In this MVMT vs AliExpress comparison video, I put the $300 MVMT Arc automatic watch up against a $80 Cadisen to see which is the better value proposition. Is this MVMT Alibaba special worth buying?

“Cutting out the middleman yourself.“ That’s quite the burn against MVMT’s marketing
Yeah that was hilarious haha
So for 200 pound you buy a brushed case and a logo. And its a logo that doesn't even garner respect or prestige. Absolutely hilarious
you forgot to mention the box ☝️😐
And the nicer looking movment
DasZiwi 💄🐷
And the hacking feature
You also buy a domed crystal that will become a nice scratch magnet.
The Saphire crystal alone swings it for the Cadisen.
That depends what you want, a sapphire at this price will usually be flat. The mvmt has a domed mineral. A sapphire on spec doesn’t necessarily mean better.
@@JMNTN no, sapphire is always >>>> than mineral glass..better reflection, better scratches resistance, and thats all what you need
@@JMNTN it does, idc how much domed mineral glass is, more its gonna get scratched way easier. sapphire is pretty hard to scratch while mineral glass literally scratches from anything
@@nedlan1857 plus looks gayer on the wrist
I can't believe I used to actually want a MVMT watch... thank goodness now I am more informed
Me either, everyone has mistakes
@P M B lmao no luckily. I got a starking with a seiko nh36a. Not exactly a "premium" automatic but the value is really high on this one. Especially since I can't get a seiko 5 under £100 here in the uk lol
@P M B Yeah I really did want to get a seiko 5 but my absolute maximum budget was £50 and even that was with begging my parents lmao
Unfortunately they didnt let me spend any of my own money, if they did I would have gotten an snk or skx. I think I hit the goldmine with my starking tho, its only losing about 0.7 seconds a day which is pretty epic
@P M B the sarbs are cool. Most seikos are actually lol
@P M B lmao
I have self restraint and a severe lack of money so i think ill be fine
"as useful as an inflatable dartboard" I haven't heard that one before. I like it!
Cadisen is a pretty high quality watch brand. Good materials, nice designs. Unlike MVMT, which frankly sets its prices at insulting levels.
Another great, informative and thorough review. Cheers for the content.
Although they do copy style elements from Rolex and AP for their newer models, I have to agree. I got the original C-1032G with the Seiko NH36A automatic movement and sapphire crystal and it's been running for more than ½ a year now, flawlessly.
Got it for a really good price too (45€+ no import tax off AliExpress on 11.11)
@@-eMpTy- I agree.
My opinion either choose Old & trusted brnds or buy a good Chinese copy warch from aliexpress or other sites.
Just confirming what we all knew, MVMT are throwing their logo on cheap Chinese watches and increasing the price! Love the Cadisen, bargain for the price and would much prefer to have that on wrist than MVMT.
Cadisen and Starking over mvmt all life long
At least they are not trying to be something that they are clearly not.
Ive literally seen mvmt watches on Ali Express with a different logo lol. They're clearly just rebranding cheap Chinese
@@zachsmith1731 I think that holds true for DW. With MVMT I think their designs are more unique, however anything that's even half way successful gets copied in China. You wouldn't say that Rolex are clearly just rebranded Chinese watches. The big question is who came first, and Ben seems to think the Cadisen is a copy of a MVMT watch (though that design is rather generic, so who knows). In any case, they aren't identical. Please watch the video before commenting.
@@kadajawi6567 lol what? Uh I have? I'm not the only one saying this exact same thing on this video. People (including myself) have called them out on this. Before MVMT became a name I saw it's shit on Ali express. Clearly their supplier is chinese.
As someone who is in the watch repair business, I called MVMT out in the beginning. 99% marketing company/1% watch company. But, today it seems like the market is being flooded with these brands popping up everywhere! Make it stop.
Unfortunately the success of MVMT only means this garbage persists. Even if you only had one tenth of MVMTs success, you become a millionaire.
What's your opinion on the £69 ALIEXPRESS Watch? Would it last for long and is it repairable?
@@G1CAAAAEO Thats a common Miyota movement and supposed to be reliable. It would be easy to even replace the whole movement if anything went wrong in the future
Avoid china
Many people would buy a fake luxury watch because 'tHey ArE sO SiMilAr ThEy ArE tHe SaMe!'.
I think buying a trashy Chinese rebranded watch would be an improvement for them.
I like how there's a display back for showing off that generic $10 miyota movement
A friend of mine was blown away in seeing the movement in one of my cheaper watches,he'd never seen it before & straight away assumed it was of a higher value than it was, a little knowledge goes a long way!😂
I like exhibition casebacks, even on cheap movements
Still cool
Needn’t be a snob about it.
@@TheAechBomb 'Tis nice to be able to see the inner workings, be they cheap or expensive.
It will always be funny to me that you can spend $12 on a casio and have far more street cred than a MVMT will ever have.

Cadisen: _"I don't even know who you are..."_
Imagine if Cadisen lumed the hands rather than the hour indicators.
That lumed dial but no lumed hand got me rolling lol
And of course, I'm in for Casiden for bang for buck. As for brand recognition, I'll go for Cadisen.
MVMT = Garbage (naturally)
Cadisen = Cool
Almost die laughing when I read what the discount code was for MVMT watch!! bravo!!!
Thank you for taking down these pop up low quality watch companies and supporting higher quality sometimes less known brands You saved me a lot of money by making me get a pagani design chronograph instead of a vincero
lol the hands not having lume while the dial does is freaking hilarious. they're a little confused but they've got the spirit!
Caddisen wins:
Sapphire
Better legibility
Less expensive
The MVMT is too expensive for the low quality.
Only one disadvantage with the Cadisen. No hacking.

Now that almost all of this stuff is made in China, most of it in the south of the Guangdong province by Hong Kong, you might as well just buy directly from China. The exception being watches actually made in Japan, Switzerland, Germany, etc. I think it's wise of you to buy direct from the manufacturer. Sapphire glass makes for a daily driver that will take a lot of casual scuffing as you wear it. I vote for the Cadisen.
Thank you for exposing the terrible quality of the band. I can't stand expensive watches with rubbish bands, especially when a company like Timex can get it right !
These two college kids bamboozled everyone who bought their watches.
Lol true good for them. We all get bamboozled
Great review, as usual. The Cadisen gets my vote, especially the black hands.
I have a cadisen automatic mechanical on the way and am looking forward to receiving it. I have a number of Chinese watches that I bought off of AliExpress and I am happy with all of them.
I own a cadisen, using everyday for a year.
This thing is fucking great. Paid 30$ for a c1032, it has nh36a movement, Saphire crystal, solid and well built casing, came in a nice bracelet... It was a steal
What else to look while buying a watch?
@@jimmylives Some of the things I look for in watches are craftsmanship and quality, which can be shown in a lot of the 'finer' details of the watch (dials, hands, crowns, etc.)...watches that have rudimentary, basic shapes/designs are usually lower-quality; conversely, watches that have much finer details and engravings/embosses (rather than printed names) are usually seen as higher up. But there's a lot of other factors like what OP mentioned, and more
Hi,Ben. I'd go for the cadisen all day long. Same movement so really is a no brainer . Keep well my friend 😉😺
Buying the Cadisen leaves enough change to buy an Nvidia Shield Pro on which to stream excellent content such

Great video, Ben!
Just FYI the scalloped texture on the movement in the MVMT is called "Geneva Stripes".
Mineral at that price? Mvmt have some balls! Great review Ben 👍
The Cadison packaging is almost identical to usual MVMT packaging
I've bought a couple of cadisens from Ali express there always excellent value and quality for the price
Thank u 4 the review
👍🏻 great video mate 😁
Thanks 👍
What really blows my head off is how MVMT markers itself as selling you a watch at very fair price, cutting out the middleman. WTF.
Cadisen are a great watch brand, going to be reviewing one on my channel soon! Excellent value for money
I would love to see brands like Rotary or Sekonda reviewed. I always see them in a jelwellery shop window but rarely see them on CZcams wristwatch channels.
Another great review, may I ask what gloves you use?
Ben, you have a really good attitude and your videos are informative and fun to watch, so it pains me to see that you have so few subscribers. I would recommend you do a collaboration with some more prominent watch review channels like for instance Teddy Baldassarre, i think that would boost your views tremendously, because you certainly deserve it. Keep on the good work!

Any plans on reviewing the Cadisen Diamond with the 9015?
I recommend reviewing steeldive 1954. Awesome watch can't find many flaws except the cheap bracelet, but can't complain for the price.
I love the "cut out the middleman" jab...
Came for the thumbnails, stayed for the down-to-earth watch content.
Hey. Oddly enough the MVMT website lists the Arc Automatic at 41mm instead of 40mm, but it does look smaller than the 41mm Cadisen... Anyway, great video. Thanks Ben!
I like the contrast between the chrome case and the white dial.
when your friend copies your assignment. Or maybe in this case, you make assignments for your friends.
I've been eying up that cadisen a little while
Doesn't seem to be much put there regarding that particular model, good video mate, a brand that would be good for you to take a look at is festina. I've seen few very reasonably priced ones as of late
Lmaoooo the Paul Pluta scene at the end was hilarious 😆🤣
love that Seiko you are wearing. I'm wearing it now quite by coincidence. Think it a was $89 US.
Funny that this (and many other CZcams video's) start with a commercial from Vincero watches. And yes, they are using sentences like "Cutting out the middleman." Maybe interesting to check them out by one of your future video's.
I do like the simple and clean dial a lot.
If the Cadisen was at 36/38, with 50-100wr, that would be an amazing modern interpretation of a vintage inspired everyday watch
Loved your video! I saw you did an Invicta Pro Diver review and wanted to highly recommend the Pagani Design "Diver" watch from AliExpress for maybe a future video. It's another submariner homage but I feel like Pagani Design did a much better job than Invicta. I am in LOVE with mine. Solid build quality, and amazing craftsmanship. I also love that they use a similar clasp to the true Submariner as opposed to the one they use on Invicta Pro Divers.
Hope to maybe see a review on your channel one day for the Pagani Design one!
I've picked up a couple of Cadisen watches and the quality is really decent considering the price. It's a shame more people aren't willing to a little research before parting with their hard earned.
All that marketing isn't going to pay for itself. 🤷♂️
The dial, date window and handset are also remarkably similar to the Skagen Ancher you reviewed previously.
Which watch do you wear on the video Ben?
Hey man! any videos or idea on how some AliExpress automatic watches of "high quality" ( like $150-$200) are?? it would be interesting to see a review on them and have them opened and looked at inside.
The MVMT surprisingly did a good job on decorating the movement
I'm wearing a Cadisen watch as I watch this video. Mine is a C5051M, which has an all Tungsten Carbide case and strap, with a sapphire crystal. This model has a quartz movement, so it's only 8mm thick. Between the tungsten and sapphire construction, this watch is super scratch resistant, an was an incredible bargain at only $30, from the Cadisen store on AliExpress.
You really can't beat some of these Chinese, "mushroom brands" for value. Cadisen sells a number of interesting models, including one with a Miyota 9015 movement, for around $100, during one of the major sales on AliExpress.
Talk about tacking, I ordered an item in the US, I'm in Switzerland. The package tracked from California, to New York before going back to California, Jamaica, Sydney Australia and stalled there for 2 months with the tracking. To the point where the insurance payed and an other one was sent that I received a month later. And, 2 months after that, so 5 1/2 months after the initial invoice, the first one arrives but still to this day tracks in Sydney.
Pleas do video on Vostok Classica. They seem to actually have hear blued screws. I would love to know is that true. They could be maybe bambino killers and good alternative to marlin and fassion watches
Hi Ben, I was wondering what were your thoughts about Dan Henry watches?
Their awesome! I love mine..
The quality of the leather straps on AliExpress watches is surprisingly good sometimes. Like the Pagani Design "Cocktail time" I recently got for 30€. Only "genuine leather" but smelled like a good new leather shoe (not like plastic) and is comfortable.
Heck, I don't know what brands like Mvmt put on their watches as even some "pleather" straps on ultra cheap Chinese watches don't fall apart like that.
Same, I have the same watch, and I actually really like the brown unstitched strap.
I will say that while the mvmt version probably hit the international market first, the cadisen was probably around for longer, and was the base model used for mvmt to "design" their watch off of, which most likely uses the same case (of course with different finishing, which would esplain the slightly smaller dimensions, if it was further machined and made to be a matte finish) and the crystal being different, etc is all "standard" options for when a company approaches a chinese manufacturer to produce their products. They submit a design and the chinese company goes through their already established designs for a similar "skeleton" ot start on, OR, the company picks a preexisting design, then submits the changes they want, and the factory modifies their tooling to make the new product, and a minimum order is decided upon, payment is made, and they go to work. The Cadisen is the "base" watch that the factory used to make the mvmt watch from. This happens all the time with COUNTLESS products from guitars and drums to disposable razors. I know this because I have ran a business at one point where chinese manufacturing was a possibility, and that is exactly how they appraoched my needs. I said "I need this product made to these specs" and they said "oh great, we have 5 products that meet those basic specs, pick the one you like the best and tell us what changes you want made. We can change XX, YY, and ZZ, with no additional cost and can put whatever logo you want on the item. For an additional tooling fee we can change XXX, YYY, or ZZZ. Let us know what changes you would like made and we will quote you a lead time" That's why these watches are so similar, and its not because cadisen copied mvmt. Its because mvmt bought the manufacturing modifications to turn the cadisen that already existed into the mvmt. And this Cadisen may not have even had a name at the time mvmt bought the modifications and commisioned the factory to make the arc, AND, it could have also been released under countless different names prior to mvmt under different asian brands in the asian market. Who knows. But I do absolutely know that this is how chinese manufacturing works when it comes to making other company products. They will literally pull something directly out of their factories that they've already made with established tooling that meets the basic initial specs of the company's request, offer it, and make the appropriate changes in order to make it brand specific for the company ordering it. IN this way, most of the "work" is already done. In the subject of watches, for example, the basic case design is already done, the basic movement choice(s) have already been made and the case will readily accept them, the hands, dial ornaments, etc have already been nanufactured, etc etc, all that's left is MINOR things like the finish of the case and the final dimensions, the type of crystal, and what logo/name brand gets stamped on the thing. They can even retrofit a lot of watches that have already been manufactured, by shelling the movement out of them, retooling/refinishing the case to the new spec, and then screen printing the brand on the face and/or changing out the movements if necessary, as the case is already designed to accept a few different versions. So these mvmnts may not have even been "made to order" they may have been reworks of pallets and pallets of watches that had already been manufactured, and what we are seeing is the chinese factory selling the unaltered "overstock" with a different name screen printed on them to clear their warehouse space. Its hard to tell, but this stuff happens all day every day when it comes to commisioning china to make products. So whenever you see a REALLY similar item on something lke alibaba, its usually the "parent" item of the name brand that it so closely resembles. Just wanted to put this out there, because not many people know the inner workings of this kind of thing.
Good video! Ben is your other channel finished?
50/50 Adam, I'm a bit in limbo with it given I'm so busy with this newer channel. Might return to it at some point, but tbh I'm enjoying the content on this watch channel much more currently
Thanks for replying 👍 I Love watches so I'm enjoying the content and just this weekend I've ordered 2 watches you reviewed 😁
Once again a great and informative video, you really should check for Lobinni watch on Aliexpress, you would be impressed by the quality and specs (to me they are one of the only brand/factory which do a true QC before shipping you the product)
They both look great. But I would take the Cadisen because it's got the better glass. I'd even spend the 45-60 on an 821A movement to fire into it to make it perfect, and still get a ~150 dollar discount.
And at this point, I would even pay EXTRA money to avoid the MVMT logo.
As an aside to this video, I think a lot of people, including watch collectors are really sleeping on soviet made mechanical watches. There’s tons of well made ones that look great and can be had for pretty cheap on ebay. I picked up a Raketa Big Zero not too long ago and I love it as a purely fashion watch.
As long as people wear watches I don’t care much which one, thankfully we all have different tastes otherwise the world would be a boring place. Great video to educate people on watches and what they should look for when it comes to quality
Cadisen > Cool
MVMT > Uncool
Funny that I got Vincero advert on this video!
Anyone know how to change the strap for the cadisen? I don't see any quick release pins or holes to push pins out at all
I can't believe I'm saying this about a MVMT watch, but I think it goes on the low end of cool. I think it's a big step up for them. I like the case a lot. It's attractive. I like the way the strap looks, although it may go quickly. I don't like the mineral crystal, and I don't like the price. I wouldn't personally buy one, but it's a big improvement for them.
I think the Cadisen goes on the high end of cool. It looks much the same, although I don't like the shiny finish as much, but it more than makes up for it with an excellent price and sapphire crystal. (My rule these days is, if a watch costs more than $50, it *must* have sapphire crystal and *must* be automatic. The Cadisen has both.)
That Cadison is the bomb! (And nicer than the MVMT). If the second hand were a touch longer it would be spot on.
I always felt those MVMT guys on their commercials seemed like frat boy Bros who came up with a marketing idea. No buy from me. Thanks for confirming.
Can you swap the movements between the cases?
To add to this comparison, you should definitely look at Xiaomi Youpin automatic watch with the same miyota 821A movement, but sapphire at front and a slightly different face. It's also less than 100$!
Nice video! 👍
10:19 what do you think about the revolver? that is imo the most original design
Jody Musgrove over on Just One More Watch has reviewed quite a few Casdisens, and overall tends to like them.
Rather have the Cadisen! The value proposition, as well as the resale value, is higher for the Cadisen! Thanks for this review!
Whilst I love the diameter of the Arc, but in my opinion the Cadisen one is the rational watch to buy. Why paid £200 more to downgrade to mineral crystal and only paid for the brand only?
The Arc isn't a bad watch also, but the price and the spec are really insulting.
Cadisen is ice cold
MVMT, well, uncool.
I like the style of the Arc but I'm not paying $300+ USD for a MIYOTA 8,000! If it was 9015 or an NH35 I might go for it.
No hacking = NO BUY
@@Phafanapolis the Miyota inside the Arc is already a hacking movement....
Only Cadisen's Miyota movement that doesn't hack.
@@kleanovodust-bin69 Citizen/Miyota has been quietly updating the 8 series with hacking for the last year or so. Some watches/movements have it and some don't. You can't tell because the movement model numbers are the same.
The Cadisen has now doubled in value due to demand (I guess?), which STILL makes it half the cost of the MVMT.
Which is hilarious.
The movement logo on the crown looks like HSBC...
Amazing
I would have just went with the Cadisen C8173G. The design is quite similar if slightly more generic, the price is cheaper, it comes with an seiko nh35 instead of a miyota 8215 and its thinner at 12mm thick. The downside being that the case is bigger (42mm).
What’s the watch on the wrist?
Somehow the Cadisen has better attention to detail.
> The little chrome rings around the lume pips.
> The winding stem
> The finish of the case. (The MVMT is just bead-blasted. They just do that to hide sins.)
> The finish of the hands
> The little detail around the date window.
Honestly I already have two Bambino's so the MVMT would just feel like a copy. The Cadisen looks more appealing.
I recently discovered chinese micro brand watches and I have to say for the price they are amazing. I just to want MVMT watch but many people said they are horrible which ultimately led me to discovered brands like steeldive, starking, alpha etc.
Whar's watch are you wearing?looks cool
I know the purpose of the video is to compare two similar looking watches, but for around 100£ you could get a cadisen with a miyota 9 series movement on aliexpress. Which is quite a diference from a 8 series. Way thinner with a high beat and a smaller case. Also there is now quite a lot of aliexpress brands with that case shape and movement. I've got one from a brand called carnival with a gold case and a very nice blue dial. I actualy got quite curious when I saw the mvmt watch a while ago and wondered what the differences between the two might be. I finally got my answer.
Great review mate. Really enjoying the channel! Keep it up!
The newer casidens are using 9015s. Top end miyota apart from the unidirectional rotor a lot of watch pros say it's on par or better than a ETA 2428-2. $100 for the movement itself... I paid $136 for one with sapphire.
