The British encouraged Chinese immigration to Singapore; and when the Chinese became the majority, the british held referendum so that Singapore would've been independent(instead of having one big Muslim country, let's split them) from Malaysia and that's what happened. As for legality of situation I suggest you to read London and Zurich agreements which clearly states that "Turkey had every right to act in Cyprus due to actions of Greek government"
Also as far as I know when North side was offered unification with USA intervention it was South side that refused to unite But when EU offered unification where Greeks had more profit south side and Greece jumped to offer only to be refused later so don't spew your BS on me pal

There will be a lot of people soon enough talking about ''illegal'' Turkish occupation of Cyprus while in reality Turkey was one of guarantor states of Cyprus and had every right to intervene after EOKA terrorists seized Cyprus government and started to attack Turkish Cypriots which is why you can't find any western official arguing Turkey was wrong to intervene rather they are defending Turkey has no right to stay in Cyprus but once again they completely ignore those EOKA terrorists weren't even arrested by southern Cyprus even if they killed hundreds of people including even Greek Cypriots!! Then how exactly Turkey could trust southern Cyprus and there won't be more attacks against Turkish Cypriots while those terrorists are still free??? Also Greece directly supported EOKA terrorists (Even their leader was a former Greek officer) in order annex Cyprus and it is why EOKA targeted some Greek Cypriots as they were against this annexation aka ''enosis ideology''. That means the republic of Cyprus. Since Makariis returned on the 07/12/74 it means that Ecevit should have said to Makarios i'm going back now, and leave 650 turkish soldiers according to the 1960 constitution.
So, 2020 and the constitutional order was restored 46 yrs ago and they are still here. This is called OCCUPATION wether you like it or not.

I love Turkiye ! I am so proud that we chose to share when they chose to take all , when they chose to send back poor syrian refugees to their deaths we chose to take them into our lands and look after them. We are a race of strong and honourable ppl and I’m sure the Greeks have ppl like this also but aslong as there are politicians and other nations involved like the British and Eu nothing good will happen as they still have the smell of fear in their scents and they remember what we did to them trying to surf our beaches at Gallipoli

The violence erupted before invasion in 1963 also lead to the death of Greeks. It was not a planned attack against Turkish Cyprus, but intercommunal violance, that eventually stoped after makarios efforts.
Intercommunal violence, funny that's what the Germans probably called their "final solution."
This isn't really even up for debate, the Greek Cypriot leadership were pretty open and loud about their intent to exterminate the island of a small minority group. They weren't very shy at saying this in public.

@@improvementbeyond2974 It isn't so called, the ethnic cleansing is one of the most cut and dry cases of ethnic cleansing which has ever occurred.
It is so cut and dry that the leaders of the ethnic cleansing campaign were pretty loud, clear and open about their intentions in public. They literally made statements bragging about how they were going to exterminate a minority group.
What stopped the ethnic cleansing? It's pretty clear what stopped it, a larger army showed up on the island and slapped around the militia groups who were killing civilians. These groups didn't put up much resistance either, I'd imagine killing unarmed civilians was easy but fighting a real army proved too much for them to handle.

Turkish paramilitary groups started the violence against the greeks because they wanted the "taksim" the partition of the island. Turkish army inveded 10 years later where there was not a single evidence of violence against the turkish population. And the turkish army invaded fought with no or minimal resistance as greece never send army. Thousand died or forced to live their homes.

Compete misinformation, but not surprised from TRT at this point. EOKA didn’t target TCs during the years of 1955-58. There were only a few TC policemen killed but this wasn’t because they were Turkish, it was because they were part of the colonial police force, EOKA just simply couldn’t afford opening another front against the TCs when they already had a heavy one open with the British. The reason for the beginning of segregation between the two communities was because of Denktash and his cronies. He ordered the Turks Turks to riot in Nicosia to promote the idea that Greek and Turkish Cypriots could not live together and therefore any plan that did not include partition would not be viable. This violence was soon followed by bombing, Greek Cypriot deaths and looting of Greek Cypriot-owned stores and houses. Greek and Turkish Cypriots started to flee mixed population villages where they were a minority in search of safety. This was effectively the beginning of segregation of the two communities, it was HIS fault not EOKA (who had their fair share of problems). Why is this never mentioned by your media outlet?

They were the 77.1% of the island. So they could throw out the British. People were living together. But after the struggle against colonialism, and the British divide and rule practise, the encouraged the turkish cypriots to ask for a homogenised piece of land. They even started to riot greeks cypriot houses and properties in order to avoid them being near them. Those were before the '60s. After the Zurich agreements, yes there were mistakes from the greek cypriots too. But, that doesn't excuse the presence of turkey with arms. There obligation was to restore the constitution. But even this, was divisive.... Have in mind that people can go through well in Cyprus. Till they believe in the Republic Of Cyprus
On about early June 1958, a bomb exploded in the Turkey's embassy ,information office in Nicosia . Because of this event ,we had real troubles between the Greek and Turkish Cypriots.
For this event ,the British government , arrested about 18 Greek Cypriots , hold's them for few days , questioned them ,and finally released them right our site the Turkish Cypriot village of Gionelly .The majority of those Greek Cypriots were from the Greek Cypriots, near by , the village of Kontemenos . Because of that .bomb event , many Turkish Cypriots from the village of Gionelly ,went after them , murdered about 8-9 of them , and heavy Inger's many others .
Those innocent Greek Cypriots were the very first deads between the two communities .
About that bomb incident , we have in our days ,a late Mr.Denktas confession about .!
