- In this video, Leah , delves into the connection between knee pain and ankle pain in the context of VA disability claims. She explains how veterans can get rated for knee pain either on a primary basis due to direct service-related injuries or on a secondary basis when an ankle issue affects the knee. Leah highlights several studies that support this connection, emphasizing the importance of obtaining medical reports to substantiate claims. She also notes the role of weight gain from service-connected disabilities in exacerbating joint issues, providing a comprehensive overview to help veterans navigate their disability claims related to knee pain.

Thank you for the information Leah, always picking up tidbits from your videos. I was able to work with Prestige Veteran Medical Consulting earlier this year and I appreciate the work y'all do. Prestige Veteran Medical Consulting is top notch imho. 🙂
Thank you for the awesome feedback sir and the opportunity!
I broke an ankle during pre-mob. I have developed arthritis in both ankles & knees. I got a causation letter from the surgeon that performed the surgery. He states that any major injury shall cause arthritis later in life. I am fighting the VA trying to get a rating for my knees and ankles.
I am sorry to hear this. Best of luck to you
Can you please do a video on how ankle/foot problems are secondary to knees, hips, and back?
Sure thing I will add this to the list
Yes please
Thanks Leah 😊
My only advice is to get into Pain Management. It's a good ideal to start physical therapy, acupuncture...etc✌🏾
Thank you for watching my friend and for the feedback
Are ‘In-Service forms’ such as Periodic Health Assessment Questionnaires and Medical Profiles very effective when it comes to Medical Documentation?
It depends on the context
I was denied hips and back, in 2021, secondary my bilat ankle condition which I was given 10% each ankle. C&P didnt use the tool, didn't read my records obvious by the remarks and then said flat out lie about what i said, at the time i didn't know there was a form available to report this and request another exam. Now I'm dealing with increased chronic pain, and now my knees and shins as well...cannot afford private care so hoping my VA NP can and will be helping with diagnosing and filling DBQs and connecting the link to ankle condition...
Best of luck to you on this sir and thank you for watching
I am 40% back. I have right ankle tendinosis along with heel pain. My left posterior knee is now acting up. Could all these...Back-right ankle/heel-left knee be associated/compensatory?
Possibly! Best of luck to you and thank you for watching
I suffer from severe knee pain. I’m svc connected for bilateral foot issues, can we connect the two?
Some veterans are connected for this. Thank you for watching
So i was denied knee pain secondary to ankle fracture that was service connected.. but the
wording was
different, but i think i tried to do too much at one time and it was automatically denied
I am very sorry to hear this. Thank you for watching!
I was denied secondary conditions of gout, kidney disease, and sleep apnea to anxiety, which I have a diagnosis for all. I was recently service connected for hypertension, gerd, and hemmroids secondary to anxiety. Can I now file a supplemental claim of gout, kidney disease, and sleep apnea to hypertension
I’m sorry to hear about your denials but happy to hear about those approvals. You might want to check with a legal professional about the appeals process
I was given a Permanent Profile for a Tibia fracture.
I am sorry to hear this. hank you for watching.
Former infantry. Diagnosed and medically discharged for Sinus Tarsi Syndrome L ankle, in 1994. Documented antalgic gait while in service and ever since. Obtained a Nexus letter from a Doctor to secondary connected my diagnosed Rt ankle traumatic arthritis, bilat knee arthritis, pain and instability, bilat hip osteorarthritis and lower back arthritis. Two years in and they just connected the lower back, but have denied the knees and hips twice now. I also have in service documentation on discharge of PFPS on one exam, then five days later it says, "Not currently". They have also increased my back from 10% to 20%, yet sent me a letter saying they are reducing my overall rating because the back shows improvement. Even though the same letter says my last exam showed worsening of symptoms. The VA sucks.
I am sorry to heart this sir. Best of luck to you and please keep us posted
How about going the opposite ways? For people who develop ankle issues after knees are diagnosed?
It is possible! Thank you for watching
