I bought a looper , im not super cluey about techo stuff and this was the clearest little lesson so far . dont underestimate how valuable even the most basic info is to us , im grateful for the clarity and simplicity. ps i use a Roland AC33 and a Roland AC 90. theyre beautiful for the vocals.

    I have been playing for 22 years and I think this is the best tool for solo practicing or live performances with loop effects. This pedal is super easy to use and it is extremely accurate. I make loops that are sometimes 1-2 minutes long before the loop comes back around. Its worth the $180 IMO. Get the external foot switch also. Makes looping even easier.

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  Před 5 lety +1

      This isn't possible with this pedal, or most (any?) loop pedals. You have to record the initial loop in time, and then follow and play to the rhythm of the loop. The loop will not adjust tempo if you speed up or slow down your playing.

    • @katiemunro7017
      @katiemunro7017 Před 5 lety

      Graham Hine I agree- he explains on a portion of this video that the drum beat actually follows him ...not the other way around. Misleading.

    • @brianleechee
      @brianleechee Před 4 lety

      You have to play your riff in time with the tempo. You can set or see the tempo where he shows the blinking LED on the right. You play the riff and then select your beat. The beat follows the tempo of that blinking light. So i believe you have to set the tempo, play to that tempo, and then add the drums. Or set the tempo, select the drums you want, then play to the drums you've chosen. But you can't like play at 100bpm, then speed up your playing to 150bpm and expect the drums to speed up when you do lol

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  Před 6 lety

      To delete the phrase, you have to press the Write button for 2 seconds. However there are ways to cancel the recording of a phrase while in overdub mode that doesn't require you to bend down and press the Write button:
      To Undo: Hold down the pedal for at least two seconds during playback or overdubbing; the recording or the most recent overdubbing will be canceled.
      To Redo: If you want to restore the canceled sound, hold down the pedal for at least two seconds while playback once again.
      To Clear: Hold down the pedal for at least two seconds while stopped; the current phrase will be cleared. (Clear is temporary; phrases saved in phrase memory will not be deleted.)

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  Před 3 lety

      The RC-3 will detect the tempo after the first phrase is recorded, and will blink at the tempo it detected. If you press the Rhythm ON before you begin recording your first loop the RC-3 will be locked to that tempo when you record. This allows you to start a drum pattern first, in order to play better in time.

    how do you erase the very first layer?

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  Před 3 lety

      You can't - you can only erase/undo the last layer you recorded. Once you record another layer, it is essentially merged with the layers underneath it and it cannot be manipulated independently. To do what you're looking to do, you'd need a multi track looper like the Boss RC-300 or RC-505.

    Can you hook a guitar and a mic to the RC3 at the same time?

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  Před 4 lety

      The RC-3 doesn't have an XLR input for a microphone, but you can plug in a dynamic mic with an XLR to 1/4" cable. You can plug the guitar and mic into the stereo inputs and then plug an amp into the mono output and the guitar and mic will be mixed. However getting their levels balanced might be tricky...

      Recording time I know. RC1 has like 10 minutes of loop time. RC3 has 3 hours of loop time total. Ex: you can make 3 hour loop or many loops divided into 99 sub tracks.

    • @Sursie_Metzger
      @Sursie_Metzger Před 5 lety

      bluesroc The RC-3 unlike the RC-1 has a reverse mode to reverse the loop, has a loop time of longer than 12 minutes, it has more capabilities such as being able to connect to a computer or laptop, it also has a rhythm drive that gives you preset drums to play along with that can adjust to your tempo etc So it’s a more diverse version of the RC-1 but the two are equally great options for a starting looper or basic loop station if you have a small chain/are pressed for space.

    I have this pedal but when I record a track in clean and then want to play over it with distortion it switches them both to distortion any suggestions on how to make it not do that or is it just the way the pedal works

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  Před 5 lety +1

      It depends on where in the signal chain you put the looper pedal. If you put the looper first in the chain and record something with a clean tone, it will be affected by everything after it in the chain, including your distortion. To accomplish what you want, put the looper at the end of your signal chain (or at least after your distortion). The loop played by the RC-3 will remain clean and only what you're playing over it will be distorted.

      Long & McQuade Musical Instruments will that still work if my amp doesn’t have loop effects input? My amp is a peavy vypyr vip-1. Also I use a VOX satchurator its kind of a older pedal but it doesn’t work for looping dirty over clean. Could it be my distortion pedal because its a older style one and it wont work with the looper pedal or is it my amp? One other thing is I have been using a AUX cord that would plug into a phone with the guitar adapter thing so it can plug into a amp and guitar. Because I have been waiting on a order of guitar cord I only have 2 guitar cords. Could that be the reason its not working. Im really new to pedals and don’t know much about them.

    • @longandmcquade
      @longandmcquade  Před 5 lety

      @@kaylummclachlan3964 Yes it'll work with any amp regardless of it having an effects loop or not. It also doesn't matter what distortion pedal you're using or its age. In this case, it seems that the issue is with the order that the pedals are connected in front of the amp. However you cannot link together more than one pedal without additional cords, so wait for your order of cords to come in and see if that helps. Plug them in like:
      Guitar -> Distortion -> Looper -> Amp
      For this setup the -> represent cables, so you'd need 3 cables to use both pedals plugged into the amp.

Very disappointed, maybe I'm missing something? Makes me wonder if drum track could be imported. Yeah, all of two drummers in 45 years, one was so good I was dumbfounded, it was very cool..

    no way to pick of the 99 loops in a live performance makes that feature moot really.
    minimally should have external pedal port or something to cycle thru loops... 99 is unbearable even this way.maybe assign loops to a playlist ? or intro loop, hook loop, chorus loop, break loop, jam loop and ending loop ? saved as a set but how to choose a set or assign ? its cool to save via usb tho. its 2020 folks. i made my first delay and loop in 1975 from discrete components... too bad i never knew value of things i made back then... never could afford even meager gear... today too i bang on beater offerings... but im not proud... would just be nice to have a guitar with good action, good pickups n harness, (all boss) metal gear, bass, 12 string, 2 tap delay, and a looper thats truly useful live else i just stick to ableton for scenes i guess 😣 im 64 benn shot stabbed eyes crushed tortured n left for dead in the desert... much inspiration hammered like hell... but ive jammed with known musicians and produced short time charters.. (3 days at #7 hardly counts if not sustained).
    maybe days numbered with 2-3 daily seizures... fingers decrepid... but thats my only meditation... i can believe how hard it is in 2020 to come up straight forward live-ready ergonomics tho... im in venice ca old folks home if any old donatable or borrowable gear 😆 u know the id... at g mail 😉 god bless

      It does have an external pedal port that you can cycle through the 99 loops up and down. You can arrange the loops in order (set list) with a computer and then take to your performance.

    Typical guitarist. I set the rhythm with my strumming and the drummer follows me. “When was the last time a drummer followed you?” Nope. That’s not how this works, dude. The drummer is the beat keeper. I like this pedal, but you’re better off setting a tempo with the drums and learning to follow that. Trust me you’ll be a better player if you can follow a beat.
