Our simple looping guide for all BOSS loopers with Mark Harley from BOSS. In this video we're using the legendary BOSS RC-3. Shop loopers - bit.ly/39h730r
@@Steve91694 1:40 he explains how to switch it from "RO" (overdub) mode to "RP" (playback) mode. Only way to make it record after one tap prior to any playback is to reset the loop channel (hold down the pedal for 2 seconds). You can also google the RC-3 owner's manual. Hope this helps!
record to play mode helped me a lot - great tip at the beginning!!! I would often get a great first loop but then mess up the immediately recorded second 'overdub' loop. It makes much more sense to me in the second mode
Thank you! I acquired an RC-3 two weeks ago and found the booklet to be difficult for me to understand, so this has given me a good start. I'm sure I'll learn more moving forward. Thanks again.
Thanx for this video, its simple, but so necessary because the manual written by BOSS is just bad for beginners. As a beginner you don't start with overdubbing, You want to create a one layer loop and then solo over it. In the manual you find this most valuable information just on page 19!. These guys in the video bring it first!
The opening instructions have completely changed my view of this pedal - purchased years ago as hardly used as the overdub function wasn’t how I thought it should work - completely changed my view with that opening tip - Thanks!!!
Love your Scouse accent Mark.... My wife is from Liverpool. Thanks for the demo and I think I'm going to buy one tomorrow from my local music shop here in Sydney. Cheers mate!
I just got this pedal like within the last couple days. I almost was about to get rid of it bc I thought that it was just stuck the way it was and I thought how is everyone making it work and I can’t. The bit where you showed how to change it to record/play just saved me from getting rid of it So glad you two made this video
Thank you for that ... I have had a Loop pedal for a couple of years & had no idea how to use it. Always having the Air gap issue.... Yay I might be able to make it work now.
Rc3 is by far for me the best looper I've tried shed loads of functionality, reasonably priced, doesn't take up a lot of room and excellent audio quality
Thank you, your video was very helpful. I am tying to decide between the RC-1 and RC-3. I think you sold me on the RC-3. I'm just an amateur basement guitar player.
I have an RC-3 but I only use it occasionally and I always always forget how to use it. I ended buying a really cheap looper by Lekato that was easier to use. But I am going to to use the RC-3 more often now because it certainly has a lot of features.
I am curious what happens with a song that has more than four or five chords, take for example "Music to Watch Girls By" Do I have to do the entire background first? I generally just add notes and chords where I need them to fill the sound. Thanks, Paul
I've owned this pedal for several years and I still stand behind it as an extremely useful tool for practice. With a little patience and a little tinkering, one can figure this thing out rather easily. It's way more fun to practice over your own playing versus playing with a pre-made generic track or backing tracks. Get the Fs-5 external foot switch for maximum playability.
@@waynelock2951 basically convenience. No extra features. It works best for setting your tempo. Just tap your foot on the foot switch to set tempo. Also makes it easier and quicker to delete unwanted loop attempts, and also to stop the loop altogether. Makes the loop pedal a little more "hands free" I suppose.
I love this video. So easy to understand. You just made my day. Do you have a tutorial on the RC 300? I bought it but then returned it because it was such a big learning curve. I couldn't find anything out there that wasn't some guitar players simply jamming with it. They didn't take the time to show you step by step like this.
Thank you so much for sharing, as people mention below changing from rd to to is invaluable. I’ve just bought this for my daughter and she really likes the demo here, any chance someone could share the chords at the beginning and what scale the lick is based around or what the tab is for this please ? Thank you so much for explaining how to use.
thank christ for that ,, i have the rc30 was worried it would not do the same ,, the nightmare ive had over the years playing wish you were here , and trying to double tap quick lol , before going into the lead , i mean the lead goes straight in , really hard ,, all i can say is thanks and PHEW ,, i might do a vid on how to do this with the rc30 as there is a really good RC30 tuition video ,, i saked them , they said id have to get external extra pedals ( well thats rubbish as your way has worked with my rc30) thanks very much indeed
@@Tonetwisters they're really not that hard to use bro, just keep it simple to start, even just try a 'chukka chukka' palm muting to get a rhythm going. Practice dude!
NO...the FISRT thing you need to know that is that you have to PLUG IT IN TO TURN IT ON. I’ve had so many people call me saying “this thing doesn’t work’. So notice that Output A says “power on” right above it, obvious to anyone who was looking (no one), and especially not if it’s your first pedal or looper. So plug in to Output A to turn it on. Anyway, other than that it’s a great tool, and thanks Reidys for a great job !!! ! At I:35 he mentions this !!!! Woohoooo
For a long time I gave up on the RC-3 .. until you just showed me what I was doing wrong. I was set to overdub mode by default. No wonder it made no sense to me! Manual is crap too. Thanks for this!!
I can’t believe I have been somewhat intimidated by this fine piece of technology. I think I’m finally gonna go get this thing. Thank you for sharing this awesome clip of information!!!!
My band and I found this little pedal so useful that we have a song named after it. (Red Pedal #5). I destroyed it gigging (RC2) so I’m replacing it tomorrow.
I have just got a red fox multi effect pedal like the one you have shown . I cannot get the loop to work although the other three work , I have connected the send and return from the pedal to the studio 100glx amp and the output to the amp from the pedal with no success. Please tell me What am I doing wrong as I want to overdub badly
This video is GOLD. I got a question though: between the loops there is like a three seconds pause, can I get rid of it to have like a non-stop, continuous loop? Thanks a lot guys.
I'm shopping for my first pedal and this pedal seems great but I'm a little worried about the fact you have to double tap to stop. Some pedals have a dedicated stop button is learning to double tap in time as hard as it sounds?
Thanks i have the rc30 with 2 pedals ,, do I do the same with this pedal for record and play , koz press to start but I have to double press not to overdub ,, a right pain
I've owned this pedal for years and only just realized that I wasn't using it to its full potential. Thanks.
Harry Heretic I’ve had one for years and have never been able to use it.
Yep! I'm here cause i don't know how to use my own pedals.

I'm always impressed by people's generosity when they share their knowledge like this. Many thanks.
Loop station rc1
They are advertising
Ask them for one for nothing and see how generous they are.
Thank you very much. Helped me figure it out✌
i asked for 1, they gave me 2 😄
That initial bit changing rD to rP is INVALUABLE! I haven't seen anybody else demonstrate that.
It doesn't work for me

Right on! I just bought this pedal and was immediately overwhelmed by reading the manual. These guys saved me a lot of headache's.
Thank you, this video helped me so much. After I played around with my rc3 I felt such happiness I can barely describe it.
This pedal is by far the favourite and most useful of my collection.

Can I ask what you most use the external pedal for? Is it just convenience (such as avoiding the double tap to stop) or do you gain extra features?

Can I plug my bass as well as my Korg into it at the same time?
Does the loop still play even if i change the loop bank?

No. It will play until the end of the loop then start playing the new loop automatically.
Ok I saved a loop, held write, but how do I play it again? If I go back to track 1 it just overwrites it and start recording again?
