There is nothing more uplifting and spiritual than watching a herd of wild horses running free. To my people, the Indigenous people of North America they are sacred and our relatives.
My deepest respect for Native Americans, particularly given their plight historically, but if I’m not mistaken, horses are native to the Middle East. Native Americans captured wild horses that got away from the Spanish and broke them in and used them as transportation as well.There were horses in the Americas at one time, but they had long since gone extinct and only made a come back after the Spanish arrived.

I live in a small town in Az. and every so often a small herd of wild horses rolls through town...right down main street. It is a magical experiece to be able to see these wonderful, awsome wild horses. And it makes me smile to know they are still out there.
But it's sad too cause that's going to pisses off the human gods. If their land wasn't being taken away they would never want to go into any towns. I love witnessing wildlife as well but I know what happens when the wrong people hear about it. I'm in a small town in Vermont and right now have an adorable raccoon that's been hanging out. Guess what? They are trying to catch him not cause he's doing anything wrong but because parents aren't keeping their kids away from him and they are afraid the child will get hurt. But it's the kids that are looking for him and chasing him. I hate people!!!

I live in Southern Colorado on Wild Horse Mesa and I do feed and take care of the bands that are here. I have been challenged about the wisdom of this in making the horses overly dependent but my logic is that it keeps them on private property here on the Mesa rather than on ranchers property below the Mesa or on the highways on either side of the Mesa. I have found that the horses will adapt to whatever situation they are in and will range to find food and water as they need it if I do not provide it for them. I have found them to be very accepting of me as part of their social structure and as their protector and provider. I have also found that the relationships that I have with the various stallions is mutually engaged often at their initiative only for socialization and investigation. The social structure of the horses is very complex but the fundamental principles by which they operate are very simple and center on survival. Bearing this in mind provides a realistic perspective and a no-nonsense approach to interactions with the horses. They do have clear relational predilection to investigate humans in their midst. Having been accepted as their alpha male provider and protector, and having earned the respect of the stallions through displays of physical dominance, even to the point of sparring with the stallions. Once established as a member of their social network I was able to develop deep emotional bonds with some of the horses, especially the young. Being with many of the mares through gestation, the foals know my voice and touch. Their curiosity draws them to me and I allow them to sniff my head and imitate a small horse by crouching and bowing my head. We "neck" and chomp and bond physically.
The mares must give their accent however and the stallions keep a watchful eye on us.
I helped deliver a foal last year and she has become my little darling. She knocks on the door, seems me out for companionship and love through massage, scratching, and naps together with her head in my lap!!
You want respect for yourself you got to show respect for the animals. Don't treat them like garbage. I love watching animals

It breaks my heart to hear that these majestic wild horses are being removed from their grazing lands, and being slaughtered!!! They are soooo beautiful and need to be free to roam. Separating families of these horses is very cruel in my opinion. Taking colts from their mothers is unconscionable. These are intelligent, loving horses. Man always seems to deny that ALL animals are very smart. Treat them with tender love and they will return love ten fold back.

We pay for this to happen in the billions to cows, pigs, sheep, goats (all just as sentient and sensitive emotionally aware as horses) etc and their babies and families. Legalised animal cruelty we don’t bat an eyelid about.

Yes they do breed prolifically so herding health checkups and birth control can make the difference. Horses have the unquestioned family system that proves they know what’s good for them and what’s not.
We change or like everything else that’s no longer here because of us. Everything including us will be shaken from the back of this Great Planet. If you think everything isn’t supposed to work together just look at the difference in everything since you were a child. Remember what your ancestors had to say on how this place was. We are all connected by this life and the Planet is our mother truly as much as God is the Father. We don’t exist without each other as one.

SOME animals are smart, others aren't, most can be considered pretty primitive in terms of cognitive abilities. There's a huge difference between a Monkey and a Makarel - saying all animals are smart is just ignorant and plain wrong even if it's with good intentions.
And so is that ' treat wild animals with love and they suddenly surrender their natural instincs and become affectionate and loving and tame' is just dangerously wrong.
I went to visit my home country in Puerto Rico and got to witness the wild horses running wild in the mountain ranges...most beautiful thing I ever saw in my life..I'm a horse lover and these are my favorite animals by far..they should be protected and not misunderstood...they've been with us since early evolution and are as loyal or more so than dogs...through wars ,pioneers,racing,working and servicing mankind ,these beautiful creations of God demand respect and care from man....nuff said. 🐴🐴🐴🐎🐎🐎

The thought of these majestic creatures being slaughtered makes me sick. I would do anything to see this stop. I’ve heard they take them for long rides to Mexico or Canada without any food or water. Then if the long ride wasn’t bad enough I can only imagine the horrible smell and sounds and the fear they must feel when they are loaded off that truck. They even take pregnant mares, and foals to slaughter. I don’t know what kind of human could kill a foal or know that a mare is pregnant and kill her. When I look at my mustang and see the relationship we have I don’t agree that all the wild mustangs belong roaming free. I think if my horse could talk and he was given a choice I’m pretty sure he would say he wants to stay with me. He gets fed twice a day and he has about 60 acres he is able to roam on with his buddies, but every evening it’s his choice to be standing at my back gate waiting to come into the barn for dinner, and he has no problem staying in for the night, and laying down and sleeping. The other night I was at the barn late and I looked over and only a few feet away he laid down with me right there near him and literally 5 min later he was snoring. That was the first time he has laid down with me that close to him, and I had no idea horses snore. The next morning he has breakfast and when he is finished and sees me walking over to him with his fly mask he puts his head down so I can put it on him. He even stands still so I can spray him down with fly spray. Out of my three horses I am positive he understand why I put a fly mask on him and why he has to have fly spray on. Mustangs are really and truly smart horses. (My other two horses still try to walk away when I put fly spray on them and one horse is 17). Then I open the gate and he gets to go out and spend the day being a horse who doesn’t have to worry about where his next meal is going to come from. We have to fight for these horses. When I think about my life without Scout I honestly can’t imagine it. Him and I are so in tune with one another now, and he really tries to please me. Mustangs make the best trail horses and are great at competition. My friend has won so many ribbons on her mustang. I got my mustang when he was really young. (BLM said he was 9 months, but I am pretty sure he was younger probably around 6-8 months) at a mustang adoption event they were having in my town. With enough time and patience these horses can do everything a domestic horse can do and more. Anyone who says they are not good for riding or anything obviously never had one because that was an very ignorant statement….

Never cause we are the species that have to destroy everything in our path. If we can't make money off it then it shouldn't be cared about is the message I get from the people that want to get rid of the horse or whatever other animal they don't think deserves to live. Wow. This one really opened my eyes. I’ve seen horses being put down and that is so so sad but putting the horses on a truck to take away really made me think when that chick said doing that / breaking them up / the stress they go through / well it would and just that in itself really blew my mind.
They need to keep their bloody livestock at home where they belong and if they cant keep it on their property then maybe they should downsize to fit the size of land they own and not taking it from the wild animals.
Ideally, your right, makes sense doesn't it, none the less, seems the Major beef Producers have another agenda, and we know how that works out.
Sad thing is at one point none of the land was 'owned', it belonged to nature, and we just shared it.

Before I die , I want to see the stallions in the wild. I had horses when I was 13 years old. I love horses. They are intelligent and if you respect them and treat them well with affection they will make a bond with you.
I am glad wild horses return back to America, whether they return on their own through an ice sheet or whichever, or if humans returned them. It is nice and finding past first evolving horses before our current horses show they are native here in some way.

I am sad that we no longer have those beautiful, majestic, magnificent creatures in Texas anymore, Texas used to be loaded with them! I love wild horses and I am dismayed what is being perpetrated on those animals in America and other parts of the world. Here we round them up by helicopters, putting them into panic, with foals getting separated from their mothers and many horses getting injured. After that we put them into lots, cramped together for years at the time and then putting them up for sale for a few dollars at an auction where kill buyers buy most of them up and sell them to Mexico and Canada for slaughter! It's disgusting what is being done to those beautiful animals, it breaks my heart! These horses don't deserve any of it, they DO NOT belong in slaughterhouses, nor should they be rounded up by helicopters and taken out of their natural environment! Leave them alone and let them live where they ought to be, out in the wild‼️And by the way, we are doing the same thing to the wild burros, domestic horses and mules. They end up at the auction and are headed do slaughter! THIS HAS TO STOP😡‼️

These wild horses mainly disappeared because of the enclosure of the open range, meaning ranchers fencing off their land and therefore the loss of habitat for the wild horses! I wish people would educate themselves before the open their mouth about something! I was only making a statement about Texas no longer having wild horses making me sad and I didn’t say anything about politicians unlike you, but I did point out about the horrific blight of the wild horses that are left! Who says a mustang cant be happy domesticated? There are plenty of people who adopt mustangs and they end up being the most loyal horse they have ridden and form a strong bond with thier owner and they never have to worry about when thier next meal is gonna come and are safe from predators and the harsh elements. A domesticated life isn't always the worse thing to happen to a mustang, there are worst things that can happen to them out in the wild. I agree that wild horses should stay free and in their natural habitat but the ones that do get adopted by good people are living a good life free of strife and hardship and are loved and that is true freedom, freedom from the cruelty of the world

I've been to the Pryor mountain wild horse range Wich consists of 39,650 acres of some tough desert and mountain country. But only a total of 180 horse's live on the range.

Arrow heads in Saskatchewan have been found with Horse Protein on them,....these arrow and spear heads date from some 11000 to 13000 years ago. Interesting...

I had a mare in 1969 of unknown origins. She was supposed to be six, but was pregnant with a third foal. I wondered if mustangs or other wild horses from N.America were being brought to Virginia in the 1960s. She does resemble some of the mustangs I have seen on youtubes lately. I have some photos, but nothing to provide any DNA. (That third foal was by a registered QH, Alkali Junior, who at the time my father bought the mare was in Va. He was said to have been owned by Aurthur Godfrey at one time. So I guess HE came from somewhere out west, originally.) Any way to figure it out? I have a lock of the foal's hair (but not roots).

Exactly!! I eat very little meat, but haven’t eaten Beef for over 30 years. Living in Europe I’ve learned to respect animals and what comes on the table. I do eat Fowl, which also aren’t always treated correctly. And I do, although seldom, eat Pork, which also has a problem with proper handling and Slaughtering, but I do attempt to eat meat that is Butchered here in my area, without a long way to the Slaughterhouse and is Organically raised. And through the lack of controls a few Countries have faced the Horrors of Hoof and Mouth, and Schwein Pest disease. But one thing that has always seemed to baffle Me is with the amount of meat produced and eaten by Americans, and the fact that it’s relatively cheap compared to Europe, why is it that none of these diseases are ever found over there? Then I saw a documentary about how much medication the Fowl, Sheep, Pigs, and Cattle are given, and it explains why the Americans are so Fucking Stupid!! The cattle Ranches with Thousands of acres, with Thousands of cattle, giving off gases that affect the atmosphere, and taking the Land that was once Owned by the Original Americans, and Roamed by Their means of traveling and Their means of Nourishment, to be cast in the same Lot is totally American. I believe Americans are on this Earth to destroy it. That’s why Folks are traveling into Outerspace looking for another Planet to FUCKUP.

Here's an idea' why not cut swales, place check-dams, scatter Bermuda-grass seed, and otherwise use Permaculture practices to improve and increase the amount of grass on those range-lands? Instead of squabbling over who gets the grass, why not grow more grass?

That’s why when I adopt horses I take them back to my 200 acre property and set them free to graze. No more ropes, no more pens or coral. I have 12 horses and have never ridden any of them. Most have been tamed

Be prepared for hard facts that they don’t tell you and the risk for these horses is real! There’s only one answer that’s Freedom! I done seen Stallions die from heartbreak and simply not breakable! You can’t keep a wild horse unless you follow strict guidelines so watch what you wish for you may end up broken hearted like my sister.

Wild horse don't compete with deer, antelopes, mountain goats, moose, or elk these animals are all browsers. They eat bushes, trees, and brush. Where as sheep, and cattle compete with wild horses because all three-day grazes grass. So in my opinion is the Bureau Land Management should limit all domestic livestock on land which was set aside for the wild horses. Also when you separate a mare from her foal and disturb the family dynamics will cause the mare to come back in season/heat which will cause increase in the horse population. If you leave the family dynamics alone the horses won't increase that drastically.
Mustang are so beautiful and should be treasured for part of America history not destroyed because there are some people just do not like horses

There is nothing more magical than a herd of wild horses running wild and free. My heart skips a beat with the thunderous pounding of their hooves as they make their way to the destination they desire. Humans are the cruelest of all beast that roam this land, it is by our own doing that so many horses have been lost and I’m sure they won’t change anytime soon, till maybe it’s the human race that is endangered.

If the wild herds were deemed native it would open the door to management by hunting under the jurisdiction of States. The Federal government management was set to take control of the horses from the States.
All has to do with money-making. Greedy ranchers, overly greedy rancher.
I believe that all wild horses should be able to roam free and for whoever out there how would you like it if you were done the way that they were done set them free and let them live their life wild and freedom and just watching what I just watched these wild horses were slaughtered makes me sick and to me that's sad where is American coming to 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸☹️

I watched most of this video , but I could not watch the cruelty!! It is unfortunate that Pat Fazio's comment that the current Bureau of Land Management still sees the mustangs as needed to be eliminated. This is a false statement. Most of the employees care about the horses and are working hard to right a bad situation.
So horses originated from North America?
This was new to me also, I am from Germany, and in school, we did learn, horses were brought over by the Spaniens.
There is proof of early horses living in the Americas, it doesn't necessarily mean all horses evolved here. The modern mustang may, though it cannot be proven, be a combination animal of a few surviving herds in isolated pockets breeding with escaped Spanish horses. Most likely, the modern North American mustang has adapted to being very similar to the early horses that were native to the Americas, but are entirely the offspring of the horses brought over in repeated waves from Spain and other Europeans.
