@@NGEvangeliman Not all watches are overpriced. Look at Seiko, Tissot, Timex, etc.

It’s insane that they market their watches as “luxury”
One definition of luxury is, "A thing which is expensive and not necessary." It satisfies that description.
It's also shit. But that particular definition doesn't exclude shitness. To clarify. Jacob & Co, also expensive and also bloody hideous.
It's *disgusting* that they market their watches as "luxury"
@Lassi Kinnunen There is a difference. Rolex can give you the feeling you've 'made it'. Mvmt can give you the feeling you've definitely helped someone else 'make it' And then some.
@Lassi Kinnunen except that luxury also means it doesn't lose value when you try to re-sale it. 🤓
@@okihaveaname so by your definition something like the Gold Apple Watch they did a while back would not be a luxury item because it has heavily depreciated in value?

@CRF.Channel97 Why would you watch that idiot?
There is some VERY convincing evidence out there that these watches are actually just cheap Chinese watches that are rebranded and sold for 5x the price.
Hello Captain Obvious.
They are indeed cheap Chinese watches. When I first learned about dropshipping and private labeling, I also saw suspicion that MVMT was doing exactly that. I hopped on AliExpress and within 5 minutes, I found the exact same watch. You can even compare the listing pictures and see they're EXACTLY the same; only difference is a MVMT label is slapped on it.
More like 20x the price

Spot on with Raycon, you can buy a quality equivalent for $20 and if you import form China even less.

Didn’t watch the whole vid, but my experience with them back in 2016 goes like this: Bought the watch and it arrived a week later than expected. After opening it up I went to change the time by pulling the side crown out. The crown pulled out “too much” and wasn’t able to be put back in. The watch itself broke right there. Sent it in and never got a refund. Since then I’ve found better ways to blow $118.

While I agree completely with your assessment about MVMT, also remember that their marketing engine convinced Movado (why, I do not know), to write them a purchase check for $100M. Pretty amazing. Have got to give the guys props for that feat.
This makes perfect sense. It feels like Movements as a brand is targeted at the "influencer" market. They like the "retro" fad, and the watch being as big as it is, its a nice "flex". I dont think a majority of that market will take the time to appreciate the watch most collectors do, so these flaws will go unnoticed for the most part.

Nah beats are decently durable from my experience just pretty over priced but durable
@@BriasRocks durable maybe, but are overpriced and sound like 10 dollar headphones
@@charliebingaman571 I paid for the Sony WH-1000X M3. Now THAT is an amazing pair of headphones
Well at least the beats ep's are decent
I collect headphones and i will say the studios and the new wireless pro x are awsome, i mean i do prefer my sony 1000mx but beats sound good and quality is good. Also the peats x are a whole lot louder than my airpods pro. I use my pros more, simply because the case is a whole lot easier to carry. When i hit the gym the beats for sure.
You can get a Seiko 5 for less than this aliexpress wholesale junk.
honestly, Seiko5 is also junk. If person is very low on money I would suggest something like Casio or Swatch.
@@plohish1337 You don't know what you're talking about
@@LorianandLothric I own snk807 - big dissapointment
@@plohish1337 What didnt you like about it?
@@plohish1337 Seiko 5's are perfect for an everyday budget watch. In no way are they junk.
Jory’s the real MVP, putting on a MVMT watch for all of us.
I actually tried buying the art deco MVMT but they rejected my payment! I saved $50 by going to Walmart and buying a Timex.
I love that the second hand doesn’t line up with the markers. And the dust. It’s a junk watch, which is fine, but for $100? Hey, somebody’s gotta get Movado their $100M back.
I wouldn't be surprised if they hit you up and get you another one. With the defects on the box and getting it from Amazon, it wouldn't surprise me if you got a knock off. They can shrink wrap stuff.
Watching this video, skin crawling, screaming in my head the entire time "WHY ISN'T IT HITTING ANY OF THE INDEXES??!!!". 😲🤨🤢😂
The only one it seem to hit is 9 o'clock I think... I was watching it like a hawk too! Haha
I felt like the scene in the office where they're all watching the screensaver bounce around on the TV hahaha I literally did a tiny fist pump when that chubby little watch hit it's mark, finally!
Edit: Fixed o'clock because 9:00 came out as a time stamp.
Favorite anime? Hmm...
Akira
Sailor moon
Kimetsu no Yaiba
Boku no Hero Academia
One Piece
But I'm pretty sure it's Akira
You said that it's your childhood anime I believe
I would rather buy a Timex Fairfield if I want a good looking minimalist watch.. with cool IndigloOoOoOo 8:02 ..
fun fact: Mvmt is a private labeled dropshipping brand. the founder of mvmt is the middle man and orders the watches cheap from suppliers in china. Which would explain the quality.
MVMT is like the Beats of watches. They market to people who've never seen or worn a good watch in their life.
Honestly, I am as far from a watch snob as you can imagine: my watches are Seikos, Citizens, Timexes, Orients, a Seagull 1963; they are automatic watches, they are hand winding watches, and they are quartz watches. I have no expensive watches.I have never seen an MVMT watch "in person", only online, but this is really a piece of crap as didn't even expect it to be... and it even looks crappy too!
i stayed to the end to see you smash it with a hammer. I have left disapointed.
Looks like an AliExpress 4,99$ watch. And performs like one.
As someone who repairs watches for a living, I appreciate videos like this. I said exactly what you said early on. They're a marketing company first, and a watch company last. Hilarious. My favorite part is when a fanboy seriously asks me what I think of his new watch. 🤦🏻♂️ I remember when Michael Kors watches were a must have. I sold a guy a really nice ladies Eco-Drive for his wife for Christmas. $300. All solid stainless. Rose tone and steel. Mother of pearl dial. He left. She came back to the store with him after Christmas.....and I QUOTE..."If I had known you were going to spend $300, I would've told you to get me a Michael Kors." Of course we had a discussion about Citizen vs Eco Drive, but honestly she already had the idea in her mind that Michael Kors was basically a luxury watch and the Eco-Drive was pure garbage. I'm so glad I'm not in retail anymore and just repair watches from home. 🤦🏻♂️
Holy crap. I'm back after finishing all of the video. Wow. The crap under the crystal. And I guessed the movement before you opened it lol. 😂🤣 I buy a VJ32 from parts vendors for like $8. How much per movement do you think a watch manufacturer pays for them? 🤣😂 This is a $15 watch you'd see on the clearance table at TJMaxx and you still wouldn't buy it.
It might be garbage but 18 yo me was happy having this as my first "adult watch" some years ago. Got me hooked on wearing watches and for this I'm still happy I had it, although it's not really standing the test of time.
