Kings finally had a good coach, Mike Malone, who had DeMarcus Cousins full attention, just for them to fire him when they played above expectations.
Why did they fire him tho it made no sense
@@liulbitew14 Mike Malone and Pete D had issues and when Kings had the short losing streak, that was their reason to get rid of Malone. Malone had Cousins, Gay and Thomas playing great basketball too.
Also, pretty sure part of the reason for that losing streak was Boogie having meningitis??? He and Malone had apparently built a relationship from team USA as well. Always seemed sorta wild to me that he got fired like that.
@@maglover1214That was the only reason. They were actually conspiring for a playoff sport before Boogie went down. He was like the only coach Boogie liked while in Sac and they got rid of him.
@liulbitew14 Techbro owner with new money complex hired a GM with stats don't lie complex who wanted his own coach who would try his retarded experiments on a team with chaotic personalities. Malone was the one coach who coached young men and had the GSW pedigree. That's why Vivek snatched him when taking over as the majority owner. Things have been much better since he stopped trying to run the damn team himself.

Kings fan here. Malone was taking the team somewhere. Everyone bought in and Cuz respected and responded to Malone’s lead. Slowed us down. We were bout to be a savage half court team with Cuz as the anchor. Vivek didn’t like the slowed-down pace, but Malone was just taking advantage of the roster the best he could.
Agree, also worth mentioning that the year prior we had a team that had 3 players averaging 20+ plus points: IT, gay and boogie. Then that worm Pete delassandro decided to trade Isaiah for a bag of peanuts .
Vivek was trying to meddle too much in basketball ops. It was his veto power that got us nik stauskas. Mike Malone did a great job with that group but Vivek had such a hard on to be like the warriors he ordered delassandro to fire Malone.

Even in college you would miss him ( the UConn team had 4 1st round picks in one year) and he would have 25 unforced in the flow of the game and the announcers would be like “Rudy needs to get more involved”

One thing about Rudy Gay was that when he was in Memphis, you were going to get 19 points-no more, no less. If he got 19 in the first half, he shut it down for the rest of the game. Yes, I know that is not true for the literalists, but it sure felt like it when he was playing in Memphis.

He averaged 21-6-4 at the start of his prime with the kings. He was 2 assists off, it's not the end of the world lol

The reality is Gay was a good player who put up a lot of empty stats that had little impact on winning. His comment about not wanting to listen to his trainer pretty much tells you all you need to know about Rudy Gay when he was in the league.
The Kings went 9-4 against the best the league had (the Grizzlies game was stolen from them). They were legit and showing they were finally competitive. Then Boogie got viral meningitis, sat 10 games (they lost most of them of course) then the weasel Vivek fired Malone right as Boogie came back, before they could get back to racking wins.
It was a hatchet job by Vivek. He wanted the Kings to lose those seasons ; noone knows why.
