This was cinema. No CGI, no green screen, no stupid action. Just pure emotion, a story told in a real beautiful place, amazing script and incredible performances. God how I miss these kind of movies.
One true master piece of the 90s
Good cinema has nothing to do with pure emotion, but with high intelect and sound moral values
Amen Bruder!
I miss these kinds of incredible "MASTERPIECES " as well..But maybe,..just maybe people in the movie industry will become creative again and soon I hope.
@@kimberlyjohnson3136 why when studio's only want what fits in to predefined formula. Most action movies are just Die Hard in a new place, with new protagonist. They all follow the same format, hero identified, hero humanized, hero vanquished, hero comes back and wins, end of movie. Until studio's go back to creativity over formula, we won't see real masterpieces. All we get is recycled trope.
Technology should not overtake story telling, 90s before Jarrasic Park were all good story telling. That is why i got tired of avenger movies. No soul, just visual delusion.
Beautiful film, beautiful music, beautiful scenery, beautiful Brad Pitt
The 4 Bs? That's absurd!
Mostly Beautiful Brad Pitt
PERFECT

I wanted to write the same. Totally agree!
When Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt teams up in a movie, it automatically becomes a classic.
This movie touches my soul… all the actors are great.. Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Aiden Quinn and Julia Ormond, just a wonderful, wonderful masterpiece 👏🏻👏🏻
and mine...
James Horner was one of the best composer of his generation.

@@seizethemovement9288 ?
True
No. He was best IN THE WORLD AND CENTURY.And Not one of best. Just best.
@@seizethemovement9288 no, bulshit. Nothing comperes with mr. Horner. Hes genius makes movie great
Despite their intense rivalry and sour relationship, I always felt that Tristan and Alfred both loved and admired each other for the qualities they didn't have in them. Alfred envied Tristan for his charm & his reckless abandonment of every rule AND Tristan admired Alfred for his self discipline and his wisdom that's why he entrusted the care of his kids to his older brother who called it a great "honour"... a tear jerking moment for me... For all their rivalry, they were true brothers till the end ❤
So True.... So True...
I grew-up with 7 brothers...you are on point!!!..that's why this movie hit home!!
Impeccably true
@@lmao6t Thank you. That's why we can all relate
@@KenyaTheMighty thanks
This is Brad Pitt at his finest. His acting is superb and he is absolutely gorgeous. What a treat!
I don't think many people know or appreciate what an absolute tragic loss it was to lose James Horner. He was behind some of the most memorable movie compositions in history and pretty much all my favorite movies growing up. American Tail, Aliens, Willow, The Abyss, Glory, Legends of the Fall, Titanic, Field of Dreams just to name a tiny few. Goosebumps and tears when I always listen to this soundtrack. RIP to a legend.
Apollo 13 👌
Yes - James Horner was a great composer & my favorite. He is sorely missed.
I agree with you completely. Legends Of The Fall, Braveheart, Aliens, Cocoon, The Spitfire Grill and The Devil's Own scores are my favorite scores of his. One small correction, The Abyss was not made by Horner, but by Alan Silvestri another great composer. Horner did not work with James Cameron between Aliens and Titanic.
❤ I do miss him a lot... an amazing composer... one of the best in our time... James Horner will be remember always ❤
One of the best movie i have ever seen
I concur with that!
Indeed well said
@@almighty5839 definitely definitely of course ❤❤❤
one of the saddest movies i have ever seen
One of the best too
@Oliver FloBdorf - Agreed.
life itself ! nothing less nothing more
Yes it’s great movie but taboo.
Yes Legends of the fall was very sad in some parts of it especially the graveyard scene. Its tuff to lose a close family person.
the casting of the brothers as young boys is eerily brilliant
This movie and music have been with me since i was 7 years old in 1994!
I love everything about it! It was my inspiration as a man as a nature and horse lover!
I will never forget when my mother’s friend came to our home and said you son looks so much as Brad Pitt!
We did not know who he was and we watched the movie and become magical in our lives!
I just want to say thank you to all the people who made that movie and Mister Horner you should be in paradise right know cause only angel can compose such an amazing music!❤
I was lucky enough to work on Legends. I had just graduated from film school in Calgary and I was hired to work on the extras casting crew. There were hundreds of extras on Legends.
It ran like a well oiled machine. Their uniforms were vintage actual World War I uniforms. They were from Britain. They were heavy itchy wool which drove a lot of the guys crazy. Interestingly men were a lot smaller in those years and I think the largest chest size we had was 42.
For the battle scenes wardrobe and props put nearly 700 guys through and they were just amazingly well organized.
The young men who played the soldiers actually went to a boot camp for six weeks and were divided into battalions. Their commander was a former Green Beret from the US. A great guy named Rock. I subsequently worked with Rock on several other films. One of my favourite guys.
I have many great memories from working on that film. I was standing behind the trenches when Aidan Quinn came out during the night time fire fight.
There were over 200 explosions. There were vintage World War I cannons from Virginia firing. The noise was astonishing and literally rattled your clothing. I can understand why young men came back from that war with PTSD, which in those days they called being shellshocked. Just the bloody noise was enough to rattle you to your core.
It was all amazingly choreographed. I believe there were seven cameras rolling. Several on large cranes. It was shot I think five or six times through that night and every time looked exactly the same with every guy pretty much knowing where they were supposed to run where the explosions were going to go off etc.
It was August and we were near Calgary but it was freaking cold and there was a weird mist in the air which actually I think worked quite well for the filming.
We had very long days and nights. But it was a great experience. Probably the most etched in my mind is watching Henry Miller‘s death scene. When he was caught against the Barbwire and that terrible haunted and terrified look on his face and he looked so childlike in that moment. There were several burly Teamsters standing near me and let me tell you they all had tears in their eyes.
I was lucky enough to grow up in Canmore, in those glorious mountains you see so often.
Also watching this it was great to see Gordon Tootosis, I wonderful Canadian actor I knew slightly from the TV series North of Sixty. A great guy with a hilarious sense of humor. Sorry to say that Gordon has passed on.
So many memories. Walking the trenches and the Army Hospital in the heat of August afternoons on those long days waiting for extras to come back to get wardrobe secured etc. etc.
It’s been along time since I’ve watch this film. I think it’s time to watch it again. ❤️ it is damn sad though. And beautiful.
Did you get to see Brad pitt though
Thanks for sharing! How was Brad? I heard he was a nice guy!
Thank you for sharing this with us, the movie as well as the music brings many tears !!!
Incredible. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
MAM IT WAS HENRY THOMAS NOT HENRY MILLER. THANK 4 SHARING. STAY SAFE.
One of the best movies that i have ever seen. Its unfair how Brad Pitt is underrated as an actor. He is absultely genius actor but no one even mentiones that..
wtf ? brad pitt underrated ? in what world do you live ?
Alma Fuerte he means that Brad Pitt is famous for his looks more than his talent, which is a shame
Ibrahim Jamaawil thats not true, he was in really great móvies !!!! And very important directors work with him
He’s worked with amazing directors l, he’s a sought after A-list actor with a swarm of fans. Everyone says how beautiful he was during this era and even now. He won an Oscar for his acting. He’s also been involved with numerous Academy Award winning films as one of the top producers in Hollywood. He married “America’s Television Sweetheart” and then married what _some_ considered the most beautiful woman in the world at the time of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. He’s a worldwide _international_ superstar (which I’d say less than only 10 men are in acting) In what world is he underrated? I’m trying to find it.
@@CJLOVE23 He means that Brad Pitt trends to be more recognised in the whole world for his looks. As an example of what beauty should be.
Not so many people - and I dare to say, most of the people- really know so much about him as an actor. I mean, about his career, about his talent. He is underrated as an actor.
This was filmed in my Beautiful Province of Alberta Canada. I fell in love with Mr. Pitt at this point in my life. And would have done anything to be Julia Ormand . Life’s funny that way.
I think that this is one of the most underrated movies ever!
The best movie. I don't remember the number of times I watched. At first I counted. In my teenage years. But I swear it was more than 130 times, then I really lost count. I knew the lines/text by heart. Love, love, Brad Pitt! 🇧🇷 💚
I agree! This movie and "The english patient "will rest in my list ,like the best movies! And " The pianist" also!
Best of the best
Me too
38 times and counting! I love it
Indeed it's a beautiful movie❤️
I will watch this movie with my kids when they are old enough. And I will cry just like the first time.
You could see it their eyes how Alfred and Tristan instantly fell in love with Samuel's wife but in different ways.. what a classic film!
Man does Brad look gorgeous in this movie!
James Horner is truly a genius, this music is beautiful
All his music from heaven and heart. The One.

AGREED... A GENIUS

I miss those kind of movies.Brad Pitt is an excellent actor and he looked so good in period dramas.
whats a period drama?
Kostenis a television or film production set in a particular historical period and characterized by the use of costumes, sets, and props that are typical or evocative of the era.
This is the most visually stunning movie ever!
✨😇✨Brad Pitt was _thee_ epitome of pure beauty in this film. He took my breath away
So agree with you
Beyond beautiful
Its 2019 and Im thinking...they just dont make themes like they used to ! RIP James
@Javakes - Agreed.

With all my respects to James Horner, and being this one of my favorites soundtracks of all times we have Hans Zimmer...if you don´t know him, I bet he was in your life more than you think trought all of his films.
@@braiscalolopez yh he's great but can't compare to John Williams for example. Hanz is a modern tech composer, he fails in every aspect when compared to James hornet n John Williams. Beasts of the classical world.
Oh, they’re still out there. Max Richter for instance. I just discovered Dustin O’Halloran. There’s a couple of Icelandic guys. You just gotta keep an open mind.
This is what made Brad Pitt the actor he is today !!
What a legend!!!
One of the most epic movies of all times with such beautiful music compositions.
Full of harmony. Only a few composer are able to produce such wonderful classical music...WoW
I love this movie but I just cannot watch it anymore...it's just such a sad and heartbreaking movie to watch.

When compelling story, gorgeous cinematography, and sweeping score meet, you get a rare and stunning film like Legends.
What a beautiful movie! I rewatched it during quarantine for the 100 times... and I can tell you that I still cry like a baby!!
how do you feel ?
I am a chinese, through this movie I can feel US people love their land so deeply, love their family, love the nature too, sorry my english is not good, that’s all I can express

My dad taught Brad Pitt to sail for this movie, they originally planned some twenty minutes of sailing, apparently.
Nice, Thanks for sharing that info.
I would have loved to sail with Brad Pitt
Cool
Wow!! That is so cool😃
Great, so your dad is a sailor, thx for the info
There is something about this movie... i've seen it a 100 times but still gets me every time. The music brings me back to my dorm room where i was the first time i saw it. Brad wa great in his role i must add !
Agreed this movie always breaks me down how can something be so tragic yet beautiful
Yes - the movie belonged solely to him
just watched it for the first time in my dorm room as well haha
This was the entry music for my wedding 😍
It’s so sad. I would not like it for my wedding.
Are you sure? This music is about sadness and tragedy
OMG. You must not have seen the movie. just listened to the song.
@@travellerworld8966 nope, I hadn't seen the film until 5 tears later x
I would’ve made the same choice! I love this soundtrack.
A hauntingly beautiful movie... One of my all time favorites... How could something be so tragic and incredibly beautiful at the same time! It reminded me of the great novels of the 19th century... Amazing cast and incredible moments among the Ludlow family ...In some strange way, i could empathize with all 3 of the Ludlow brothers... Thanks for uploading this...
It’s based off a novel that’s probably why
I think that was the point…emphasizing with all 3
I watched it with my mom and she cried.......
I agree 100%. I loved this movie. Such beauty and heartbreak. Haunting and gut wrenching. The sound track touches my soul.
Ah oh. I just remembered my childhood days when I first watch this wonderful movie way back 1990's. Nostalgia

There isn't another movie in this world that will take you through so many emotions in one movie and it's the beautiful soundtrack by James Horner that brings it all together!
I can't get this georgeous instrumental music out of my head!!!
Yes, extremely beautiful and haunting at the same time. ❤️
This theme has been used in countless "In memoriam" and other montages at the Oscars. It should have won one in its own right.
I thought it had.
I thought it did too
It did really? When?
I was raised in a large field. It was a nice childhood, my grandma still lives there. I go from time to time, and it warms my soul, I have always liked this kind of movies, when you are surrounded by nature everything is different. You can explain it with words really.
This movie is about honour, love, and life it's a must watch movie to me.
Great music, cast, photography, everything! Thanks for sharing it
God the end at 5:25 breaks my heart seeing the picture when times were simpler and everyone was happy, just shows that family is the most important thing in the world and the loss of one can cause the loss of all.
❤ One of my ten best movies ❤ Excellent actors/actresses, Excellent crew, Excellent screenplay, scenarios and photography and the best soundtrack by the late James Horner ❤
Saw it the first time yesterday with my mom together, she saw it like 15 years befor. We were crying our hearts out. Beautiful Movie.

One of the greatest movies I’ve seen and I know I say this a lot about tons of movies but this is up there without a doubt, how can something be so tragic and heartbreaking but so beautiful at the same time, makes me cry every time and I’m not afraid to admit that.
One of my favorite movies. So passionately done.
The true redemption happened when alfred kill the officer the save his brother and father...and only then his father loved him truly
His father had always loved him, what he couldn't forgive was that Alfred had become what he himself hated for so long. He was mad cuz it seems that Alfred had forgotten family comes first... until that moment.
