    I’m hoping you can answer a question for me. I manage a nonprofit feeding program in Mindanao Philippines been here about 7 years now. I’m from the US.I recently purchased a Mitsubishi Adventure that has a normally aspirated 4D56 diesel engine. I love this AUV so much.They don’t have these in the states.I live in a very remote mountainous area and haul lots of supplies all over the country.Ive made lots of modifications to it in order to make life easier.Installed a heavy duty clutch and shocks as well as lifting it a few inches.My only problem with the car is lack of power.I know that the engine internals are different on the normally aspirated 4D56’s than the turbo models but I’ve been told that I can install a turbo kit and recalibrate the fuel pump and have no worries about blowing the engine.Do you think it’s possible to do this?I have a small budget and can’t afford to replace the engine if it blows so I’m pretty nervous.I really need the extra power but can live with it as is if I have to.Anyway I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance for your feedback

  • @Synic08

    I would assume a popular video would be like, what is the MINIMUM, to make turbo woosh sounds and stuff… it has to LOOK the part too, have a turbo, all the nice pipes, but, not necessarily making mad power…. Is there a “stand alone” system that could(i’m spitballing here) take a reading at the intake and exhaust, and make fuel adjustments, itself, without the original computer really even noticing? As boost goes up, you program the injector to add fuel and maintain the right air fuel mix..?

      I'm not familiar with the d-series but yeah your blowoff valve should always be manifold after the throttle body You also need to take care of your PCV system if anytime you're running boost you got to have a check valve to your crankcase now the way I do it on my turbo 2 l is you actually run two lines and one is the normal crankcase to catch can to the manifold but then in between those and the check valve you in another line with another check valve to the turbo inlet so it still has some vacuum pulling on the crank case under boost it's hard to explain in words but there's tons of diagrams online on how to do it right

    • @TURBOTRISTO
      @TURBOTRISTO  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Emmalyn, to remove and replace the factory ecu in a civic you need to go into the passenger side footwell remove a plastic kick panel and remove up to 4x 10mm bolts once they are removed you simply unplug the 2 -3 plugs from the ecu, if you are looking to chip the ecu that is normally only able to be done with a 3 plug ecu on a vtec model civic once you get the ecu chipped it will then be programable, most commonly used is a hondata, if you search p28 or p72 ecu hondata install you will find hundreds of videos about it, if your civic is not VTEC and you are wanting to tune it because it is turbo or supercharged then you might need a stand alone ecu like a haltech or aem or link , motec ect, these are much more complex when I did mine I paid a professional to do it for me so I didn't mess it up

    • @TURBOTRISTO

      No the vacuum needs to be operational so it can increase the rate of pressure hence the rising rate , 1 extra psi needs to increase fuel pressure 1psi if not the injectors wouldn’t be able to have even flow at higher boost,

Gonna order down pipe soon and look for some good turbo options but don’t have much knowledge about turbos cause its my first car that m gonna put on turbo. I heard that k24z3 engine is good for turbos and current stock internals can handle upto 9psi if i’m not wrong. But not sure what kind if turbo will be best. As i saw your videos and i can say that you have pretty much best knowledge for k series and hondas in Australia. If you can help me with this project of putting on turbo and cam suggest which turbo and parts i can buy for this process.

      @@33Saini Thanks for the kind words, I wouldn't for a second pretend to be a k series guru, I do know how to set up a turbo though- you can turbo your car, but unfortunately there is no real turbo kit for it everything needs to be custom made and the pipi ng is quite intricate, I have a 2012 accord cu2 with the same engine, and I often think about turbo charging it, how ever due to not having the best skills for alloy welding it would cost a lot of money in fabrication alone,
      my estimate is it would cost close close to 10k maybe more, you can buy a cheep turbo from $150 but the injectors fuel pump computer and tune as well as the custom exhaust manifold and down pipe plus the intercooler set up will cost thousands I would go to elusive racing for a quote, you might be shocked it isn't cheap, they will most likely recommend a turbo that is around $2000 but you will be running 15psi and making over 450hp at the wheels, you will also need a new clutch and flywheel that will cost $1500 plus fitting
