Visit Turku. You had been at Helsinki and Tampere. If you visit Turku you should test PIISPANMUNKKI aka. Piispis...and you should ask for it by this sentence:"pist pari piispist". If you buy piispis offcourse you don't buy it from sale (you probably allready know the store)...but from market hall. I know market halls are bit also tourist traps...but atleast when it comes to Piispis...it's a must. You should also walk Aura river side, visit atleast Turunlinna and ship museum.

u cannot rly do mead/ sima without any alcohol in it. There is some non-alcoholic products but those are more just soda than mead. Super easy to do at home too.

Sima is essentially mead, e.g. a very old method of making a fermented drink. There is sima for sale that has some alcohol (like, maybe less than 1%), and if it was allowed to ferment longer, it would become a proper alcoholic beverage.

The type of sauna doesn't effect how fast water evaporates. Heat is heat, regardless wether it comes from electricity, or burning wood. What DOES matter for how the water evaporates are the type of stones you use. A highly porous stone provides softer löyly, a smooth stone evaporates the water faster and makes for a harsher löyly. Firewood / electric sauna does make a difference, just not in how water evaporates.

We Finns love foreign people enjoying our country. And i think i speak for everyone in Finland that we think Canadians as our fellow people since alot of of Finns immigrated into Canada. Just returned from China myself. We downloaded Ali Pay before we left and tied to our US CC. It was a lifesaver for us as you said cash is not welcome there. WeChat pay is more popular there, but it didn’t allow us to use foreign CC at the time, although I heard that’s changing soon. Our T-Mobile works fine in China and can access CZcams/gmail etc, just at slower speed. Peppercorn is an acquired taste. People who are used to it love it (like me). Overall your videos are very objective and enjoyable. Great job

The one thing that makes you both very likeable is your diplomatic tongue, very respectful. Also, seeing you just trying finnish things without much reluctance is suprising (plus admirable). :) Just wait when you get to experience Lapland in winter and in summer one day, you won't regret it, it's magical even for us finns. Finnish sauna is not extreme. It's the golden standard what all the other saunas are judged by.

Well I did drink up to 9% alcoholic sima my friend had made and it was really good as well. The alcoholic content can be anywhere from 0% up to a strong wine. Glad you had a good time spending Vappu in Tampere!

For sure that was a very typical finnish experience. Janne seems like a very regular Finn, i can just tell. His place is close to nature, lake and birches, classic Finland. Sauna and swimming, the hot and cold relaxation treatment, even with makkara on the kiuas... Can someone think of something more finnish?

I didn't know anyone called it mayday. Been only ever calling it Vappu and I hear some people celebrate it but never known anyone who does or has.

During the era of industrialism in the 18th and 19th century it was common for working class to protest against the often oppressing work conditions of the time, the most famous subject of protesting was to be able to work a full 8 hours a day. The protestors would march in the streets and sing protest songs. Vappu, known also as a working class celebration, is not only a celebration for students but also, and in my opinion most of all, a day to comemorate these values of the working class and to remind ourself how important it is to stick up to not only yourself and your rights but also in a bigger picture the rights of everyone. So what a great reason it is to get drunk and have yourself a little bit of that rebel mentality 😄

As a Finn I lose all respect towards a person that litters and I'd like to think that that's the case for most of my countrymen. Our appreciation for nature and cleanliness keeps most people in check which is something I absolutely love and want to preserve.
