I think you said back in an old video that you grew up around Yellow Point, a place our family used to go every summer to an affordable campground called "ABC" run by Bill and Stella Cooley. Bill Jr. went to North Oyster Elementary School and Bill Sr. worked as a mechanic in Nanaimo (when it was Nanaimo), and Stella ran her butt off cleaning the bathrooms, campgrounds or whatever. I spent all day outside fishing, swimming, playing in the forest and hanging out with other kids visiting from all over the continent as I scanned all those funky American States licence plates. Once in a while my cousins from Ladysmith, the Boulets, came out for a visit and we picked corn at the McNab's cornfield down Yellow Point Rd. and went salmon fishing over near Gabriola, DeCourcy, and all those other island. I always wished I lived there but could only dream about returning there next summer while I toughed it out in Victoria as a kid not meant to be in the city. Now that I'm retired and living in the Kootenays, I'm doing research on my Stihl 070, 056, Pioneer 650, Alaskan sawmill, felling large trees etc., etc. and man oh man, it seems like everytime I search around for some information about all these things, BBR comes up on the suggestions. Now I'm wondering if you know any of the folks I'm talking about or know the haunts of where I'm mentioning? I unfortunately chose a different path from being a fulltime wood bug but as a mechanic, I worked a bit in Nanaimo, Woss and then made the move back to the interior where my family originally came from and now I live off grid, build a log home and practice the good living that I was meant to do. Never too late as they say! I'll keep watching and picking up details from sharpening to better bucking efficiency. I'm really enjoying your material. Super! Thanks.
