Brad Pitt in this movie was absolute perfection in terms of looks
Honest;y this movie is so underrated. Should’ve been nominated for so many Oscars!
@@adrianrosado2223 sometimes gems like this movie and Gatacca are too good for the academy awards
@@rotyler2177 VERY true!
100%!
@@rotyler2177.. .. i frikin love Gattaca….verrrrry underrated movie…
One of the saddest movies I’ve watched. So much loss and tragedy within the family - just heart breaking.
I don’t think he was ever in love with her, I think he cares for her and loves her as a person but he doesn’t love her the same way she loves him. Honestly I don’t understand why she didn’t just move away after her first husband died. The fact that she slept with all the brothers is creepy to me. I never liked her in the movie
Yeah. It's kind of weird that she slept with all 3 bros. 🤔😛😜🥴
I beloved they loved each other , but he was still broken over his brother’s death. She did try to leave after Samuels passed, but was asked to stay until winter passed and she was an orphan too. She loved Tristan and cared for Samuel, but not Alfred
She never slept with Samuel. He left for the war before they could marry.
@@michelleonuorah7142 the least she could of done before he left was put out my god can't even be a proper hoe
She didn’t sleep with the first one it wasn’t like that I’m that time period. The second she did sleep with but the third she slept with as his wife.
Poor Susannah. She loved the wrong man. And poor Alfred, as he loved the wrong woman.
I always thought Aidan Quinn was the most attractive one. If I were her, he would have been my first choice. I would have never let Tristan treat me like a cum dumpster.
she was infatuated , not love
She went thru the entire family she was a skank and they were simps
It's almost like they purposely make movies less beautiful since the late 2000's. This entire scene is physically gorgeous in every way imaginable. Plants, architecture, both actors....etc....
Couldn’t agree more. To me no more substance in movies. All computer and marveled out. Miss a real 🎥 movie.
Yes it looked like a painting. The world is ugly now.
Totally agree steven gorgeous movie
She’s in love with him completely , he only loves her…
In the 2000's there were still good movies... but since 2010's it get worse and worse... now we have woke left propaganda movies... thanks
People say Isabella could only tame Tristan but that’s not true. Isabella would have been treated the same way had she Been old enough the first time Tristan left. Tristan was too restless and afraid of being tied down to a woman and a family when he was with Susannah. It would have been the same outcome for Isabella if she had been old enough. Isabella only lucked out. Like a lot of younger women, because by the time Tristan came back, he was ready to settle down. That’s the story of virtually every aging bachelor. They waste the time of beautiful women their age, just to settle down with another woman years later, because THEY’RE now ready.
It has literally nothing to do with one woman having that special quality. It’s literally the right place, right time.
Exactly! very well said
I agree, but also, Tristan was very much drawn to the Native American traditions and Isabel2 was probably more compatible with him. I don’t think he could have committed to Susanna even if he did love her, because he would always see her as Samuel’s fiancé, and it is said in the film that Samuel was the one Tristan loved the most.
You are so right. You have to catch a man in the right time of his life.
Wow...sooooo true!🎉
There is truth to that, but remember that Susannah indirectly caused a rift between the brothers while Isabel 2 was a clean slate, so even if Tristan left and came back, Isabel was the less chaotic choice.
Julia Ormond never looked more beautiful than in this scene. The dress, the hair... just stunningly and hauntingly gorgeous.
Yeah but she was poison to that family.
@@lewstone5430 no she wasn’t, the family were poison to HER.
@@DeepScreenAnalysis look at all the bad luck that came to them once she showed up! And Pitt(ing) (see what I did 😜) two bros against one another! Shameful!
@@lewstone5430 they all wanted her, even the father. She was a victim IMO.
@@DeepScreenAnalysis the father wanted her?? No no no I definitely remember that was not the case.
One of the things that makes this movie is so endearing is that we can feel for each of the main characters. The actors do a great job of conveying their characters' strengths and flaws while remaining sympathetic. Alfred, who's probably the best of his brothers, is responsible and earnest, but unfortunately insists on being with a woman who'd never love him the way he she did Tristan or even Samuel. Tristan, who is wild, independent and single-minded, always acts with what he feels in the moment, which is what draws people to him but also alienates him from the people he loves as he often doesn't consider the impact of his decisions.
Samuel is well-meaning and brave but naïve about the world in his pursuit of glory, which sadly ends up cutting his life short. Susannah is beautiful and cultured and desires freedom from social restrictions and expectations, which is what naturally draws her to Tristan. However, it seems to me she was more in love with the idea of Tristan, then Tristan himself. You feel for her because she is the reason the family is falling apart but she clearly isn't doing it deliberately. It's simply a byproduct of being the only beautiful woman in a house of young men. Her desire to be needed and need to be desired is what causes her life to find a tragic end. Lastly, we have the Colonel who loves all of his sons but having favorites is always destructive in families.
When I saw this in the movie theater, I balled like a baby. Such a sad and tragic story. Everybody likes to bash on Susanna as if all the boys ran through her. But truly women in those days didn’t have many options, didn’t have the ability to work or be independent and really relied on men and marriage to exist. Tristan was Susanna’s true love, but Tristan was too tormented and simply wasted her time and her heart. She was broken from their encounter as many women are when men Are done with them
Brad should have won an oscar for this movie
I dont understand hollywood
This movie is a classic👍
I honestly think it took a while before people really took him seriously as an artist because of how beautiful he is. People came around eventually.
same reason leo didnt get an oscar until his 40s
they saw them as pretty boys who could put the girls in the theaters, and nothing more.
i still find it fascinating though because brad pitt proved himself as an amazing actor since 12 monkeys, and leo since whats eating gilbert grape.
@@ImNeoFrI absolutely agree
Aidan Quinn is excellent.
Absolutely agreed! And Anthony Hopkins should have received one for best supporting actor. This movie is epically underrated! And will always be in the top five films of all time to me, the way that it comes together at the end is nothing short of a masterpiece!
God, Brad pitt looked sooooo good with long hair ❤😊
His long, blond hair.....!!!!!! The prime!
No need to blaspheme
He’s the only man that can pull off long hair I loved him in Troy too
I liked when he buzzed his head for fight club. I think he was getting tired of the "pretty boy" image he so rightly earned.
Unless you like watching actual pain on screen, don’t watch this movie! It’s an actual nightmare on screen! I saw this movie when it was released as a senior in high school. Seen it about 5 more times after that and it still broke my heart. Haven’t seen it in almost 15 years and it still causes pain. It deserved its Oscar for cinematography.
John Toll did win the Oscar for that category., along with Braveheart.
I’d need to disagree, it was an amazing drama…some grew and some gave up, it’s life.
It’s a beautiful film! The score, the scenery… I have to watch it at least once a year.
Me too, especially when he tries to save Samuel. Then he lost his wife. Just a painful rollercoaster.
@NeoJudus I agree, it’s just a pain-fest. I’ve seen it twice, maybe three times. Never again. It’s beautifully shot, with great scenery and acting, but with horrible emotional pain.
Bloody Brad Pitt!!!!!! How can one man be so eternally gorgeous ❤❤❤
I believe all three of the brothers fell madly in love with her.
This movie was the first time I saw Brad Pitt. I almost fell out of my chair when he entered the first scene. I was immediately taken by him. I knew he was going to be BIG. BRAD, STILL LOVE YOU!
I Wholeheartedly agree...Although it was not my first time seeing and adoring Brad Pitt, when he rides up and hops off of his horse upon Samuel's return home, he is the most beautiful that he has ever been. Great actor, but physically beautiful for sure....
Tristan wasn’t any good for any woman after the death of his brother. He blamed himself and has a mental lapse. He needed time to heal and forgive himself.
I cant imagine the retakes on that "forever turned out to be too long" and brat pitts "i know" there are so may ways that "i know" line could've been delivered and still it never fails to this day to make me choke up on emotion
❤
When I was in high school...my mom's boyfriend at the time gave me this movie. He thought it was something I would like, and he wasn't wrong. Legends of the Fall is my favorite movie of all time. There's just something about a tragic love story, and family drama that makes a great film. This movie is beautiful on screen. I love it still.
It has an incredibly beautiful score as well, by the great James Horner who composed it. It is sprawling and deeply emotional.
@rachelm3173 .You are absolutely 100% right in everything you have stated, couldn't have said it any better. Such an absolute brilliant film, have seen it many times and it NEVER fails to break my Heart. So Bravo!
Julia Ormond is one of the most beautiful & gorgeous Hollywood actress in the early 90s
She's always reminded me of Juliette Binoche!
@@suzanne1392 Ikr... they look similar in appearance. Julia is like the English's Juliette Binoche
That movie could never have been too long! Brad Pitt & the cast were excellent!!
The cinematography in this film is exceptional. 🙏🏼
I’ve watched this scene so many times. Their skills the facial expressions, OMG, they’re both so beautiful this scene. 😭
This film in the theater was gorgeous. I went four times.
This moovie its just a epiphany of greatness. Her pain and depth of love for Tristan was written on her face every single scene❤❤❤
When i look at Bratt Pitt in this movie my heart always skip a few beats drop dead gorgeous
He was infatuated with her, he realised it when he met his soon to be wife. She loved him and lasted for him and her marriage was a constant confirmation of the life she wanted to live but could never have. This is why she couldn't take it and move on. He had seen too much so he couldn't just settle down in a life that she would have liked, he wanted peace of mind, something she could have never given him. So he weighed things up and took his decision with his logic, then his heart followed. She, on the other hand, took the reasonable desicion that her heart hated every single day. She ought to have left. But sometimes people don't have the courage it takes to move on.
I think this was of his best movies ❤❤
Beautiful movie!♡
0:07 ... Goodness! ... What a ridiculously gorgeous man!
Still is but his life hasn’t been the best
He was breathtakingly beautiful.
This is the most Brad Pitt of a Brad Pitt movie
I just noticed that Isabelle immediately put the ring on the 4th finger of her left hand.
good eye!
Legends of the Fall is one of my favorite movies, long or not.
YOU HAVE GOOD TASTE 👍
A moment in time of a very special love that comes along once in a Lifetime, if your lucky enough to catch it and keep it….. one of my best movies ever…. 😢♥️
Tristan had too much of a wild nature and as a result was hard to get close to! Anyone with a wild personality like his is always restless and no one can persuade them to stay and must always be away regardless of how long they will be gone!💔😔
This movie was just a 2 hour Ad showcasing Brad Pitt’s good looks
Yes! He was so compelling in looks and character. A perfect role. Beautiful and interesting movie. Instant timeless classic, the whole cast was amazing
My thought exactly about Troy
@@inesg3087me too 😂I only watch it for Brad Pitt I watched it a few weeks ago and I finally paid attention to the storyline for once. Mind you I’m in my 30s now and seen it the first time it came out but I was too distracted with Brad pits good looks
Oh yeah, it did that.
It was definitely advertised like that. I thought the movie was a disappointment, considering all the hype thrown at it.
The only R movie I snuck into with a friend when I was a teenager lol. I'm so glad it was this one. I adored painful, tragic romance stories, and this was exactly perfect (And so was the cinematography, of course). This will always be one of my favorite movies.
Tristan loved Susanna passionately. He left because he could not handle his grief over Samuel's death. They were beautiful together. A stunning & heartbreaking movie filmed in Bragg Creek in the mountains near Calgary
Isabelle too was beautiful and that was the love of his life . Unfortunately, he lost so many people he really loved. What an unimaginable heartbreak, the mischievous ones always have the biggest hearts and he sure did He was robbed of an Oscar that year. That was the most brilliant performance in my opinion in his career.
Everybody fell in love with tristan
Brad Pitt masterpiece masterpiece with this fi watched in interview, he said films are exhausting. But this one meant something this was special
This is the coolest Brad Pitt film I've ever watched.I forget what year it was in the 90's,i first saw in on TV when i was a teenager. The story is really cool
1994
No way man. You have to see Fight Club as Tyler Durden. I also like his role in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."
Dear Lord, my heart is pounding so fast just looking at him.... My God!!!! ❤❤❤.. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.....
Tristan had a wild spirit and the only woman who could truly understand this, and love him was Isabella.
I do not think so. He married Isabelle after Susannah married his brother
No. Isabella wasn’t wild and free. She was young. Her luck was her youth. Most women who marry restless men like this, afraid of being tied down, end up being the “right” fit only AFTER that man has sowed his oats, explored the world, and basically is now old and more settled.
If Isabella had been older when Tristan first left, he would have likely done to her what he did to Susannah.
@@missym877 I'm agree with you
Well to be fair, Tristan taught her how to work the shaft, and got up in her guts, when she was twelve. Can’t blame him, though. 🤤
This is a beautiful exchange of emotion. Our lives are a gift from God. If we believe in love, then we realize everything else is meaningless.
The only movie I watched two times on a row!! Directly. Could not handled it that it finished.
Can we give a huge shout out to James Horner!!!???? My word the music in this movie is incredible. He also did glory and braveheart. So so beautiful. Rip James Horner
He’s so beautiful & thoughtful
I watched this movie SO many times as a young teen. I thought it was completely perfect. I planned on naming my son Tristan and everyone ended up copying me, lol. As I got older I ended up liking the name Samuel better. Then the LOTR's came out and Sam the Brave kind of sealed the deal on that name. I never did have my boy. I lost my 3rd baby, but I am sure it was a boy. River or Samuel he would've been named. I loved Brad Pitt more than life in the 90's, and I distinctly remember sitting between by two brothers at the movie theater as they both fell asleep while watching Interview with the Vampire and I was completely smitten and transfixed at only 12 years old. I've been a Cinephile ever since. The magic of movies overtook me that day, and it's doubly special to me because I have only seen my brothers once in over 20 years, and they loved me so much and I them, and it is one of the only memories I have with them. A River Runs Through It however is my all time favorite movie of Brad's, and just in general and always will be. It is a perfect and special beautiful film and I am due for a rewatch. I introduced my oldest daughter to Meet Joe Black a couple months ago and she LOVED it. It had been so long I had forgotten a lot of it and how great it was, and my mind was completely blown when I realized for the first time that it is over 3 hours long! Anyway, I never did get married, but my true love will always be Brad, or maybe River Phoenix in his Dogfight days. Thank God for movies. I don't know what I would have done without them. ❤ ✨️
I also loved this movie so much when I was young. It's so special. I also had planned on naming my boy Tristan, but like you, I never had my boy.
@Mrs.Currie Aww. Hugs ❤️
Beautiful movie about life.
Words fail me every time .
The movie I never speak of to anyone...
At the end of the day it all comes down to this, That it is a GOOD STORY and the way that stories delivered, from the old Bardic tradition to modern day filmmaking.
So GREAT HEART'S all over alike have this Kinship or connection. It never ceases to amaze me that people that have watched TLotF and comment on it all have this common connective theme running through them, one of love, compassion, loss, suffering, passion and tragedy.
So all you Great Heart's out there who hold this film dear to them, you naturally are drawn towards beauty and compassion. It just struck me so and i just wanted to express my feelings to you all for admiring this Masterpiece of great filmmaking or storytelling.
Such a good movie
I used to go camping at the Stoney Reserve, where they shoot some part of the movie. Alberta scenery. I love my Alberta and I love legend of the fall what a great movie, my top 5
I feel for her so much...she was so heartbroken.
Brad Pitt is definitely a handsome man. I don’t suppose I have to even say that…right? Very sad movie though.
She loved him so much and her heart was broken 💔 he did love her as a person but she just couldn't get over it, so sad just so sad 😢
Any sensible/wise woman would’ve moved on, no matter how painful, after he left and wrote her to forget about him. After that you’re asking for trouble and it’s all on you.
@@lewstone5430 True, but still so sad 😢
@@pamscroggy4737 true, still sad, and unfortunately people find themselves in those situations irl and hopefully they learn from them.
@@lewstone5430Susannah never struck me as sensible though in all fairness to her. Tristan’s mother even said she was “lovely but fragile”so someone like that probably doesn’t move on easily and the fact she was clearly infertile and couldn’t have a child probably didn’t do her any favors. She was a tragic character for sure.
Tristan loves Susannah but she loves him more and cant let go.
FYI, this scene was shot on location in Vancouver, BC, Canada at the Canuck Place Children's Hospice.
@yohsn2437-Children’s hospice…it’s sad that a place like that even exists.
The acting in this movie was epic and Brad Pitt was simply gorgeous (before Angelina sucked the life out of him).
I still wonder what happened to Julia Ormond. She was so gorgeous, and such a talented and sensitive actress. She could have been just as big as Brad. I hope it was by choice that she didn't, and that she's happy.
She’s still around & still as beautiful. 😊
She’s okay. She isn’t a bombshell or gorgeous to the degree you speak to be some Hollywood bombshell. She also doesn’t seem like she has that big of a personality to be a movie star.
She’s always come across as a bit dull to me
@@missym877 As apparent by my post, I strongly disagree. It does seem like she was regarded as an A-lister for a while as well, she got leading roles in several big movies. Judging from her statements, it seems she disliked the attention and the superficiality of Hollywood, and escaped into smaller movies and stagework. Guess that's as close as one comes to an explanation.

Nothing like a beautiful girl to get you over a beautiful girl.
The best remedy for a heartbreak.
Poor thing when crazy over him 😢😢. This movie is amazing.
They were both emotionally immature.
It’s perfectly wonderful
And Julia Ormond is perfect as well ! Damn, i want to watch it again
She could have waited forever or marry someone else. But marry his brother sealed her faith🤷🏽

Nobody ever mentions the fact that Tristan ends more settled with a beautiful Indian woman not a white woman. She understood him and he her on a very deep level. The scene when he leaves the first time once he was with Suzanna, the little Indian girl was seen running after him you could see there was a connection there of some sort.
True, Isabel Two always loved him, but she had to grown up then he grew to love her too.

I think she was obsessed, but I don’t think he loved her.
Sounds like maybe you haven’t been in love?
I didn’t see her as being obsessed with him I think she just never got over him and seeing him marry and have a family pushed her over the edge.
She also felt guilt over Samuels’ and Isabelles’ deaths because she still had feelings for Tristan from the moment she met him until her death.
Soul ties are unbelievable.
