New wave broke big in 1978, the year I turned 15 and the Police released their first album, and while it may not be everyone’s taste, to 57-year-old me it’s still the greatest music ever. In a 1986 interview with Modern Drummer, Peart listed Copeland as one of the top 12 drummers who inspired and influenced him. You can see Copeland's reggae, ska and punk influences begin to creep into "Moving Pictures" and even more so on "Grace Under Pressure" and "Power Windows". And BTW - the little ditty at the end of the song "Do I have to tell the story of a thousand rainy days since we first met, It was a big enough umbrella, but it was always me that ends up getting wet" shows up in at least two other songs: "O My God" by The Police and "Seven Days" by Sting.
