    Stuart you surely have been exploring the limits of the RX10iv and the results are brilliant! Thank you so much for taking the time. I'm encouraged, inspired and motivated seeing how you shoot and what you accomplish with this unique camera. Keep it coming!--Robin, a fan in Uganda!

    Thanks mate. These videos are proving to be invaluable to me in learning the new camera. Really enjoying the process. My canon 750D always seems more difficult to shoot in manual (I’m fully aware that it’s user error btw😂😂) 🙌

      @@sjm.photos 10pm and just got home with sore feet. No easy answer to your question. As brief as possible I went to a Fuji day to try the X-T3 but the rep had a pre production X-Pro3 with him and allowed me to use that for 7 hours instead. I knew after 30 minutes that I wanted one. he even let me test it in the rain next to my Sony A7iii. I now have the X-Pro3 :)
      For me cameras are just tools but as my wife pointed out - back in the 80's one camera did a lot for my skills. No magic wand but I loved the camera so much that I couldn't put it down and took photos of everything that moved and many things that didn't. That camera was the Canon T90 when it was first released. The Fuji X-Pro3 has stirred up that same passion, but it's going to be a Marmite camera. There will be as many that hate it as much as I love it :)
      let me know if you want more info and I'll send it to you via the FB group rather than bore all of your viewers lol

      thanks for watching Mark about £2-10000 times a day would be amazing hehe jokes aside. i never had any training in photography i am totally self taught from the film days and then into digital. i am far from the best photographer in the world. but practice practice practice really can make a difference. we are so lucky today as we can take as many photos as we want until we get it right.. back then with film id be scared to take to many as it wasnt cheap to keep processing films , any questions please ask i will try and help. stu

    I have the same camera and all though I do a lot of photography I am finding this one a mammoth task to get to know all the features, as I am a Nikon user and have been for a very long time moving from Pentax. This is a fab camera and all the lenses are at your fingertips. It’s just the features I find confusing and this one is just a different ball game all together and getting used to how the menu is set up. On Nikon camera’s if you get stuck you only need to press a help button and it explains how to go about it. But on the Sony I cannot find that type of information on the menu?

    • @sjm.photos
      @sjm.photos  Před 3 lety

      i have a newer video where i have gone through the deep menus in more detail also its becomes easier the more you use it but i guess if you do have mulltiple platforms it will be confusing. im sure the sony does have help menus built in not that i have ever used it. but i think if i were to use a nikon i would be lost just as much trying to remember all the functions etc

    Hi Stuart great vids been watching for a while now.... I recently bought the RX10 mk4 ... I think im missing something here, i just watched this video and you mention Scene Selection if its turned on the screen will change if you alter any of the manual settings.... Can you tell me where Scene Selection is so that i can turn it on .... Many thanks and keep up the good work with the video's

    • @sjm.photos
      @sjm.photos  Před 3 lety

      when in manual you can see live what your exposure is going to be basically what you see is what you get, if in studio conditions with off camera flash because the camera doesnt know what the exposure from the flash is going to be. so normally you wont be able to see much so turning it off gives you a conventional look like you are looking down a view finder with just what your eyes can see for example. it should be on as default so switch in to manual mode. if you open your fstop it will get brighter or speed up shutter speed it will get darker etc. hope that made sense. if not i can make a video . stu.

    Just wondering if you feel this is still worth buying in 2020. For the average amateur, this sounds like a great camera, especially for travel, etc. I'd love to have it (unless RX10 V comes out in couple of months) but feel the greatest limit of this becoming a semi-pro camera is the ability to manual zoom - much faster and more control - and the limit of no auto focus while zooming. This is essential for moving subjects such as sports, animals (dog's running at camera), and any action where you need to zoom out as subject gets closer to photographer. Otherwise, nice review.

If you are in high burst mode its in electronic shutter anyway. And it uses a leaf shutter unlike normal cameras
