Absolutely love that sound of it just being locked in and going full throttle!!.. thanks so much bud for your videos!! Even in 2023 it is still the top of the pack. I just bought one, I never thought I would buy one of these super-zoom bridge cameras. It is amazing for it's size and sharpness. With modern noise reduction software, high ISO isn't a big issue either.

When there is a choice between lugging my 200 to 600 or this incredible bridge camera, the choice is easy. Yes, it only has a 1" sensor but I have been bowled over by the results. The only time it let me down was when trying to photograph a train of lights at night. The camera froze. Still not sure what happened, but I am sure if was something I did.

    Hi Stuart, I have recently been a "background" viewer but have just subbed your channel. I am no photographer by anyone's standards, but I have always enjoyed getting out and just taking snaps with my current Sony set up (A7 II and assorted lens), but if I'm honest, I have lost the will to go out, carrying different lens for different situations, getting into a fumble and worst of all, dust on sensor!!!
    My son has recently decided to adopt my old kit but I still have a hankering to get out and snap, so I am seriously looking at the this camera as an option. A simple point and shoot, with a bit of reach, in good light is all I am after and the RX10iv seems to be the ticket. I will order one very soon and start to go through all your videos that relate to this camera in the hope that I become more proficient with it. It only struggles in low light and blurry background due to sensor size. But for the second point, I've seen the images from James and he is able to get very nice blurry backgrounds, so I guess it is me needing to improve my skills hahaha.

    Thanx for the review. I own the Panasonic FZ1000 for the last 6 years now. Good camera. I like it a lot, but now it's starting to show its age. I am thinking either to finally take the step forward in my photography (there are limitations to what a bridge camera can deliver as far as quality goes) and jump to a mirrorless, such as the Sony A6400. But, i am really drooling over the RX10iv, even though it is old, and maybe because of that, because it is amazing and now can be bought for affordable price second hand. Since you seem like an experienced guy, which of the 2 would you choose, and why? Thanx

    • @sjm.photos
      @sjm.photos  Před 2 lety +4

      thanks for the kind words Guy. i owned an a6300 before the rx10iv as a spare camera to go with my other full frame bodies and i actually prefer the rx10iv over the apsc body obviously the a6400 is an updated version of the a6300 but the main reason the rx10iv is so good is because its such a great package of quality zoom speed and even against the beasts of cameras the A1 and A7riva and A9 it still up there. yes not perfect and the buffering is slower than wed like its only real flaw is high iso over 1000 iso is a no go but then we have now topaz noise reduction AI and thats a game changer it easily lets you shoot upto iso 1600 without a problem. id say if you are happy to change lenses and think you might go full frame one day go for the A6400 or if you are happy to stay with an all in one the rx10iv is still a winner. hope that helps

    Honestly, all three version of Sony's RX cameras is all the cameras a pro hobbyist need
    RX100 for the discrete snapshot very easy to bring everywhere, good aperture range if you went with VA, surprising range if you get the Vii
    the RX10ii and earlier are made obselete with the 100 vi release (other than on niche video use that need the ND and static Aperture the whole lens range), but with III and esp IV it has built reputation as a beast of a super zoom camera.
    And the RX1R for the street pothography mood, when you want to be more deliberate in your shots, and demand the best iq possible in a small package, the upgrade to 40+mpix on the mkii make the 35mm lens have more flexibility of range than ever.
    I wish they update every single one of them soon. Give them the new menus! give them 7RV monitors! AI autofocus chip! etc etc.
    They have a place in this post covid world, for sure, so many new creators, so many changes.
    People need to know what Sony can do with small fixed lens cameras again. Every single one of them is a value when you see what they can do, and what you need to pay to get even just slightly better result.
    It's all about the lens with them really, they got that right from the start, now just build the camera behind that lens to be even more capable than ever.

    I need a camera with a 600mm range, but I've only recently found out about the Sony Rx 10M4 camera! In your opinion should I get the Sony Rxm4 or the Sigma 150-600? Use is to make funny youtube videos with hidden camera. Quality and Bokeh are essential.... So which one should I choose?

    • @sjm.photos
      @sjm.photos  Před rokem

      Depends on what camera you already own to put the sigma lens onto but the rx10iv then gives you a 2nd camera also has a huge range of 24-600 so highly useable gives as much bokeh as the sigma lens

  • @PhotoReactionVideos
    @PhotoReactionVideos Před rokem +3

    I bought a Sony RX10 VI when it was first released and the lens was not sharp OR the AF was not working properly. It also had issues with Panoramas where it would stop halfway no matter what I did or what subject I chose to capture. I also did not like that you could not see the Art Filters live, like you can on Olympus and Panasonic cameras. It also does not have built-in ND filters.
    There was many other issues but I know no camera is perfect that’s why currently I run five different systems!
    I am reconsidering it now just for wildlife photography, especially birds in flight so that I do not have to spend $5,500+ on a decent camera and lens. It would also save my back!
    I will just have to test another one in store to ensure that the AF/lens is producing sharp images because my first one simply was not. They were about 75% sharp but that is not good enough.
    I am a retired pro photographer so I like to have sharp images and know how to get them.
    Your images look sharp on all your videos so there is hope that I simply had a faulty camera last time.

    • @sjm.photos
      @sjm.photos  Před rokem +3

      anything man made will have faulty odd ones i think you were unlucky. i have had 2 rx10iv one replaced because i had abused mine massively and sony replaced it as a good will gesture for the price of the replacement lens. its a brilliant bit of kit yep hasnt got everything but we adjust our techniques to get the best from it. ive never bothered with art filters i shoot with it for as realistic photos as i can capture with it. raw and fully manual adjusting on the fly to get the best from it. i have a couple of videos on here and we shot the rx10iv vs a canon 1dx2 + 600mm f4 prime lens about £18000 worth of kit at the time and the rx10iv was producing shots as good as the canon as sharp and as many keepers the only difference was depth of field due to sensor size. yes low light it would have been a little different but now with topaz denoise ai that issue is gone.

      in manual mode the evf and screen will show you a live exposure so if you speed up the shutter speed it will darken or slow it down lighten very very handy for real world shooting without worrying about if your shot will be under or over exposed as you can see its perfect or not live as you shoot. i have a full menu video and some shorter ones in the rx10iv playlist that may help.

    I've had mine now for just under one year.
    I'm a new stills photographer and still learning.
    I have pretty much watched all CZcams videos that describe the Sony RX10M4
    It's a 2017 camera and today' in 2021 cameras have some amazing features -- like faster buffering and faster memory cards, more accurate autofocusing with better eye detection, better battery life, better low light capabilities, and sharper images due to higher megapixels.
    It's a well constructed camera with an excellent deep grip but again is a 2017 camera and I'm looking forward to a refresh unit/ mark 5 or similar camera with better ISO capabilities without noise.
    This camera is a baby A9 and now there is an A9 ii so, I'd at least be able to upgrade to a RX10M4-2 with faster and more accurate auto focusing.
    I'm hoping the new Mark V has the curved sensor that will allow better light-gathering for reduce noise. If they would put a 35 megapixel micro four-thirds sensor with a physically larger lens at half the focal length the camera would be capable of digitally zoom the image and producing better results then the 2017 RX10M4.
