    Does anyone know if there are different routing options for the rhythm? The RC10R had an option for you to route the guitar to one output and the rhythm to the other. I’m really hoping the RC5 can do this too but I can’t find that information anywhere.

    Why does the tempo change by itself without me touching it when a loop or a new layer ends? Example I put my tempo at 85 I make my loop on this same tempo I go in overdub I start a new layer and there when I finish it the tempo changed all alone for example in 87.5 or less or more... I do not understand... is there a setting so that the tempo does not move? An explanation? Maybe an issue with the rc 5 that is not working?

    Big improvement in the sound quality at 32 bit in the 5. Naming the songs, record time, high quality of overdubs, no loss of fidelity. Oh yeah, the screen, very nice and 1shot, which allows you to start and stop a song with one press. Cannot overdub in that mode though so developing a song in a DAW and loading it in the 5 as a 1shot might work.
    Still have not figured out how to record in Reaper and get it into the RC-5. Looks like it might be through the Boss Tone Studio and saved at 32 bit and 44100.
    Any help with that? Maybe a new how to video?

  • @johnpower2018
    @johnpower2018 Před 3 lety +1

    Here is the question I need answered. My trio has been using the Digitech stereo looper and we have created about 50 percussion tracks on that device. I also have these 16 bit 44.1 WAV files backed up on my computer. We have switched to creating percussion loops (usually one measure), in Presonus Studio One 5. I am very dissatisfied with the Digtech software (which has not been updated for years) because it will not recognize the SO loops for transfer to a memory location on the looper. I need to be able to copy these phrases over to the RC-5 and have each one assigned to a specific memory location so if I need a specific loop, say a bossa nova rhythm, I can go to that specific location ex. loop # 15, and activate that loop while we play.
    This is probably not the typical purpose of a looper but it works really well for us. 99 memory locations will give us more space than we need and loop length is not a consideration. We just need to be able to bring up a specific phrase and have it loop as we play. Can that be done with this device thru the USB connection and is there software that comes with the RC-5 that allows that transfer from computer to the device. Thanks.

    Great job Ben. I recently purchased the RC-3 and just purchased the RC-5 a couple of days ago. I'll return one of the units to the music store. Unfortunately the instructions on the RC-5 are really vague; i.e. words on the LED panel are abbreviated and I have no clue what mean. The machine has tons of functions, but the manual has very little instructions on how to actually use these functions. For an example basic functions like, locating the different drum kits and patterns? How are loops saved? I mainly purchased the loopers for the drum functions, yet they are hard to locate.
    I reviewed about 20 CZcams videos for the RC-3 to be able to finally use it, however, the RC-5 is so new and complicated that it might be returned, if I can't figure out how to use it.
    Any assistance you can give on the actual use of the RC-5 would be most appreciated. I tried to contact the Boss support team but apparently they are shut down due to the Covid virus.
    Thanks!

    The RC-500 has a Micro-USB Port. Most likely the performance of the port is still identical. I would actually prefer a Type B port over Micro-USB. It tends to be more mechanically robust than Micro-USB. But I also would prefer Type C over B because it's also more robust and is more convenient due to being far less obscure.

    The USB type B usage is to do with power input restriction. It's the USB format that's strictly for data transfer with no charging capability.
    So it's being used because USB C would require a built in battery (when this uses replaceable 9v instead) or no in-built battery and a strictly mains supply system (a studio/ desktop setup that wouldn't be portable)
    In this instance, blame USB protocol rather than Boss being cheap. (If USB C + an in-built rechargeable battery were used, we'd get convenience but at the cost of longevity since those batteries degrade severely within a couple of years and customers would have a bricked pedal or a DIY tech repair mission including a hunt for obscure Chinese cells + connectors).
