James Hareden called Giannis “Run and Dunk” once and people have run with it sadly. No body in the league has mastered the spin move, Euro-step as well as Giannis currently. He has good handles for his size to get to the rim (hence why he averages 30ppg) high IQ defender (won DPOY) just to name a few. Unlike Shaq, (1 made three in entire career), Giannis has made 504 and counting 3s. Clearly despite it being his weakness he doesn’t shy from improving. Plus if you watch his Bucks games, Giannis has been getting better with his midrange and post game. He is only 29, still room for perfecting his offensive skill set.

His skill level is not higher than any 6'0 D1 guard. People vastly underestimate height, arm length, and coordination in basketball, a game where you're trying to put a ball in a 10ft basket. It's because regular folks don't have the slightest idea of development, because it never occurred in their lives. These people think that if you hit the gym and practice, you get better. No, that's not how it works. If it worked like that, every single player in the NBA can be Steph Curry.
All players have talent in different levels and areas. Some players have shooting talent (soft touch, flexible wrist for good spins, spatial awareness to instantly measure the distance to the basket / defenders, etc...) that never revealed; they can practice and get better. Some players don't have talent, and they can't get better.
I've known countless people who play baseball that has nasty curveballs, but can't throw a lick of slider. Then vice versa, there are countless people who has nasty sliders, but can't throw a lick of curveball, and couldn't improve with years of practice.
Giannis probably tried for many years to develop a consistent jumper, but obviously it didn't work. It is pointless for him at this point of his career to try to get better at it, when his drive to the basket will always, ALWAYS have higher successful rate than taking a mid-range jumper.

The argument that Giannis has no bag is the most stupid argument ever. Literally everything he does is a skill, and just because he's naturally talented doesn't mean he should be punished for it or criticized. There are entire Sports dedicated to each individual category whether its speed strength or explosion. Giannis's ability to do that is through his training and that is his bag. Look at Usain Bolt. Anybody who doubts that it was through hard work that made him explosive and fast just searched him now that he has stopped training. It's much deserved but he has gained 30 lbs and without a doubt is no longer near the fastest man in the world. I think it's ignorance but really I think it's people are mad that Giannis is so great in a way they never were. Is mental toughness and Grit that is his bag as a basketball player. For instance Dennis Rodman and Draymond Green were great basketball players. Their bag of stuff that made them great we're not individual offensive skills. What's in a player's bag is in unique and doesn't have to be exclusively sick handle and ability to hit tough Fade Away shots in the ISO. I will take PRIME Shaq's bag of strength dominan over Prime Kobe's bag of being very skilled and athletic, even if it just by a little bit. Prime Shaq could be stopped by no one, I literally mean no one on earth. And to think some people would look down upon him because he doesn't have a bag like a guard handle is crazy.

Maybe he doesn’t have the “moves” other players have, but he gets exactly where he wants to without them. Ironically it’s an argument I’ve heard used to praise people like KD(only needs a couple moves to get where he wants) and the same people use to detract from Giannis. Giannis has a lot of different skills. some days ago, he had 16 assists in a game man, and the day before, 64 freaκing points on the other game. His jump shot and midrange, has improved so much, that at some points he looks like KD, not often, but he's done that too. Should I keep mentioning the records he breaks every single night for the last moth or his defennce, passing, vision etc? Ιsn't that a bag of skills? Those who watch all the games, know what I'm talking about. Show some respect, to the best player in the NBA. He is the best, for many years now, thats why he gets all that hate. So, if this brother took different things from different players and adapted them to his game, how is it possible that he doesn't have a bag? Cause I don't see that many 6'11 running and dunking on everyone, the last time that I checked, Javale McGee never average 30 ppg in any season or Tyson Chandler or DeAndre Jordan.

Yet, I don't see those guys dribbling through 3 or 4 players, spinning/eurostepping, and finishing ambidextrously at the rim. I don't see these guys leading the break, crossing over, going behind the back and throwing crosscourt or no look passes. Or, does having a bag mean you must have a pretty fadeaway jumpshot? Sounds pretty limited to me. I guess Magic had no bag then. Or Lebron for that matter, a guy who's made a career out of bully ball. Yet somehow its a problem when Giannis does it.

"I don’t get the “it’s too late in his career. If he had a handle he’d be beyond incredible."
What Melo is saying makes sense.
Here is the anatomy. The muscles of the hands and wrists have lot of nerves and rich blood supplies because we need them for fine motor skills like writing, playing the piano and "having a handle."
Consequently, it takes a lot of time and effort to refine eye to hand coordination and fine motor skills. So, if you don't start doing the work at a very young age, then you will never master those movements.
Sure, Giannis can develop a competent handle, but I don't think that is what Melo is talking about. Melo is talking about Kyrie Irving level "handles.'
For Giannis to get that level of handles, he will have to put in an insane amount of hours to develop those hand muscles and eye to hand coordination. It will be a lot of work for low yield. Thus, it is not efficient.
Because, he still has to put in the work to keep up his what he already does best to Championship level.
There is not enough time in a day to be a master at everything.
Conclusion, at this stage in his career it will be more efficient for Giannis to spend most of his time working on what he already does best, while spending some time to get his weaknesses to competent levels.

In any competitive professional setting, knowing how to play the game is much more valuable. Making the game easy for you and your teammates is much much more valuable. Playing defense, being the low man, switching, maintaining the intensity on both ends are all more valuable. These are all skills as well. Saying the only skill Giannis has is his athleticism is so not true. Having a bag is only valuable if it actually helps your team win. Nick Young had a bag. Nobody cares. Colleagues at my job didnt know what the actual positions of basketball were called. For less than casual fans who dont know what 1, 2s and 3s are.
    1 - Point Guard (PG)
    2 - Shooting Guard (SG)
    3 - Small Forward
    4 - Power Forward
    5 - Center
I'd say what's really interesting is most unicorns and players that don't fit the mold cleanly, usually can play two positions or are widely considered flexible to play many roles. Jokic, Ben Simmons (before he busted), Steph who plays pg is usually called an sg due to how he plays, etc.

A power-forward like giannis doesn't do a step back from the three-point line and they say that he has no skill. What a bs take. Surely a crossover or a fadeaway is aesthetically pleasing to the eye but to say that giannis has no skill is ridiculous. He is the only one that does euro-step and spin moves consistently and he has tremendous footwork. When he posts he does what he is supposed to do, which is to turn to the basket and leave the ball with a layup or a dunk. This requires footwork and understanding of your surroundings. People just find new ways to hate on him.
