I’m 55yr, back in the 60’s & 70’s , I would be taken up to the Hospital to visit my Grandmother & would often find her sitting on the hospital’s veranda ,high in the sky basking in the Sun, overlooking the City. The hospital Staff would also roll out patients in there beds & leave them to catch some morning Sun. Now those same hospitals have all enclosed the verandas & made them into wards. Such a great travesty. I make it a habit to go sit in the morning Sunshine, if the Sun is hot on your skin get into the Shade, 10-20 mins, with no feeling of burning is the key & you will get the slightest of tans, you will look & feel healthier as time goes. 🙏💜🕯🇦🇺Australia.☀️😎

@@fattyfinn2505 the slip, slop slap campaigns are doing the right thing while unfortunately being misunderstood by most people. We want to limit ultraviolet rays which hats, long sleeve shirts, sunglasses & sunscreen does while still getting an abundance of infrared outdoors. Because people don't understand or care about the differences they assumed cancer risk dropped being a hermit inside an office & home. Then on top of that the switch to led bulbs means we get no infrared indoors, of course the energy savings makes more sense then sticking to incandescent which provides a very small amount compared to the sun.

I live in the UK where the sun is relatively weak and the summers relatively short, but even so for all of my life I have been unable to tolerate the sunshine for more than twenty minutes due to my skin getting irritated and white and red blotches on the exposed parts. Sunscreen was the only way for me to get out and about at times. I thought it was because I am terribly pale skinned. Since February of this year I have been following a Keto diet and I realised early this summer that I was able to spend hours outside gardening without my skin showing any changes or signs of stress with the sunshine at all. It's a very unexpected and eye opening side effect of Keto!

When I was very young, I suffered from a sunburn on my left shoulder blade (the only sunburn I really had). Almost 45 years later, I was diagnosed with a basocellular carcinome the size of a pencil eraser which was surgically removed. The dermatologist told me that it was sun related. A basocellular carcinome is the most benign form of cancer you can have as it is not metastatic. People that have light-colored eyes like myself (I have grey eyes), are more susceptible to these forms of cancer due to sunburn. UV light therapy can be used to treat psoriasis and other autoimmune conditions because it modulates the inflammatory response from our immune cells. Like the doc said: ''The sun in itself is not hazardous. Just don't get a sunburn''.

    Winter is such a downer,
when we don't get much sun.
That's why people love to visit tropical locations anytime of the year, because it makes them feel fantastic to be in the Sun!
And the strange thing is, I don't think there's a whole lot of skin cancer cases in those areas that are sunny all year around, but somehow in America, we seem to have a lot of skin cancer.
I think it's due to the chemicals and like you said, the typical American diet

      @StrikeforceJedi Před 3 lety +1

Also remember that in equatorial regions, natives also have darker skin (like me). We are adapted to these regions, which is why skin cancer isn't prevalent. My pale gf and I went to Thailand a few years back. She got sunburned quite badly, whilst I had no problems. So if you're skin types 1-3, be careful in tropical and subtropical regions. The sun is VERY good for you, just gotta be careful.

She gardens all summer long without sunscreen. She also has no skincare routine. She's in her 60s now, has fewer wrinkles than most people her age, no liver spots or skin cancer issues. While I've been trapped working from home, I've started taking my lunch in the sun the last few months without sunscreen (I'm lazy lol) and I definitely sleep better, my mental health is MUCH better, and my migraines come less often with decreased intensity. Now, it's very hard on my eyes--without sunglasses--because the sun is so bright. (I live in Oregon; yes it's often cloudy, but when it's sunny. . .) You could wear those eye protectors they wear when in a sun tan bed, but instead use them on your closed eyes while laying outside.

There's still dermatologists on CZcams saying we need to slap on sunscreen all the time, they are putting out erroneous and outdated information.

I used to wear SPF 50 and tan through it. Lately I've been going for an hour walk sometime between 7am and 10am weekdays. I don't deal well with heat and we don't have air conditioning so I start work at 4am so I can stop before it gets too hot. I'm in bed by 6pm (up at 2am so I can work out and shower before work).

One hypothesis holds that the reason people at high latitudes lost their dark skin was to get Vitamin-D.
Conversely, African -Americas in the northeast maybe Vitamin-D deficient and that might cause a host of problems, including susceptibility to Covid19

I never agreed with the notion that the sun is bad. How can something that is part of God’s creation be bad? Perhaps in excess it’s bad, but not normal exposures.

IT created humans! Look how we turned out? Start asking some questions! Believing in Santa, the Tooth Fairy, and Easter Bunny is fine in childhood, but when you become an adult you have to begin some critical thinking, not just following blindly.

Went to the beach this weekend. Have been keto/carnivore since late Jan. Did not burn - nice glowing tan. When I felt too hot, got under the tent for a bit but was in the sun for several hours per day for three days. Prior to switching my diet I turned red fast, burned and peeled. Pretty cool how the proper human diet helps the largest organ - skin!!

When I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Disease the doctor recommended "at least 10 minutes of sun exposure a day" and I was a shocked because I had been told so very frequently to avoid the sun.
Now whenever I see a doctor giving advice to avoid the sun I get irritated because I know it isn't the full story.
