Congratulations Ben!
In all honesty I liked the 24 hour watch. Great conversation starter.
Her: "is your watch broken?"
Me: "perhaps. Would you like to go home with me?"
Me: Yea wanna go to Battries + Bulbs to see it get fixed
*Takes her to my house*
after: ooh i think i put it on my basement. wanna have a look i got candy as well
Tbh I think this would work. No girl would ask about your watch unless she's interested in you already.
Actually the idea of a 24 hour watch that only marks the hours is not new and I am quite sure that this type of watch has been produced even by some expensive brands that at the moment I can't recall (Meistersinger?) .
The message you send, when wearing these watches, is: I take life easy, I don't need to be in a hurry for anything anywhere anytime. And anybody.
"Perhaps..." 😂😂😂
Lancaster Italia gave the most authentic italian experience.
I wander why Some Brands seem to link Italy with high quality watch making? Perhaps I am uneducated here, but isn't it the Japanese and the Swiss with the reputation? (Not withstanding some German, US and other brands?)
@@altal2993 Probably has to do with Italy history in fashion brands. People who buy those kind of watches are interested in fashion not so much watches themselves. They don't care what's in them, just bling bling.
@@Alex888877 Then fools
Italy usually linked with fine art
@@8zzzzzd79 to be fair, I will admit, I got into watches through Vincero. I accepted all the bullshit because I knew no better. Only after, did I come to realise that I'd bought rubbish... both got dumped on Ebay in favour of a Bambino and a Seiko 5 as my 1st "proper" watches.
You'd have to widen all the door frames in the house in order to wear that Lancaster. It's just asking for a good knock.
@john jones Like a bowling ball in a glass box.
Its shite
@@oscarosullivan4513 Oh, I know. I was just making fun of its size.
Maybe I’m nuts, but the single hand 24hr watch has some serious potential (if literally everything about the execution was done differently).
"Genuine leather" is actually a leather industry term for low quality leather, bottom of the cut, heavily processed and it doesn't contain anything from the original hide's grain.
"Genuine leather" can refer to any type of leather. The subcategories of "genuine leather" are "full grain," "top grain," and "split." The reason that the term "genuine leather" is associated with low quality leather is because when companies make products from the cheap/weak lower splits, they can't call it top grain (top grain is also split leather, but it's an upper split, therefore good quality) and they definitely can't call it full grain, so they have a choice between "split leather" and "genuine leather," and these days they usually choose the latter because they think it sounds good.
"Full grain" is leather that includes the outer surface of the hide, the part that hair/fur grew from when it was on the critter. It may be a layer cut off the top or it may be the entire hide thickness, which, in the case of cowhide, is quite thick and would only be used for something like shoe soles.
"Top grain" is an upper split that doesn't include the outer surface, but it's still high enough to be in the grain area of the hide.
"Split" overlaps "top grain," but it also includes the garbage splits in the lower non-grain areas of the hide.
"Genuine" overlaps everything, but when the term is used by itself by manufacturers it nearly always refers to a crappy lower non-grain split.
There's also "bonded leather," which is even worse than the lowest genuine leather split. It is like particle board or Spam, i.e., ground-up leather scraps that are pressed/formed/glued into a sheet of leather-like substance. It's commonly used for cheap furniture and cheap Bible covers.
Yep. The right term for high quality leather is "Fake leather".
If I'm correct the Starking even features a sapphire crystal.
I own one, and I confirm.
And a hi beat movement.
Yeah, I have the white dial version that came on a leather strap. It uses the Chinese hi beat DG4813 movement, which is derived from the standard 21,600 bph DG2813. Mine’s shown fairly consistent accuracy, and gains 10-15 seconds daily.
@@mountainhobo ok, slightly higher beat then. To be honest I find it only to be a gimmick in this watch, since the second hand is prone to stuttering. You don't get a very nice constant sweep anyhow. I do like the AM 0171 with the Miyota much better. Same watch, other more reliable basic movement, lower Herz, but less stutter. Also comes in different colours. The silver-white sunburst one is quite stunning in all its simplicity. When I bought it, it was 45 Euros on Amazon. It was quite the package for the money. Import laws (EU) have changed however and prices might very well have gone up for the EU market.
did he call the one handed watch a gimmick? I'm curious what he says about the $3000 Meistersinger 😂
I was just thinking that I guess Ben's not a fan of the Meistersingers or Slow Jo's of the world :D
I don't think he realizes that one handed watches were the norm at the dawn of watchmaking. Maybe the channel should review that wonderful Meistersinger. 😉 #HINT
I would personally love to have a blue dial Circularis. Spectacular watch. 😜
Probably 'an EXPENSIVE gimmick'. :P
@@shiznuts painfully expensive. 😭
Yeah or a 'weighing scale for the wrist'. :P That sorta vibe they give me. But I do actually agree, sorta wonderful and spectacular. But I wouldn't daily it, sometimes I really need/want to know the time quite accurately and a quick glance.
On the skmei, hold your finger on the display untill it starts flashing. Then, short presses are for changing the time, a long press scrolls through time setting, date setting and seconds, i had one of these kinds of things when i was 12.
I like it!
@@tornagawn i still have mine, i thought that it was a cool thing!( it was cheap, but i didn't care back then😁)
You know, he could have just read the manual instead of slagging the watch design. But that would be too hard wouldn't it?
@@DrTomtasticor that wouldn't be as dramatic, and won't bring us critics down to comment here 😉
These 'tubers are smarter than we think
I had a Starking and although I sold it on I was actually impressed by the movement. Accurate, hi-beat and reliable. I would buy again to be fair.
Yeah and it has sapphire glass.
@@johnstratos9336 he didn’t do the research. Criticizing for the sake of it
that Starking was my first ever auto. I still have it and it still works almost 2 years later. I honestly think its a pretty solid watch for the money.
I think the inside is a Chinese cloned movement based on the Miyota 8125 with hacking and hi beat added. There's a very wide range of quality but in the best case, it might be good for a decade before you need to service it.
They have some pretty good watches in fact.
Looks to me like a close knockoff of a Jowissa. Wack that anyone would need to buy a fake watch when the real one is only like $200.
Dude that starking has a sapphire crystal. That thing is real bang for buck. I dont think you did it justice for what you probably paid
He definitely didnt. Its a great watch for the price.
He wasn't all that negative.....
I have a feeling the movement on it is a miyota auto - but I can't remember if I'm honest. Definitely a good value for money item
I've bought a couple of Starkings, one broke down pretty quick and the date wouldn't change properly, a couple of others worked ok but the dials looked a little flat - I think there's a lot of variability but sapphire is definitely nice
While the starking has sapphire and is decently built, their in-house Hi-beat movement is really quite sloppy. Mine works and keeps decent time, but as was stated in the video, the rotor is very loud and using the crown to set time or date feels a lot like using an unsynchronized manual gearbox that has been driven to hell and back. I do not think the watch will function for very long.
Also, the watch repair channel did pull the movement apart and it was clearly poorly built in unclean environment, and I have heard many cases of them arriving DOA.
Would not recommend getting one, even though it is a high-beat automatic with sapphire at a very low price.
I have had that same Starking model for a year now. I bought it for €40 on AliExpress, delivery from Spain in 8 days. The movement is in-house, but it is a copy of the Miyota 8215. Precision is decent - around the 15-20s per day without further regulation. Sapphire crystal, personally tested. All in all, completely worth its price.
About the Lancaster Italia and the Milan Something - you fools! Don't you know that the only reliable Italian brand is Spaghetti Scametti?
Haha yes - people still comment on how good my Spaghetti Scametti looks
@@chrispenn715 I bet they even stop you in the street.
Hmmm I hoped you were going for the REALLY strange ones. Compared to the dark side of Amazon's watch selection, these look great! 😆
I quite like my starking automatic, specially the dial. I have the white dial and it's almost a printer paper white.
i think mark lovic of watch repair channel did a full disassembly and the movement is where they cut costs - like fingerprints and inaccurate out of the box.. look very nice tho

MQ24 variations are very popular in Korea. Many high school students wear those when they take SAT because all other complication watches are strictly banned during the exam hours. Some of the watches are still working even after 10years without battery change, many students, now adults say. They are great watches, not garbages, Ben. Give a chance to Casios! We know you are a big fan of the brand!!
Ben, that Casio had an Amazon specific label on it where it’s either used or somewhat damaged but deemed sellable. Either you mistakenly purchased it or someone messed up lol. Either way, once you see a label like that again, expect that it was previously opened used and returned or somehow damaged but functional. They’re sold at a reduced cost also! Cheers.
Hi Ben,
Thanks a lot for your content! Found you 2 days ago and I am binge watching your videos!
I am "blessed" with a super thin wrist of 15,5 cm (6,1 in) ... finding an affordable watch that suits my wrist is hell.
If you could do a video that would cover that issue I would love you till the end of the days....
Thanky you & keep up that great work!
Firstly, thank you for supporting Jody! You're good people.
Secondly, you might like the one-handed watches after you retire and knowing that "oh it's between 4 and 5 pm" is good enough. :)
But I think it's a "Invicta movement" that stole the show. It's funny (I think) that someone thought that was something to advertise.
Single handlers have kinda become a thing. like Meistersinger or damasko but they’re mechanical. I think Eta makes a single handed movement. Anyhow I think that starking has a terrible chinese movement so it’s really just a nice case.Great Vid, aliexpress shxtters next ?!?
Well, one of the most famous single handlers are made by Luch. A Russian historic company
@@fedomandez I was like oh nooo ben single handers are a thing … but quartz with a tick but no second hand is quite silly.
I have a starking watch with skeletonized design. The movement works fine, looks great until you grab a magnifying glass and it also impresses others. Best 40€ I've ever spent tbh.
Ben is wrestling with a Skmei watch … hilarious 😂 great video ! You certainly have your way of reviewing those masterpieces time and again.
Instead of a Lancaster bomber you throw these heavy watches out of a Boeing 737 and hit people with it
Man, I was searching for a new video of yours 10 minutes ago. And now I see you have posted a new video. You just made my day brother.
We want to see Spaghetti Scametti, but like make the joke that it's an actually good microbrand.
Tbh, I tricked myself into buying a Swatch, because it was from a NASA/Space collection and I have the Casio DW5600NASA20...
... mate, it's bloody aweful the thing. Loud Quartz, doesn't line up, smudges and scratches easily, feels plastic fantastic. And it was like 90 bucks.
I doubt it would be much of a challenge to offer a memewatch that's better value than that.
@@shiznuts
You are better off with the DW5600.
Had a couple of Swatches when I was a kid.

I'm about to watch - and no doubt thoroughly enjoy - this video, but i just wanted to say first off, thank you for your support of Jody over at Just One More Watch. Was terrible what CZcams did to him, how they went about it, but i'm sure that he and the rest of the watch enthusiast community appreciated your support. You're awesome Ben, love your work!
Seems like you're not aware that the Casio MQ-24 is the most popular watch in Japan.
what is that tool that open the back of the casio watch? There are a few of my watches I cant open with tools
To set the time on that Skmei, you just need to press and hold the touch area.
And yes, Invictas are Miyota-based, as well as most cheapest analogue Casios.
what strap is that on your casio? I have the same model and have been looking for a replacement bracelet.
I Actually bought a Skmei G-Shock-ish style watch some time ago. It really worked great for what i needed it for (the army). Yeah its cheap, but it has all you need in a digital watch. After all this time it still works.

The watch with 1 hand is actually neat once you figure it out. I have one made by "Luch". Its constantly on my wrist.

I’ve had the Starking am0184 for over a year and it still makes me happy. It is a high beat movement and if you take out the bracelet it is a strap monster.
It’s not high beat. That term is for 5hz movements.

I've got a one handed 24 hour dial, Slo Watch. Hours graduated in 15 minute divisions. Sits with midnight at the 12 position, noon at the 6 o'clock position. I like it.
That one handed watch is actually a brand icon from Luch. Belarusian watch company. One handed watches are for miners to see time as a AM, PM
A LCD watch would serve the same function without the faffing about. A LED watch would be even better. 😉
The Casio MQ-24 is great: very small (almost 34mm in diameter), extremely light, inexpensive and very precise.
Ben! There's a Fairwhale watch I've gotten in the other day from uncle Ali. I was suprised with the quality and it was like 70 EUR or something.
But it has like a supernice Omega-esque design, multicolored lume, incl. the bezel. Screwdown and signed crown.
The bracelet is remarkably nice and got screw links and milled clasp.
I don't think anyone else ever ordered let alone reviewed one, I guess something of a undiscovered gem. Maybe a cool find for the channel?
7:20 Lool that's like wearing a piece of a metal tube on a bracelet! 😂
The movement inside the starking is something quite curious. It is basically slight modified DG2813, which is a derivative of the Myota 8205 movement design. However it is 28800 BPH and outer dimensions are the same as the ETA 2824. Even the hand pinions have the same dimensions as an ETA classic.
Fun video, thanks. A one hander can be fun but definitely NOT this one for sure. I've never owned a Starking, but I have heard people do enjoy them along with Cadisen. Was hoping to see the Spaghetti Scametti.
The one-hander looks intriguing. Do they do one with a GMT complication??
I have that Starking and rate it higher than a similarly priced Seiko 5. It’s certainly a budget watch but you get a lot of watch for not much money.
Ben seems to think that anything made in China is garbage.
@@Trex100 idk, I'm quite confused why he immediately disregarded it as rubbish since I rate it similarly (or higher than) than the Pagani he liked in his review.

Hey, I got myself a Luch One Hander and those are pretty cool
that single dial watch (24hr dial) is what I'm looking out for now, some timepiece that let me live time a little stress-free, I saw some more usable version online, of another maker, french... I'm also interested in the compass implication of such a dial.
Your the Hubnut (I really like his channel) of watch reviewers, even the Casio look weird, can't wait for another episode. Thanks 👍
I bought that Starking along with another $20 Chinese automatic watch, an Ochstin. Neither ran for more than a few months before stopping and never running again and neither were accurate. The Ochstin was off by 10 minutes every hour. On the other hand, I bought 3 of those Skmei watches to give to my grandkids a couple of years ago and they're all still running. Funny part of of it, is one of them sat at the bottom of their backyard pool for an entire weekend.
I bought a couple of Ochstins. Only wear them on very rare occasions but I think they look ok.
That quick Seiko burn. 😆
Ben, what's the strap you have on your A700 in this video?
I bought myself a Peugeot watch and am mostly happy with it for the price. It is a decent affordable I think, but somehow one of my arm hairs actually got under the crystal and I have no idea how... funny that.
A great list of watches! 😜 We actually got , would be believe, a Peugeot Salt and Pepper set in İstanbul a few weeks ago!! Same pp Peugeot on the box!!
I've given up keeping my Starking running. The power reserve is less than a day.
Please let me know where you bought the wooden-handled case back opening tool.

Great video Ben !
Bloody hell mate you got me cracking ever since that Stoke Italia Joke, subscribed! Wonder if you ever reviewed those bizarre Russian aviator one's.
That Starking has a special place in my heart
Hello! What watch is on your wrist? Casio F91?
I think the weirdest Chinese watch I own is a Temeise... it is an actual full chronograph but instead of hands there are spinning coloured turbines, however a design oversight meant they forgot to put a reference on dial and turbines so good luck trying to actually understand the chrono turbines or the 24hr wheel. What else is weird it is bigger than an Invicta Bolt II Zeus Magnum, seriously super heavy and I got mine in the gold chrome and it looks like I got some rappers arm when I wear it. Its bigger than my Invicta Russian Diver or my TW Steels Chrono...
I have an anticlockwise watch I bought on amazon about two years ago. It's the only anticlockwise watch I could find, and it was about 20 USD. It's called the 'Time Fly Back'. It's alright looking, like a basic dress watch. The band is garbage but I've yet to put a decent band on it. She's a funky little watch and the anticlockwise feature turns heads when people look at it.
There were some stores here in Norway that sold anticlockwise wall clocks around 25 years ago. I think the point was that you could hang them in the bathroom and watch them through the mirror. Almost bought one because they were so weird, but they disappeared quickly, so probably not too popular.
Sorry, but for someone doting on Casio you don’t get to complain about another company putting instructional text all over the screen 😉
As someone who owns a Casio watch, I was thinking the same thing. If they replaced "Touch Here" with "Touch Watch", it would be something straight out of Casio's playbook.
That little Casio is the same line as the watch the Pope wears. I got one at Target on sale for $8 a few years back. I love them.
I love your videos. Peugeot actually made very nice watches for an affordable price. I had one when I was in High School. It had the phases of the moon, and a couple other dials like a Chronograph.
6:01 Or Pennsylvania. Though since Hamilton is now based out of Switzerland, I’m not sure how much use the Amish have for wristwatches.
Hi Ben!
I love that Lancaster watch. I was looking for it on amazon but could not buy. Do you still have it? Do you think I vould buy it from you?
That Starking watch is fantastic, sapphire crystal and solid built quality. Rotor is loud as it’s a miyota movement.
Ben, my eyes couldn’t help but noticing your casio A700wm-7a with new strap on ur wrist. Mind to share where u get the new strap?
Lancaster was pretty famous in Italy in the 90s with other brand like Sector, Lorenz and Lowell
You know, I am wearing this same model of Starking while you were reviewing it. I am quite happy with it.
same, mine's sapphire with the weird chinese movement. Unfortunately after a couple months it stopped and would only start if you bumped the case (sometimes with some force) and would stop again shortly. For some reason though it now hasn't stopped in months.
I was rocking the Skmei LED in '09, love the brand, actually.
What’s that watch you have on in the video? (silver one)
1st: read the instructions... I expected it to need at least a half second touch.
Last: I'm just STUNNED that they would put an actual miyota guts IN a casio....
The Lancaster box is a nod to the ejection system of a Eurofighter Typhoon.
Isn't that a Timex Waterbury counter balance on the Mast watch?
Lancaster. For when you need a watch the approximate size and weight of a Grand Slam earthquake bomb
There's also a Lancaster in the U.S. the area where Hamilton Watch Co. was founded.
Fun review, I thought that the Lancaster was very cool!
Starking has gotten better, even using Seiko NH35/36 and Miyota 8217 automatic movements in some models along with their own automatic movements.
Lancaster misunderstood that 20mm is supposed to be the lug width, not the case height.
I have the Starking and I wish I had bought the slightly more expensive version with the Miyota movement. The chinese movement broke after like half a year, I can´t wind it properly anymore and the rotor doesn´t charge it much.
That Casio, at the end, is a proper watch. Yes, it's absolutely basic, but it will be precise and it will last.

I’m actually really surprised that Casio doesn’t manufacture their own quartz movements.
They do, but they also use miyota movements for the simpler designs.
Hey Ben, I'm disappointed that you didn't include a rainbow hublot! 😂😂😂😂😂
Great video ! I have seen some God awful one's on Amazon ,seen one that had an intergrated lighter .
Lancaster looks pretty decent. As to one-hand watch - it's a 12 hours watch, one-hand watches only have one (hour) hand but more indexes (every 5 minutes) so that it's easier to tell the time. Since hour hand moves so slowly, it takes 12 hours to complete the circle. And there are more such watches - you can check Luch watches or more prestigious MeisterSinger watches (e.g. Pangaea Date PMD 901 or Lunascope Automatic Moonphase Date LS908G_SG03)
