Why nobody wanted us to visit China...🇨🇳 (FIRST TIME IN CHINA!)

- Our first time in China!
We were anxious and nervous to arrive to Shanghai, China on a 144-HR visa free transit because we heard that if we have stamps from certain countries, we may get rejected and denied entry.
This exemption would allow us to stay in China within 144-hr or 6 days.
It had been our long-time dream to travel China, so we were hoping we could visit the country.
With the policy, we were only allowed to explore Shanghai.
Because of covid and western medias, many people told us not to visit China.
But China was not what we expected. China surprised us!
Is China dangerous? Is China safe? What's China really like? Check out our vlog!

Your video is going to be banded. Americans is not suppose to know how great other countries are!
By reading through the policy details, looks like you can travel freely within the city of Shanghai and provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang, not sure if you can go to Beijing, as it belongs to another visa-free region (the 京津冀 region). But you certainly are not restricted to Shanghai only...
answer from AI: Under the 144-hour visa-free transit policy in China, travelers are generally limited to staying within the specific region where they entered. For example, if a traveler enters China through Shanghai, they are allowed to move within the Shanghai municipality, Jiangsu Province, and Zhejiang Province. Similarly, if they enter through Beijing, they can travel within the Beijing municipality, Tianjin municipality, and Hebei Province.
However, travelers are not permitted to travel freely throughout all of China under this policy. The purpose of the 144-hour visa-free transit is to facilitate short-term stays for transit purposes in the specific region of entry.

China has alot to offer as a travel destination. It is unfortunate many people are easily swayed by negative western media (due to political and economic reasons). Many have not even travelled out of their own state/province/country at all and thus have to depend on the biased nature of the media. Go see for yourselves if you are financially able to do so.
Dude there’s literally countless horror stories of foreigners going missing in the Chinese prison system and being locked up for arbitrary reasons with steep penalties there’s a reason people don’t go

I go to China every year. Chinese cities are very safe, both during the day and even more so at night. China's culture is also very diverse, and so is its food. It’s not like talking about Chinese people as promoted by European and American media.
Agree 💯, so safe day and night. China is amazing.

It is true that electronic payment is now in China, if you want to travel to China, it is recommended to do a serious guide. Of course, cash is fine, but it's a little more cumbersome
But that's the fun of traveling isn't it? Just come and see!
Relax, it's much easier than finding airport buses in the United States :D
国外人来中国肯定没有中国人方便的,我们的手机可以说是全能的,身份证,旅游门票,各种交通的票据都有电子版
Traveling to China for foreigners is definitely not as convenient as for locals. Our mobile phones have quite complete functions, including electronic versions of ID cards, travel tickets, and various transportation receipts. Translated from @user-eg5zc3pk1u
A little travel advice, If you're interested in seeing the chinese advancements and history:
If you want to explore the 3000 years of history, go to Xi'an.
If you want to explore the 1000 years of history, go to Beijing.
If you want to explore the last 100 years of China going from colonization to modernization, go to Shanghai.
If you want to see modern blade-runner-like infrastructure and seemingly impossible urban planning done in the last 40 years, go to Chongqin.
If you want to see the future, go to Shenzhen.
That's a very very rough and overall thing to say, and If we add the different landscapes and biomes that China offers, there would be no end to the list.
And what's the best thing of all of that? That the whole China has first class safety no matter where you go, so there's nothing like "being in the wrong place at the wrong time" kind of bs, and you are able to freely explore.
great advice! Thanks so much!

It is great that bloggers can give an objective and authentic experience of coming to China.
This is literally the first video I have watched about China. After watching this one and your "Uptown" video in Manila, I am feeling a little bit torn. I plan to retire to Asia and do a good bit of traveling within the region. These very upscale areas look incredible. They are not the typical neighborhoods or cities that represent the country as a whole. They are very modern, clean, and tourist attractions. You have to travel outside these areas to see the "real country" you are visiting. But it makes me "torn" because these areas look amazing! Makes me wonder if I want to pay more and live in the tourist area or get a place out in the burbs where life is more similar to the locals and a little more affordable. Thanks for the peek into China, I hadn't really considered it as a travel destination before, but I do now. It looks like a good time, good food, good shopping, and a good experience.
Welcome
Welcome! And we are building our country to a better one, hoping offering the world a better China!
You need more videos about China, so you will find a new world.
I’m a Chinese who live in Manila, China is much more modern and high tech, in Manila only uptown area is good, also I live here. But I recommend u choose Manila, coz here is an English country, u can easily communicate with other people. If u live in China, u can’t read Chinese, everything is difficult.😢
Btw, HongKong is a great city for living, also international environment good for expat, but quite expensive for live cost. If u rich enough, Hong Kong is the best choice.
I like your vibes. So genuine and open-minded.

Those food vendors must have been expecting her to speak to them in Mandarin and must have been caught offguard when she couldn't speak the language or read the menu. I was also wondering why she didn't try to speak in Mandarin, but when you said she's Indonesian Chinese, then I understood why. In China, everything is in Chinese characters, and Shanghai has its own unique dialects too, depending on which part of the province you're from. Like Suzhou is an hour's drive from Shanghai, but has a different dialect from Shanghai. Still, if you can speak or read mandarin, you might be able to get by. You'd need to have a pretty good grasp of the language though to communicate more effectively, 'cos in China, it tends to be ALL mandarin and you can't even mix in any English words the way we might do in Singapore. In fact, Chinese people who come to Singapore are probably quite shocked at how we mix English and Mandarin when we say that we are speaking in Mandarin. To them, it's Singapore-style Mandarin. Also, there are words for the same things that are different. It's just like how American English is different from British English, even though it's the same language. You have different English words for the same things. Like tap and faucet, sink and basin, color and colour, lift and elevator, flat and apartment... well, you get the idea. So Chinese people can tell if you are from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore or Mainland China, based on the Mandarin words you use and how you speak it.
Ahh, I was wondering why she didn't speak Chinese lol it makes sense that she's indo Chinese. They massacred Chinese people by the masses and people were forced not to learn their mother tongue anymore unlike Malaysian Chinese. In China, there are also regional dialects but mandarin is the unifying common tongue
Please use Mainland instead of China when Hong Kong and Taiwan appear together. Thank you.

Let me correct you. The 144-hour visa is not limited to Shanghai travel. It can be used to travel to any other city in China. As long as you can enter the country smoothly, there are no travel restrictions. It just tells you that you can only stay in China for a period of 144 hours and then you have to leave the country. When staying in a hotel, no one will look at your visa. You just need to go through a check-in process. Even Chinese people who stay in a hotel need to register with their ID card. It is just a formality to check and prevent wanted criminals from entering the hotel.
@emgoodit Go to any normal hotel in the world, you have to check in with an ID. A love hotel on the other hand...lol
according to rules, you can only stay in shanghai, you are not permitted to travel to other cities.. but yea, i don't think anyone would've cared if you travelled around china, as long as you leave from shaghai within 144 hours
Aber wenn du mit äuslandisches Pass nach Tibet gehen möchtest, brauchst du nur einen chinesischen Reiseführer zu suchen, dann darfst du es tun. @@user-nu7lc4xh2p
It's not "any other city". Currently there are 20 cities for 144 hours transfer visa and 52 cities for 72 hours. And once you entered one of the cities, you are usually only allowed to tour within one province, although for Shanghai you are allowed to tour within the two nearby provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu, for Beijing you are allowed to tour within Tianjing and Hebei.
No. In the hotel system, the receptionist has to input the visa number too.
In China, not all folks wearing uniform are police. A lot of them are private security guards for shops. The uniform is similar to police.

Great video. I'm a British expat living in Shanghai since 2005, so it was interesting to see Shanghai through a fresh pair of eyes. McDonald's prices are the same ordering from the machines or the counter. If there's a price difference it is probably NOT the same coffee. "Natie" is simply the Chinese translation of Latte, but I think you may have ordered from the McCafe menu which is more expensive than the McDonald's menu (and slightly better quality). The noodle you chose was braised soy sauce beef soup noodles, but the restaurant itself is Chongqing style, which is a city in the south west of China where most of the dishes are spicy.
It's obvious that you know the menu absolutely.
yeah you‘ve been living here for so long so you know hahaha,as a Chinese myself i time to time got confused about menu

What you see is what the Chinese dictator wants you to see. I hope it will take your brain. You like China so much. Brother, I wish you to become Chinese and never leave. Do you need my help? Foreigners who want to be controlled by dictators are completely beyond my understanding.

Littering is not the business of cameras. The main purpose of cameras is to protect the safety of passers-by, especially at popular attractions. Once anything happens, the suspect can be quickly tracked. So, security increases due to these cameras.

really enjoyed the video
I went to the same MD in this vidoe as well when I worked in Shanghai, which costed me less than 30CND to get a morning chicken burger, a mash potato and an americano coffee (about 6CAD in total). Making a combo is always a good choice!
What a great video, you both should spend more trips to China and make more videos like this!! 👍👍
There is a trending food theme called MALA, literally translating to numb and spicy. So the braised beef noodles you guys had is probably that, with the spice toned down as per your request, but the numb still retained, and is due to the Sichuan peppercorns
didn’t know Chinese food could be spicy!
@@JetLagWarriors The noodle restaurant you are eating comes from Chongqing, a city far from Shanghai, with 30 million people. The food there is mainly spicy and spicy.Chinese cuisine varies greatly in terms of regional flavor, with a total of 8 different cuisines, each with thousands of dishes~
@@JetLagWarriors If you only eat noodles, I guarantee you won't repeat it for a year😀

Some Western media are vilifying China. In reality, Chinese people are very friendly, and only those who have been here can truly feel it. Thank you for your video, it was brilliant.
Ah, I caught your trick. You pivoted from "vilifying China" (in reality, it's vilifying the _government_ of China), to Chinese people. The people and the government are two different things. Almost everybody in the west loves Chinese people, it's only the government that many people have an issue with. Online, the trolls like to pretend that criticizing the government is the same thing as criticizing the people. It's not the same thing at all. Nice try.
@@idogtv I don't think white ppl differentiate the two. CHina means much more than what its gov says or does. But you always burry the difference. Nice try.
@@idogtv The more you pretend to "correctly" legitimize an entire narrative against the label "China" (instead of the CURRENT gov), the more likely Chinese people become the victims of collateral damage. The entire narrative gives people a feeling like Chinese people are culturally subordinate, less enlightened, easy to be manipulated, and are all like trolls. In fact, this is a population of 1.4 billion... 99% of white people can't even name a third Chinese city except for BJ and SH... how can you come to the conclusion that "everybody in the west loves Chinese people"... there is a giant leap of logic. ...
@@tuckerwang7677 "China means much more than what its gov says or does." Yeah, that's literally what I said. Did you not understand me? That's my whole point. That's why it's absolutely idiotic for the trolls to bury the difference between China and the government. That's what _I_ said. You just took what I said, reworded it, claimed that you "don't think white ppl differentiate the two" and then acted as if I somehow equated the government with the people of China... That's the exact _opposite_ of what I did in my comment. The trolls are the ones who pretend they're the same. Why did you pretend like my comment didn't differentiate the two, when it clearly did? It seems like you're responding to a completely different comment. You certainly didn't respond to _my_ comment. Because what you said makes absolutely no sense as a response to what I said. Nice try.
@@idogtvI understand what you're saying, but the sad fact is that our mainstream media and our politicians have so many Americans convinced that China itself is simply an evil nation, with little or no differentiating between the people and the government. As bad as the Chinese government might be, they do not in any way pose a military threat to us or to anyone. But our politicians seem to be chomping at the bit to go to war with China. Neither China nor Russia comes close to the American Empire for the number of innocent people killed over the past 30 years. America is the most violent, warmongering, arrogant nation on earth.
The noodles you had is called “Chongqing xiao mian” which is a specialty of Chongqing. The reason why your tongue and face was numb is due to the Sichuan peppercorns used in the cuisine of that area. Glad that you enjoyed your trip in China! I’m also a Chinese Indonesian like Ivana and went to Shanghai for the first time last month. Watching the video made me miss my time there and would love to revisit soon.
