Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
Seeing it towed fast enough to clear the water is as hilarious as it is amazing.
Interesting comment, thank you.
That is the ugliest sail boat I’ve ever seen. Of course beauty was never the point here. Purpose, speed, winning. This is what that looks like.
John, interesting comment, thank you.
Is there any chance we can get together and catch up with Justin Mitchen as well, thank you
Probably no point as I have completed filming ETNZ as they have finished sailing Taihoro are are heading off to Barcelona.
Foreshore and seabed belongs to ALL NZers
YES,
Fantastic 🙂
Thank you! Cheers!

Plenty of interest concerning the foils but not much said about the rudder foil. I. It seems equally important. Do they differ much from other rival boats?
The other teams are also holding back on their new rudder foils. The only report I have seen is that the tilt gear seems to be all now above deck.
I thought I heard that the mast was one design? Thats not the same as the others. "Some parts of the boat are supplied - the mast, rigging, foil-cant arms and their hydraulics are all stock components"
Not sure on that but without backstays all down force is controlled with forestay tension
Taken from North head I take it. Very impressive. Seems like she's a real all rounder.
Yes and yes!
I think they have won it already. As for INEOS, they might as well pack up and go home now.
They certainly have a grasp of foiling in light air.
Nice to see them struggling for once with lower wind conditions
Low wind? There hardly any!
@@airflownztravel yeah yeah they're good don't worry, we all know it... you can be proud. Can't wait to take that cup from you though 🌙🔴
Very excited for the cup start, now. Awesome tech.
Will be very interesting.
Looking a nice slow high mode.. Its tested it? 🙏 emirates team NZ winning AC again and Cup coming again to NZ. Fans of sailing loving in years next LV cup in Aotearoa again.... Where we all getting more nice pictures. At bay of island AC and luis viton cup in auckland?
Interesting comment, thank you!
Nice see Taihoro flying with great Rehutai foils in low wind.... The Rehutai had also great foils and was over a ton more on to lift up. ❤️ kiwis perfection and love to sports... also kiwis if living or doing some then with enthusiasm and love.... fly Taihoro fly... What fully name of our lovely boat?
Taiporoporo is her name and she seems to glide in super low wind.
Thanks to you and Justin M getting pictures sailing from Taihoro and for ever best AC team emirates NZ. This time Taihoro its on way to Barcelona they further testing, building and developing! When Taihoro arrives in europe getting straight away some new presents and foils? 🙏 all thats team NZ giving Taihoro all needed she fly fast, stable and creaming loud about happyness in Barcelona! Go kiwis fly.....
Thanks for your interesting comment.
She seems heavier, not as quick to rise. However.....very steady flying when up, very good speed underway. Should be interesting
You would not believe how low the wind was. See the yacht out by the light house, just drifting with the tide!
Good but Barcelona is not a lake
Did you see the video of them out in 25+ knots? Was impressive
Last week the chase boats had to pull back as the wind and sea conditions were to much for them!
@@airflownztravel Barcelona has long deep waves even with 8kt, it's a strange spot. Look at Alinghi foil, up and down all the time. I don't think its a bouat issue.
Beautiful!
She is!
What is Taihoro's approximate speed in this video? She's lovely!
If the wind was down to 4 knots it would be about 16.
@@airflownztravel Thank you for this reply! So, is 4× the prevailing winds Taihoro's best performance?
@@mikemontagne2703 Grant Dalton mentioned the x4 factor lastvweek!
I think 4x is a factor that has been around for quite some time even going back to the ice racing yachts over 100 years ago!
@airflownztravel Taihoro's crew will be striving for say, ×5+ ?
because kiwis can fly bro we don't need wind.
Every little bit of wind is put to good use!
Learning to fly Taihoro takes a lot of work. They seem comfortable with their Waka design. Good signs.
Cool team of sailors!
Looks like Taihoro has a technique for dealing with gusts, where she just raises the ride height. So just popping up higher, or lower, as the wind strength changes. Instead of heeling over, a higher ride height would allow more wind slippage under the hull, relieving excess pressure. And it may also increase the righting moment too - altho someone with more maths might like to check that one out...
In high winds it looked like quite a bit of (deliberate) heel going on too?
Wing flaps can play a huge part in all this!
Thank you for the footage
Nice comment, thank you.
Looked good foiling in those light winds but once you drop off the foils it takes a while to get back up again.
Last time in Auckland I doubt if any yacht would have gotten on to their foils in yesterdays light wind.
When do they leave?
No date posted but sailing may be completed by Thursday this week.
Waitemata Harbour so beautiful
Thank you.
Beautiful smooth sailing looking great so far
Right on!
To all the challengers, it won't even matter if you don't make the final
Good Sports!
Thankyou for sharing your vid.. very nicely done..and lovely to see our boys working thru the daily list
Great comment, thank you!
Keep trialing keep testing
Yes, right up to next Thursday when the move to Barcelona commences!
ETNZ nice boat. Need more speed. Well done nice job ETNZ. God bless the teams.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wait till they unleash their new foils.
There will be no holding back then!
Very keen to see this in person. What time do they usually head out and come back roughly?
No times given or allowed by Rules. AM departure between 11 and 12. Afternoons around 2 but you never find out unless you happen to be at Base and see launching. Usually out for 2 - 4 hours. All over after next Thursday.
@@airflownztravel great, thanks!
Looks very stable when running straight, with very little drag What really sets her apart at this point is the smooth tacks/gybes
Good comment!
I wonder how they'll go in the rougher seas in Barcelona.
Last week they were down in the back paddock with 30kph wind in choppy seas and they handled that well
I'm sure they have accounted for that considering they were the ones that choose the venue. These guys are complete experts and professionals in their field. And don’t forget they sailed in Barcelona last year on Te Rehutai.
Did they break something at the 6:00 mark? gets squirrely and then they stop.. that did not look planned, waving over the chase... czcams.com/video/hD-8PmOjdXE/video.htmlsi=rbDmfNN__Ebf61Y2&t=360
They stopped once in the early part to change their headsail. Nothing out of the ordinary noted.
Want to see how the British yacht goes, look's different from the other's,
Go to Americascup.com for daily reports, keeps you up to date with all teams.
Luna rossa è stabile uguale ma vira molto meglio ad ora .
Sounds like good news!
it will all come down to the starts, alinghi and luna rossa look equally as fast luna rossa is like a knife through butter
And reliability of all the tec gear!
Flat and protected waters, a lot of difference to the sea conditions off Barcelona!
😂😂yes they have sailed Te Rehutai in Barcelona
@@SoaaJr - Yes, I forgot about Boat 1, going to be good!
Last week they sailed in 25-30 knot winds in choppy conditions and the boat held up well.
Ho hum, bla, bla, bla………so everyone keeps saying. Personally I think that’s a non event.
@@fabmanly1070 😂is that after you watched it and felt the need to comment 😂 your too ez mate
Smooth and steady on her wings! She's beautiful on the move.
Great comment!
she looks three times faster than everyone else. you agree?
She looks fast but you will have to see when she is sailing alongside a competitor!
And these are the old foils
Yes, all the teams are not showing their latest foils.
I won’t say it is faster than the others but very stable and controlled. The Kiwi’s certainly know what they are doing.
How are you able to tell if it is faster, it is not in a race? Wait until Barcelona and then it will become apparent which is faster.
@@geoffhurrell8787 - He said "I won't say it is faster.."
@@geoffhurrell8787, obviously.
Hands up who is timing her past the bouys to work out the speed 😅?
I had thought of doing that!
Nice calm wind sails!!!!
They have more than one sail that can be used to suit conditions.
More stable than Te Rehutai was
Probly they have more modern stabilisation gear?
Kia ora from Sydney brother 👍💪🇳🇿😍
Thank you!
You can see it is faster than all the others.
They're about to lose their defence of the cup
how can you say? different wind different sea, to many variable in play...only the competition will tell

1:00 minute in, am I the only one hearing "Rock the boat, don't rock the boat baby, Rock the boat, don't tip the boat over!" ???
Not sure of the sound track but it was a little strange how she moved from one side to the other. I think someone was playing with the raising and lowering of the foils?
