Cause in the real world Italy was as good as useless and kept needing the help of Germany
The thing is irl Italy secured germanies southern flank and with The gothic line . In the long term, under German command, Italian troops were effective (See the battle of garfagnana)and Germany wasn't encircled. If they had taken over Italy by force, Germany would've had alot more gurilleas to deal with and it would've broken down the nazi regime alot earlier as the Germans wouldve had to put alot more german instead of italian men on the gothic line (which frankly, because of the eastern front, they couldn't afford)

@@freddie9546 that’s not true they probably could have won if they had either waited or been more cautious with the invasion of Russia and not declared war on the US but after Stalingrad and Kursk it was basically over
This wouldn't have happened in the first place though, the Russians were the Germans last target. If that had been a success they would have maintained order for a couple of years and then tried to get peace with Britain. The Axis taking over the world is propaganda.
