- In the 70’s, Seiko made watches under the School Time line of models for children. After spending some time with this watch, I noticed it shares a lot of design features with Grand Seiko. In my opinion, this is the true “Baby Grand Seiko”. The only issue making this video was that there was little to no information about this watch, but with some help from ChatGPT, we were able to bring this video to life! Hope you all enjoy it :)

Thanks a lot! Glad you're enjoying them. Stay tuned for more!
Truly fascinating. I’ll get one for my daughter. My first watch at about age 8 was a mechanical hand wound watch at about age 8. Time only, no date in around 1980.
Amazing! I think this will be a perfect gift for your daughter. Thanks a lot for watching!
Nice video as always! I always wanted to have a watch like this when I was a kid.
Thank you for stopping by again! This is an amazing watch for kids of the time and even for today! See you next time.
Very cool to shine some light on this part of Seiko's history, not too much info about these floating around. The movement is most likely a 5002, fairly robust considering it was meant to take somewhat of a daily beating. Which makes sense, don't want to give a kid a (at the time) really advanced/expensive quartz watch. Good video as always, cheers
Thank you and great observation on the movement fitted to this watch! Interesting to see this watch in the transitional phase of the quartz crisis. Owning a little bit of history is always a cool aspect of collecting. Thanks again for stopping by!
My first watch was a Timex mechanical. Yes, it was the mid 1970s. Yes, 1970s kids were (and are) badass. My parents probably couldn’t afford a quartz watch. I still have it; it still works. Never broken, never serviced, although the acrylic crystal could use some love.
Thanks for sharing! It's such a blessing to be able to still be in possession of your very first watch! Not many people can say the same. Hope you enjoyed the video :)
Thank you algorithm 🙏
Glad the algorithm found you!
A bona-fide baby grand seiko
That's a great way to put it! Thanks for watching my video and hope you found it entertaining!
Reminds me of Shanghai watches, very similar case shape and dial. Cool watch
Never heard of the brand. I might have to check them out. Thanks for watching!
I think nowadays any $100 watch will look better than this....
I agree! Most modern watches today offer much more value and better craftsmanship than older vintage watches. However, these vintage pieces offer a charm that these modern watches cannot. Thanks for watching and see you next time!
