🇪🇮🇪
@@TheToolnut
"few people who are truly free"
Speaking straight out of your @$$ and sounding like someone who has never set foot in another country. There are like one hundred ninety-something nations in the world and somewhere around 130 have freedom. Most of those look at the US, where getting cancer means selling your house to pay you medical bills or where the majority of children who died are gunned down and they shake their head in disgust.
Still sends shivers up my Spine. The Music was awesomeness squared.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. This scene is amazing.
Brother, it'd be an honor.
A story about how one woman can destroy an entire family.
Yep
See you’re wrong! It had nothing to do with her!! Alfred wanted her, she loved Sam but Tristan stole her heart… she was a victim to her emotions… she lost Sam and fell for Tristan at a sad time, but ended up with Al by default he knew and still did it.. he broke the family and realized it after the fact

One stabs chanting and wanting to take their scalps gave me chills. Such a great scene to a great movie.
One hell of a film, some parts are so involved you only notice what you missed when you watch it again.
Great movie. Let's hope Hollywood doesn't try "re-imagine" this one (I'm sure they'd love to cast Jussie as Tristan)
