  • New Delhi, India - Join us as we embark on our first metro train experience in Delhi! It was a little stressful in the beginning but ended up working itself out and we even got an unexpected surprise from a friendly local that made the experience worth it. Upon arriving at our destination we found some tasty street snacks and washed it down with a Depaul’s coffee.

Yes, you can buy tickets for any metro station, now matter how many metro you are changing. While buying the tickets just tell your destination station at ticket counter. They will give you the appropriate ticket. That will cost less as well.

The stations are not usually so busy. The station Chattarpur has a famous temple and it's Navratri festival going in India so people visit temple a lot during the festival. I have seen you negotiating with Tuk Tuk drivers about pricing so just buy 2 metro passes +10% discount for using card. You can return and get refunded for metro passes once you leave Delhi.

if you guys want to travel from delhi metro again than you didnt need to purchase a second ticket/token. for example, if you pick metro from karol bagh(blue line) and want to go new delhi metro station so you just have to look at the map and see the route and purchase direct token/ticket for new delhi, you will find you have intersection of blue line and yellow line(where you will find metro for new delhi metro) at rajiv chowk. so you have to out for rajiv chowk and can ask officials for interchange for yellow lines means there is different section where yellow line metros are crossings. you dont need to exit first from rajiv chowk and than purchase token for new delhi.
and one simple thing is you can first ask to metro official for your desired station where you want to go and can ask the route or interchange/intersection.

    1. Great video of your first Delhi Metro ride
    2. For your query, you can ask anything on the Customer Care booth from the executive posted there. These booths are on every station right besides the Entry/Exit AFC Gates. Since the ticket counter guy is too busy to be answering questions.
    3. To expand upon your query: You don't need to buy separate tickets for different lines. You simply buy a through ticket at your Starting Station A to your Destination Station B (on any line across the whole DMRC network) and then you can switch between different lines at the respective interchange stations well within the system without having to check-out and check back in at the AFC gates of the interchange/transfer station, like from exit platform on your initial line to the platform on the other line for boarding train to your destination station or the next interchange station (if your journey involves more than 1 interchanges/transfers/switchovers).
    4. Tip for future : You can always buy your ₹200/- Smart Cards at the same Customer Care Booths mentioned in Point# 1 for a seamless hassle free travel and avoiding the crowded ticket lines while you are in the city. And once you are leaving the city, you can return the Smart Card(s) and get refunded of any leftover balance when you make the last exit on your final trip in the DMRC network.
    Thanks
    Namaste 🙏

I see some Indonesians writing negative things about India so im going to copy paste my reply for them.
I think your view of India is restricted to some parts of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Remember that India is much bigger and has a lot of things that Indonesia doesnt have. For one, India has 15 cities with metro systems. Yes, 15 separate cities with metros. Indonesia only has 1 in Jakarta, and the system in smaller than 12 of India's 15.
India has oceans on 3 sides, and hence many beaches. Thar Desert at the border with Pakistan, the desert cities are tourist attractions with many ancient forts, temples and palaces. Then there are religious cities like Amritsar (for Sikhs the Golden Temple), Varanasi, Ujjain, Rameshwaram and Rishikesh (for Hindus), Patna, Bodh Gaya, Kushinagara and Dharamshala (for Buddhists). In these cities you can experience a more spiritual side of India. Only in Varanasi I can think of crowded and chaotic somewhat. And then there are backwaters and lush green hills along the west coast for hiking and jungle trekking. For those who dont like the heat, they can visit the Himalayan regions (Uttarakhand, Himachal, Kashmir, Ladakh, Sikkim and Arunachal states) as well as the nature centric Northeastern region, where tribes live along with nature. There are snow capped mountain ranges and National parks where one can see the many iconic animals in India, such as elephants, tigers, Asiatic lions (live only in India), peacocks, rhinos, river dolphins and many more.
Again, your view of India is skewed and biased. Hope you fix your view. If you are not one of the Indonesians talking trash in the comments im sorry, this was meant for your countrymen who are doing that in the comments. Indonesia is undoubtedly a beautiful country in its own right.

Welcome to the capital. Here Delhites love the guest and give warm welcome to them. Like the guy who gave his tickets to both of you. Thanks for appreciating him. But, most people don't because people don't trust us delhites. It's true some people are bad but can't blame everyone for that. Have a nice day:).

9:16 It's not actually "a lot of the time here", but they just separated you at the security check because they were gonna pat you down / frisk you, although it was just a metal detector frisk, but still, the ladies' queue will obviously have a female security officer/ cop.

wala doesn't mean seller, you can think of it as "someone/something who". It generally depicts relation. Like "Khaaney waala", khaaney means "to eat", so combining it with "waaley" will mean "someone who is related to eating/food", depending on context, it can mean, food seller, or food eater. Most of the shop add "wala"("wale" for plural) at the end to depict their place of origin, like "chandni chowk waale" means "someone from/related to chandni chowk". Here "Pappu Singh Kachori wala" will mean "Pappu singh who sells Kachori" or "Pappu singh kachori seller"

5:54 you will see security checks like that while entering into a crowded places in India, thanks to our "friendly" neighbor Pakistan. You guys probably aren't aware, but we have been under attack for decades, on multiple occasions, where hundreds and thousands of people were killed, buildings, trainlines, hotels and even our parliament were attacked with guns and bombs, by "friends" sent to Indian soil from our neighbor. So, we take security pretty seriously now, it may feel like inconvenience at first, but you get habituated to it pretty fast. Better safe than getting slightly inconvenienced. While the western countries invade the source of origin countries(Iraq, Afghanisthan) even after a single terrorist attack, we Indians still keep diplomatic relation with Pakistan, welcome their players with warmth, treat every patients that come from Pakistan to India for treatment, run pilgrimage services for the Pakistani pilgrims, run regular joint border ceremonies everyday while occasionally taking in ethnic minorities that get persecuted in Pakistan...and still kind of treat them like a long lost brother, who got misguided and bitter with us.

Thank you for sharing all of that! We actually don’t mind. We feel like it’s better safe than sorry as well. We can’t begin to understand the underlying history between India and Pakistan because I’m sure there is a lot that the media does and didn’t show. It’s always great to be informed though so we appreciate this.

India isnt USA and Pakistan isnt Afghanistan
Pakistan is a nuclear armed country with 6th largest military, we cant just invade them unprovoked.
Also Iraqis and Afghanis didnt cause 9/11, Saudis did. USA didnt invade Saudi Arabia coz they r allies. Similarly Pakistani terrorists & LeT use American weapons in India. Gives u a hint on who is actually funding them.
