This will be good when I decide to turbo my civic for the track!
Hell yeah can’t wait to turbski that little nug 🤪
Stumbled upon ur channel about 2 weeks ago but binged all ur turbo builds. Love the vids and now I’m trying to get the parts to turbo my 2000 corolla
That is soo cool where are you based what model Corolla , maybe I can help…
@@TURBOTRISTO I’m in Sydney and it’s an ae112 2000 corolla with a 7afe motor. Is there anything I can msg you my list of parts to see if I’m missing anything? And do you recommend a t25/t28 or a t3/t4?
Great video and information content. I like seeing the visual diagrams on the white board, it's a great change to appeal to a wider audience. Looking forward to more of your videos
Thank you sir! I plan to entertain and train at the same time as learn more things myself
Great channel man! Just got my honda concerto boosting! Can't wait to get it tuned eventually 👌 keep spooling legend ✌
Thank you mate
Love the channel man really good details and I love to learn new ways to save money and make my daily d16 run faster Keep up the great work can't readout to see more
Thanks mate that means a lot , thanks for the support I hope you subscribed
I know this is older but this just saved me a whole lot of issues. Thanks.
No worries dude
Awesome Videos, Bro!!!
I'm always stopping to watch these videos to assist me in my build
Awesome man thanks for the kind words I’m glad I can keep helping people
I hopped on the d series post with some flame before seeing every bit of the video, as I'm not a fan of this method. but you do mention how important it is that end goal should be a tune.
To make my input constructive, It would benefit alot of people to understand the tuning process a little bit more and how important proper engine management is. And what all it can control
Idk your personal capabilities when it comes to tuning software and application but touching on some of the basics as to what people should expect from the process and how to be prepared (which to your credit, you do give alot of info that will make sure anyone adding a turbo will still have a fairly regular running vehicle till tuning is figured out) and how easily available the services are in alot of locations.
Maybe touch on different tuning options and softwares offered and price differences and capability differences
Thank you , great comment , yes I do cover this topic quite regularly, notice I wear a Haltech cap… my person civic d series turbo has always run an elite 1500, I always always suggest over and above all else to get a tune!!!!! Thanks for watching and thanks for such a great well thought out comment
I remember the fish tank filter trick used back in the day. This was around 96-97 that was being used.
yep that's why today we are myth busting it and seeing if it actually does anything
sweet great Mythbusting here on the channel great info, I'm glad you said that a tune is always the best option!
Glad it was helpful!
I'm waiting for my wideband to arrive but still have to drive my car in the mean time before my tune. I've been driving it with a light foot to stay out of boost because it just falls flat on its face once the MAP reads anything. I just bought 3 check valves from autozone and did what you did.... I can't believe this works as well as it does lmao I can use positive 3psi now. This is awesome. How did I not know about this? Makes it really easy to drive until my tune. Thanks!

You are welcome buddy
Love this !!

Hahaha ancient innovation
Thank you for your time and resources
no worries Sam, thanks for watching please consider subscribing if you haven't already
Since there's no pressure in the oil drain can I just use barb fittings, hose and clamps? It's down low so can't really see it, removing/reinstalling AN lines is a pain and my cheap fittings leak a little.
Yes you sure can Frosti
Just added a turbo to mine.. starts good, but runs ruff checked the plugs their black.. under boost feels like it’s lean out.. running stock d16y8 injectors, stock ecu, stock o2 sensor and a FMU.. do u have any idea why the issue.. thx.. ur videos are great..
Hey mate the issue is going to be a combination of a stock map sensor and a stock narrow band 02 sensor you will need to figure out a solution for these or go to a stand alone ecu
So how exactly do you set up the fish tank check valves, also another question will this cause you to loose boost ? like will all your boost just drain out the valves
No it’s fine check the diagram in the video
I have a 2000 Honda Civic hatchback with a D16Y8 and a turbo kit installed after 5 lb the check engine light blinks for the map sensor it does have a chipped esc got any ideas
No man if your ecu is chipped go get it tuned run 10psi be happy
I run 6 to 9psi on my stock Lexus LS400 and it loves it! Now I have d16y8 to go in my little hatch project I feel some boost coming on😁
great news is if you have a d16y8 you can cost effectively run a hondata, make sure you do that as it will be the best option for you
@@TURBOTRISTO overnight I ordered a Hondata s300 and a refurbished P28. I figured that way I've got the ideal building blocks to go big later on. It a was a huge expense but you only live once don't you. 👍
thats soo awesome man I envy the USA guys that can buy these parts cheap
@@TURBOTRISTO I'm UK mate 👍 so not cheap like the US
Hey Tristan, I did the 4 fish tank valves but i’m getting check engine light around 4k rpms. The car doesn’t break up but it runs really rich after CEL. If I turn off the car it resets. Any suggestions?
Hmmm weird, I checked in on this car yesterday and it’s still running fine the way we set it up not sure man I’d have to suss it out
Love the channel I'm going to subscription after writing this.. I'm about to turbo my 99 civic has a d16 y8 and help would be great.. I saw a maxspendingrods turbo kit. Lucky in the states online it's 500$ for the kit.. my motor has 200k + miles should I over haul the motor first..
No man just send it on the engine replace some gaskets and the timing belt don’t open the motor just watch my 18things you need to know before turboing your car video
Ok I will watch it. Thanks for the response.. thanks for the content this channel is a real big help. Keep up the good work
thanks mate, i need to get my honda sorted
So I decided to buy a Honda with a turbo kit already installed.. so if that motor goes at least I have another to drive.. here in the states I've found a few for around 2000 USD.. I will post and send you the link after I find the right civic or prelude
awesome mate thanks
Hey mate, is it running stock ecu on that build? And didnt change or add anything? Just the ebay turbo kit?
Correct
Thankyou man.
You're welcome!
How’s this holding up? Might try on my set up until I get a tune
Still going strong man
So what vacuum port did u plug it in ? T’d it With bov or boost gauge
It will be shown on the video sorry I can’t remember
@@TURBOTRISTO can u check
its not my car sorry mate the guy lives across town
wow u got me thinking I have a tercel with a afc install did u think I can do this to go better but my car its N/A still
Won’t need it if your car is n/a you can just do breathing mods
@TURBOTRISTO 👍
I wonder what the afr readings are. I wonder if it brings it close 🤔
Bro no clue,
@@TURBOTRISTO That's not good at all lol good way to grenade your block
hello, I turbocharged the d14 civic with its original brain, 0.5 bar, but the map goes into trouble, is there a solution with this system? Thank you
give this a try see how you go mate
@@TURBOTRISTO can i write with pure-c apex afterwards thank you ❤❤
Wait why don't you use a new map sensor that reads higher? I hope you're not sticking with a stock obd2 ecu cuz that will knock.
Yeah that is ideal and you can buy them for $25 on eBay but they need to be calibrated and tuned on the car via a programable ecu
Do you know where to pick up a missing link? I've been looking for one and all of the sites seem non responsive.
i dont if they are a thing any more most people tune the cars and add 4 bar map sensors
Do you need that for a maf
It’s to trick the map
Why don't you use boost controller to replace those fish tank?
Boost controller to bleed air off? From the map sensors is a good idea
I've heard of this being done to fool the MAP sensor, but I would imagine that this would just create a boost leak. I bought a 3 bar MAP sensor, 1000 cc injectors, and I socketed and chipped my P28 ECU for Crome (it's a tuning program). I didn't want to mess around with an Apex'i SAFC. Even my boosted J32A2 CG1 Accord has an AEM Series II 30-6051 standalone.
That is the correct way to do it my man good job, I know all about crome I have it on my laptop
Yes, clearly wideband and tune is the correct way to boost, but this actually works... And it works well lmao! I'm waiting for my wideband to arrive and I threw these check valves in to try it and the difference is night and day!
Good Man, what you've done is Standard...but some of us cannot get Hondata or a P28 Tune...I have an Automatic Integra...No help nowhere...so this guy is my Hero
Synapse made the original missing link if im not mistaken Blox makes them too. See them from 25 to 45 dollars pending on who's selling them and they come in different colors. P# BXFU-00300
Yes you are correct, in Australian dollary doos they are around $110 last time I looked
@@TURBOTRISTO you want a red one or black one i will mail one out to you I have spares. Then you can see which method might be better.
yeah bro, the D15 is about 3.5mm difference in deck height. slap a turbo on it and send it
send it!!!! son
I know that H22 injectors go in my 93si .....they push more fuel than the stock ones
Nice to know I also heard evo injectors can also work
Why not just relocate the map sensor to the turbo intake?
It’s a manifold absolute pressure sensor not an air flow meter so it is designed to run manifold pressure an air flow metre would help as a Band-Aid but eventually when it gets tuned it would become a nuisance
Old school.
very old school , this hack is soo old school I couldn't even find a CZcams video on it
@@TURBOTRISTO hey love the videos bro can you please email me I need help d16 turbo stock fmu should I run the 410cc and 255lph fuel pump or leave those stock
@@RileyEScott yes run them
How much bhp is it running
Un dynoed man
@@TURBOTRISTO oh thanks anyway
Did anyone try speeduino on a d16 p2k ecu? Won't that be way cheaper!
sure would be we are developing an ecu set up as we speak, this customer hasn't opted to do this on his car
Wonder how the AFR numbers looks like 🤔
Lol don’t we all
No tune
haha tooon
I think its time for a new ecu
100% I instructed the customer to go that route ASAP this is temporary
From the looks of it evo10 injectors wont fit. Evo 4 and 10 injectors are over 500cc
Hmm I wonder what injectors my buddy was running then? He said they were evo??
Why not just get a 4 bar map?
Just stumbled upon this. Great video no disrespect!
4 bar map needs a tune, there is no off the shelf ecu for d16y4
What's ths reason for the hesitation?
stock ecu, stock tune, stock timing, stock fuel pump, stock injectors, stock map sensor, nothing on these cars were designed to run positive boost pressure
I will be trying this on my prelude f22b dohc non vtec. Thank u for the fast reply
Check valve* not a filter at all.
