    Fantastic. I admit a 5 minute video between pausing and analysing took more like 15. Very stunning, love the almost planear skeg, and widening bustle. The rudder looks like downforce and the folis, whilst reminiscent of Te Rehutai clearly conform to the new regs of one moving plane. Also, bugger it, we've got a new boat. Lets go sailing. To rig, sail, and fly a boat on the first day out of the box screams confidence. Let all hope and believe that the confidence is not misplaced. Personally, I think bang on.

    It looks like they may have the foils from te Rehutai on for testing/commissioning purposes so they don’t show their hand early. I may be wrong, but if you compare to old pictures they look remarkably similar. The hull is very similar too, just way more slender and refined. Let’s hope the race foils are a step up on everyone else.

      @roderick167 Před 3 měsíci

      I’m under the impression once they launch on the water with their foils, they cant change

      Nope. Legacy foils are not counted in the allocation of development foils for the Cup.

      @@roderick167 I think they could have te Rehutai's Foils. In the Rules, AC teams can not put New Foils on a legacy AC75 boat, but they can put legacy foils on the new AC75 boat.

      Skeg is a little more defined the Te Rehutai. As others had expected cockpits are further back too.

    Mozzy sails is going to have plenty to say about this design from the champions, i think this is a evolution of te ruahati way better than the red bull alinghi 75 definitely looking to see what bag of tricks etnz have up there sleeves with the new foils to yet make a showing

  • @MrSingerphotographer

    Those foils are definitely from her older sister, coming Thursday would be the real foils cause it needs to be blessed at the ceremony

    I was expecting something more radical from ETNZ, very similar lines to Alinghi,the 37th AC will be won with the best performing foils.

    I’m in love with this boat already! Deck looks more aerodynamic than Alingj’s with its ‘bumpy’ foredeck sides.
    I wonder why they have those, as well as their cut away transom?
    I also back us to have the best foils but time will tell!

    There is only one perfect boat design for specific criteria , id say they were close in the first place so a radical departure would take them further from it.

      I think a newly discovered material is what it would take to advance these in a very significant way, we are now in an era where computers do 10s of thousands of virtual iterations before the boat is even constructed, probably saving 100 years of traditional make it and see development.

    It seems like ETNZ have played it a little safe with the boat design. Will be interesting to see what the rest of the teams have done. I have a feeling they have pushed forward quite extensively since the last AC.

    • @blinkybagger8342
      @blinkybagger8342 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Evolution via small steps is more reliable than giant leaps which may be more suitable when small steps won't do the job. ETNZ perhaps simply being a bit more dialled-in & dealing with nuances than competitors who are looking to get past a defender with a reputation for being 1 step ahead of the competition.

    • @phillipchan9125
      @phillipchan9125 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@blinkybagger8342 I don't doubt what you are saying. But ETNZ have always been the leaders when it comes to innovation and trying different ideas. So much so that the other teams feel like they are playing catchup. Will be interesting to see how this boat goes in the choppier Barcelona waters. However it does look very stable on the foils and low to the water surface which is generally a good thing. And looks to have great aerodynamics.

    Would be interesting how mutch development on hull able.... then last cup luna rossa was also able bringing on some difference.
    First looking not mutsch difference but underneath and boxes differently mutch like stern.
    What inside sails and boat for sails are blady important.
    Looking sleek and fast.

    It's got more buoyancy towards the stern than the lines suggested at first. I guess that's to accommodate the crew and sails.

      WD, I did hear that because the hull forward is narrow the more space near aft was needed to house all the tech gear hence more volume. Cheers, Mike

    That is the ugliest sail boat I’ve ever seen. Of course beauty was never the point here. Purpose, speed, winning. This is what that looks like.
