Oh it’s insane. It has to be your 3rd or 4th build of that machine to attempt it in 2 days on the show floor. Luckily the most qualified person to help was there 😊
Allen, don't let the naysayers get you down. I think I had 28 entries into the long distance contest. I live in Oregon. But hey it was fun to try and it was awesome to watch the thing go together. I hope you had some fun and I'm really glad you had so much support by the people. There. Look like a real fun time. So, anytime you want to give something away let me know dude I'll take it. I have a P1P in resin, fenders and other things, but I really want to dip my toe into the voron pool. Thinking about a zero... 😊

I once put together a v0.2 in 2 days and it was a mammoth undertaking. I thought the smallest, least expensive Voron would have been the easiest first printer build. Took me about a week to configure the damn thing correctly since I had to learn everything from your channel, Modbot, Nero and Greg’s Maker Corner. Couldn’t have done it without you guys doing what you do. Thank you.

It was really awesome to get to meet you at the show on the second day! I could tell you were really focused and wanted to get the printer done but you still took the time to talk for a few and shake my hand and that meant a lot to me. Thanks for talking for a few minutes it was great!

I submitted to win, and didn't win, but oh well. You are one of the 3 people that pushed me in the direction of the Voron Trident (Nero, Steve Builds/Pooch, and Yourself), and my LDO kit is arriving this coming week. I just got my "pif" parts this past weekend, and I'm super happy with the quality that Defib did on them. So, screw the negativity my dude, carry on.
That was a brave endeavor. Do it again next year? :D I like the part Harbor Freight carrier idea. Good to have backup part makers as well. So ABS was being made and couldnt have noticed! thats awesome. I want to convert my SV05 to a Mercury 1.1
Are you done yet? Great to meet you and interrupt you a few times at ERRF. You have a lot of energy! It's wonderful how the community comes together to help each other be successful.

Actually, our brief discussion while you were looking for parts on day 2 was one of several I had that has given me the confidence boost I needed to pull the trigger on a Voron build myself. So thank you. Hopefully next year you give yourself some time to enjoy the event and luxuriate in the positive fandom because we know the negative people rarely have the guts to do it in person :)
Use wifi extender as your wifi source. It's small, lightweight and it doesn't have any cabling.

update on the mercury build please. trying to decide if it makes more sense to do the conversion or buy a bamboo p1p about the same money.

Never gotten a VZ kit. I'd love to build one but I'm also heavily considering backing off the builds. They are taking up so much time. I may start just streaming builds on Twitch or something & stick to projects on here.

The psychology of giveaways is complicated. It turns out, people who didn't "win" are much happier with something (e.g. a keychain) opposed to nothing. I don't understand why some feel that entitled, but it's pretty common.
So there you go, one solution is to not have giveaways, the other is to have "consolation prizes".

Giveaways are always two edged and I wish people were not so selfish about it. Would donating to schools be better content?
I need to make some connections with local schools & makerspaces. I'd love to see machines go to education, but some aren't necessarily suited to that. Like a Voron may be an advanced machine for a school program to handle. There is a lot to consider there (liability being a not insignificant portion). Hopefully I'll make some better contacts soon. I went to an educational conference and thought I made some inroads, but nothing has come of it.
