- We went to another match of Djurgården vs. Mora in Hovet Arena, Stockholm.
This time, we opt for the VIP experience which was not worth it at all!!
Is this the worst hockey arena in Sweden?

JetLagWarriors is a Canadian couple -- Steve and Ivana. After travelling here and there for a few years, mostly during Canadian winter, we fully caught the travel bug and decided to travel INDEFINITELY! Subscribe to keep up with our journey. Thanks!
TIMESTAMPS:
00:00 - Hovet Arena VIP experience is... BAD?
2:03 - Wishing we were in the cheaper & better seats in the crowd
3:42 - HIGHLIGHT: Mora evens the scoring 1-1
4:54 - In Canada, I would just go sit in the arena, but a a tourist...
5:32 - Djurgarden powerplay is pretty sloppy
6:55 - DISASTER: Fluky own-goal breaks the tie. Mora's up 2-1
9:18 - This is my fault!! VIP could be a good experience, but not for us
Saying that it was your own fault that the VIP seats were horrible might be the most Canadian thing ever.
More common factors with us finns.
VIP = Very Irritating Pillar
hahahahahahhaha
😂
😅
Good one!
This is a very old arena from 1955, rebuilt in 1962, so it doesn't exactly give the best experience. I believe this is THE oldest currently used hockey arena in the whole country.
Our oldest arena in Finland is Hakametsä, Tampere. Build in 1965. Before then we playing outside 😂. Sweden have been always a rich country.
@@Lumperi65Nowadays Finland is so much better, Sweden is like a third world country compared to Finland. I could easily move over to Finland instead
that sucks so bad, spending more money on a way worse experience must feel terrible
Yeah, total bummer! But meh, now we know for next time :)
@@JetLagWarriors It´s VIP because you can drink beer during the game. Most other arenas have much better VIPs.
I've been in the VIP section once. With enough beer in the alcohol system, you can see around the pillar!
You have your own alcohol system? Goddamn🙃
@@jarmopaakkonen2045 Probaply finnish parents or distillery/brewery owner...
And no Esa Tikkanen!!! I mean, Mats Sundin... Frankly, terrible.
paying more just to stand and having a pole infront of you!? I would rather be in the very top of the stadium than there. Thats a bummer
Yeah, a bummer but, sort of our fault. We didn't realize how crowded the VIP area would be, and so despite the fact that we arrived 1 hour early, when the VIP was nearly empty, we still got the worst area to stand. DUH! It was our first time, and our mistake
Hovets hylla is more a space for associates, partners and relatives of players to grab a bite, move around and chitchat. I’ve been there a few times and the view isn’t premium at all but that’s not their main objective. Also, these security guards rarely check your tickets upon entrance, especially during intermission. I’ve jumped seats a bunch of times both on Hovet and Globen. At worst they’d advice you to move back.
I only been on concert in Hovet the game should played in Globen bigger Arena.
Never seen anything like that. For example if you buy tickets in the restaurant in "my" arena you get a seat as well, or a table with a good view.
Thats pretty weird VIP area... hmm..
Do you Come to finland again when the finals begin
Yes! We will miss the first game, or maybe 2, of the finals though- because there is a derby here in Stockholm in football. Djurgarden vs AIK on April 21. So, we will fly back to Finland on the 22 !
@@JetLagWarriors Don't fly take the party boat to Turku, the views on the archipelago are amazing the whole way through
@@irou95 they already took it from finland to sweden
"Come on I want overtime! I paid a million bucks for these terrible seats!"😂😂 I can so relate based on some games I´ve been to! Just because some seats are sold as "VIP" doesn´t mean that they are going to live up to the price😏
You have to go see Djurgården on monday against Häcken!
That will surely be a good experience!
They will be there. Heja Häcken!
Its when everyone gets to be a VIP then the normal starts to look better 😅
VIP is not really a thing here. I’ve been a fan of my club for some 25 years now and have never been in the VIP box at football or hockey. Having said that, the VIP experience would be much better at the football simply because the stadium is a lot more modern. Hovet was built in 1955 and will be demolished soon and the Globe next to it will be modernised and used for our hockey team in the future.
As for the game. Embarassingly shitty. We’re fuming. An absolute joke of a performance. Shameful even.
The VIP-seats in Hovet are terrible. Although the arena is from the early 60's. It got a roof at 1970 and has been done very little to it since then. Its the far oldest hockeyarena in Sweden. From autumn 2025 both Djurgården and AIK will move in to the renovated Globe Arena (Avicii Arena but all in Stockholm says Globen) and this arena Hovet will be demolished.
A real pillar of strength.....😂😂
Come back to Finland!!! 😊
Our plan was to come back for the Liiga Finals BUT we have a small hiccup in our plans. So: there is a football derby here in Stockholm on the 21st. We really want to see that-- everyone is recommending it to us. Meaning we won't be arriving back in Finland until the 22nd- therefore missing the first game of the finals. It's a bit of a bummer, but we're hoping the finals goes to 7 games so we can still see 6 of them!
@@JetLagWarriors You saw what the weather is like. Take your time, it gets good after may, but April is not really amazing at all.
@@JetLagWarriors There's also a brand new football stadium in Tampere if you return here and the season just started yesterday. The crowds are smaller than in Sweden but the facilities are great now.
never have i heard of a "VIP" experience like this. In Finland its usually a private "booth" where you can watch the game with a bigger group of friends or family. Most even include food and some drinks. Very strange. How isnt the amount of people regulated to the amount of seats? To me this just seems like a "drinking zone" not really a VIP section, Crazy if they make you pay extra for that.
Also dont worry you can change the seats, its not technically allowed but if someone says its their seat just move out, they wont throw you out unless your on some "special seats" that cost crazy money. We used to do this as kids where we would buy a standing ticket and go into empty seats.
It's because the arena is old af. Hovet will be demolished soon, the VIP experience is not like this in other Swedish arenas
Yeah, I think you're right. This is more of a drinking zone, than a VIP experience. But for 90 USD per ticket, I think a better drinking experience would just be at a local bar with a big screen lol. All good. It's my mistake, and now we know for next time :)
@@margyla3577 Yeah but seems more like an organisation problem than an arena problem to me. They definetly could organize that section way better 100%.
Well, that is just one arena in Sweden. Im sure Globen for example has a top notch VIP section.
It wasn't your fault, you could not now how the view is from the VIP-area. So next time you will set for the 3,5% beer in exchange for a cheaper ticket and better seat for a much better view and experience. ;)
As others have pointed out, Hovet is really old. They're refurbishing the main hockey arena Globen, which is right next to Hovet.
Hovet is a very old arena and VIP wasnt really a thing on those days. Hovet has a good atmosphere but the facilities are a joke. There are so many better hockey arenas in sweden and also much better hockey then the 2nd division its like comparing a AHL game to a NHL... If you get tickets I would go to Gothenburg and watch a Semi final in SHL between Frölunda and Skellefteå...
Yes, we have 2x tickets to Frolunda vs Skelleftea-- a lot of people recommended this so we will go to Gothenburg next!
@JetLagWarriors nice! Gothenburg is both cheaper and friendlier then Stockholm you will like it. And the Hockey is better in SHL. Have a nice stay on the front side of sweden!
Well life goes on! And try to study swedish hall seats if regular in Göteborg beats the VIP. Stay healthy!
If the seats are truly empty you can just go sit there and no one would bother you. Just make sure they are not just late or in the toilet :) I've done it several times.
Dang, I was gonna do this. In Canada, I would've done it. But the last thing I want is to be in trouble in another country. Maybe I overthought it lol
@@JetLagWarriors Just use the old "oh sorry pal, im from Canada"
So you see, everything is better in Finland😉
Haha 😂 nope Globen is better arena then Hovet but i think AIK playing there.
Jyväskylän jäähalli. Tarviiko muuta sanoa.
@@aapoheikkila5542 Probably the most horrible barn arena in the whole Finnish Liiga. :D
this is not even the SHL...
@@timlarsson3634 I know.
When AIK play their homegames there is always a seat in the stand included for VIP guests. So you can watch the match from there and and use the VIP section before, during intermissions and after the game. So choose AIK next time.
vip in swedish hockey is not for ''normal'' people, more like buissenes men or sponsors to the teams.
1:32 good choice of beer, my friend! Mariestad is where it's at, the beer pumping heart of Västergötland.
This Hovet arena is when it comes to seating and arena layout is the worst in Sweden because I know I used to work for this arena complex and it's too bad you never had a chance to see the Avicii arena which is NHL standard when it comes to arenas , but trust me Gothenburg have an old arena but it's very nice and the city is great so have fun looking forward to see the next video.
It’s a game in the second division. You should have gone to see a SHL game(the first division) Stockholm doesn’t have a team in the first division.
That was very big suprice for me
They are going to Göteborg next and watch Frölunda - Aik
As a Lakers fan we have regular seats and stands in one layer and 2 VIP levels at the top
You should see a bunch of goals and such from Friday! When then semi final
Damn, that's one sucky VIP section.. Well, the arena is more than 60 years old, so what can you do? They are gonna tear it down soon, unfortunately.
You should've been in Karlskoga this evening. Holy hell, what a game between BIK Karlskoga and Brynäs!
Hovet is old and has never been a place for VIP.
Last time I came this early I became a father
U never ever got laid.
I am here from your video from the Emergency in Georgia. Did you just leave the hospital and took some painkillers? How is your back now? Hope you're fine. Such a pity experience
No painkillers, just rest. It is now around 1 month later, and still not perfect. The first 5 days it improved every day, and since then I've been stuck at 95% or so. It's bothersome but I can move around and walk, so that's a huge improvement.
Djurgården’s fans are great! You should come down to Ängelholm to experience a semi final. Great atmosphere too!
Will you go to Djurgårdens home opener in football on monday?
Yes!! We will be there. And then off to Gothenburg for Froulunda HC (twice!) and then back to Stockholm for Djurgarden FC vs AIK! We are excited for that
@@JetLagWarriors Awsome!
Oh dudes, such crappy seats :o Come back to Tampere ;)
This is the 2nd division...
@@TzOn79 The seats being crapy doesnt have anything to do with that, no?
Are you guys coming back to Stockholm again after Gothenburg?
Yes! We managed to get tickets for Djurgarden FC and AIK on April 21. We thought they were sold out, but we found another site that had some left. We are excited for that one :)
Cool! I read below that you are watching our game on Monday against Häcken as well at Tele2, is that correct?
@@Rinnmeister Yep!
Happens often in swedens even the saunas dont work right.
Hahahaha 😆 😂
I am curious: does Ivana truly enjoy hockey as much as you, Steve? 😄
I doubt it
Go to a shl game of you have the opportunity, right now the semifinals start and then just the final. There is a difference between allsvenskan and shl
VIP seats are for the sponsor companies who come to grap couple of beers and talk bs with friends.
That old arena was made 1955. You can’t expect too much of that.
I like to hear the Candian experience
I think we will try and do a Maple Leafs vlog, one day. We've never thought about making hockey vlogs until we arrived in Finland a few weeks ago. The Leafs arena is a bit of a library. Not too loud, very expensive... it's not great, but maybe we it will be interesting for people to see.
@@JetLagWarriorsAfter watching a lot of different NHL vlogs I feel like 3 best arenas to watch hockey are no surprisingly Bell Centre in Montreal, MSG in New York and Las Vegas arena.
@@aapoheikkila5542 Atleast MSG is quite rudimentary. It feels really old but it has the charm of old Hockey atmosphere. The hallways are quite crowdy and narrow, its nothing like the new highend arenas.
@@AndyGrouch It does look really great arena. Would love to go watch a game there one day. But pretty much all arenas in NHL seem great. Well most of them. Arizona, San Jose, Anaheim seem kind of boring. I feel like that would be different case if Sharks, Ducks and Coyotes would actually be good.
@@aapoheikkila5542 For myself, I went to MSG last year to watch my first NHL game. It was quite interesting experience as a nordic hockey fan. They people seem not to care about the sport at all, it was just about the show, drinking and eating. They didn't care what was the score or how was the game going for the home team. They were there just to have fun. It was quite strange to see as a European Hockey fan, because here we are really into the game, not the show around it all.
I don’t know what’s happening usually we play good but now we play awful for some reason
Hovet is an old arena. The Globe, the much larger and newer, was Djurgården's arena before they were relegated. Malmö Arena, Färjestad's, HV71's, are much better and newer
Mats Sundin at the game today 10th of April 👍
Its all good!!! Keep safe, healthy and happy.
Swedish alcohol policy is even bigger joke than finnish policy. At least you can get a decent beer in finnish grocery stores. In Sweden 3,5%. 😀
And swedes are not raveing drunks as fins...
But in Sweden you can buy beer from fuel stations after 21.00
Pretty good noise over there. What do you think of swedish fans?
The fans were great! We have another video, from the proper seats in the arena, where we were very impressed: czcams.com/video/4DKoMVxo6lA/video.html&ab_channel=JetLagWarriors
@JetLagWarriors You should go to a SHL match instead. This is second league in Sweden...
What Finnish Liiga fans should learn from the Swedish Elite serie fans culture? & vice versa.
I go to watch Oulu Kärpät in Finland & Luleå Hockey in Sweden when living in the border.
When you are in Stockholm or Gothenburg you should consider going to a football match and not just hockey, Sweden has a very big supporter culture around football as well so maybe interesting to compare the experiences.
Yes! We have been listening to the comments. So far, we've book Djurgarden bs Hacken football, which will be the first home game for Djurgarden FC. Also we've booked 2x games on Frolunda HC. And then back to Stockholm for Djurgarden vs AIK football, which is a derby! The comments told us of these events
@@JetLagWarriorsI'll be at the Frölunda game next friday so I'll keep an eye out for you guys! The Stockholm Derby tho will probably be the best experience tho people go nuts at those.
Tough break....not the first guy to score on his own net..
Yeah, especially right at the end of the game like that. Tough break is right
Today Djurgården win away against Mora with 6-5 and have now 2-1 leads in games to Djurgården. 😎✌️
Next game on Monday in Mora
Forza DIF 💛❤️💙
This is an old arena. But the ”globe” golfboll arena is great! It lies next to Hovet. Btw they are planning on tearing Hovet down.
I actually enjoyed the video from the first gam a lot, compared to other “game day exp.” channels it was good. However idk if someone else already said it, Im sure someone did but maybe don’t go to the Djurgården games wearing a massive green jacket. It’s our second largest rivals colour… (they let their ice hockey section die, but that doesn’t matter) Obviously no one would ever bother you about it as long as you don’t do anything stupid but it really stands out.. looking forward to all the comments saying it shouldn’t be a big deal or whatever.. 3-1 series turning back to sthlm..
Hey if you're still in Sweden and have time you should attend a swedish football game in Stockholm, the fan experience won't disappoint you
Thanks for this! We will be at Djurgarden FC vs Hacken AND! we managed to get tickets to Djurgarden vs AIK on April 21. Our seats are not great for the derby, but we have heard it is gonna be wild there!
@@JetLagWarriorsBefore the game, if you want to get a good feel for the support experience, head into "Slaktbaren". There you will find Ultras warming up before the game! 💛❤️💙
@@JetLagWarriors Haha DIF v AIK certainly wont disappoint, there is usually a march before the game with a lot of singing and flares - pick a team and attend it, it wont be anything like NA sports ;)
Shitty vip 😂 Ai caramba❤
I think Mora is better team! But I am just finnish granny...
Come watch Swiss games, SC Bern. HC Ambri Piotta, SC Fribourg, ZSC Lions. Best hockey in Europe and very loud fan bases.
I would argue that Sweden got best hockey in Europe. Teams like Frölunda, Luleå HF, Växjö etc. But Switzerland got best fans and second best hockey in Europe.
@@aapoheikkila5542 yeah, level wise SHL still on top, but maybe Swiss league more entertaining, more spectacle. Servette just won CHL against Skelleftea and didn‘t make it even to the 1/4 finals in the Swiss league.. so, Swiss league on the rise.

Just letting you know, hovet was built in 1955, and is going to be demolished soon. Avicii Arena is more comparable as its being renovated right now, if you want a modern arena in Stockholm for hockey comparison. Got many newer arenas around the SHL not sure why anybody would think Hovet is a top modern arena, 😂
In algebra two negatives become a plus Mr. Steve. Btw Djurgården translates to animal garden (zoo) and their ultras are called monkeys or other kinds of wild animals (and they behave like it when they lose games).
LOL! Fair enough. Although this double negative was more like a double whammy. It was my mistake. I tried something new and wished I'd just got regular seats in the crowd, somewhere near the red line.
@@JetLagWarriors Yeah well logic dictates that you would get better seats if you pay extra but logics have no power here (Gandalf the grey) it seems.
Also this 3.5% beer is ridiculous.. In Norway you cant buy beer at all if you don´t have ViP seats.
Animal Farm! Awesome name for a team so get lost ya silly wee prick. It’s the name of a beautiful place in the heart of Stockholm where the king did his hunting back in the day. What’s not to like. Love the place, love the club.
