Really helpful mate. Seems like a good starting point for someone like me who is new to this camera and new to wanting to learn manual photography 🙌
no probs
Absolutely, priceless information !
The RX10M4 has so many features it would take years to fully master and you are sharing your years of experience with us !
thankyou. next one tomorrow if there is anything anyone would like in a video comment below and i will do my best
Many thanks! I have only had the camera a few days and the one thing I really was looking for was a way to switch quickly between wide and small spot focus area and you solved that one for me perfectly.
Pleasure , enjoy the camera
I just bought this camera and this video is invaluable, excellent info.
thankyou
Great stuff! Thanks Stuart!
Glad you enjoyed it
Brilliant video! Simple and to the point, and really useful for us newbies who has just gotten the camera! Thanks for explaining all the different options as well. Now: On to the next one!
Thankyou glad it helped
I've enjoyed watching many of your videos about this camera including this one. I'm just wondering if you did a Part 2...
At the end of this video is the next video options is part 2 czcams.com/video/5Y6KFOcxoFk/video.htmlfeature=shared
Great Job Stuart! I really learned a lot. Thank you very much!
thankyou for the kind words and im happy i helped you. enjoy the camera
A great update on the neverending Sony menu structure. Although I've had my RX10iv for a number of years there is always something new to pick up. Thank you for taking the time to do this vid. I make myself a cup of tea and just settle down with my camera and follow along.
thankyou for the kind words the thing is its all pretty similar on all sony cameras most of the set ups i have my a7riv and rx10iv almost the same the a7riv has more options but still the basics are set up so i can pick up either and use with out thinking to much. more videos coming along this line thankyou again
Excellent Stuart will be watching them all, hope to get one soon 👍
Good video Stuart, I’m still getting my head around my RX10iv especially in low light conditions I’m always conscious about bumping the iso up. Is there a limit you would go to with your iso?
1600iso is useable
Great information
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, this is so helpful. I’ve only had the camera for a few days so any help is great. I’ve come from a canon system which is very different. Now to get used to jumping back and forward between cameras 😂
lots more videos i have made you might find handy or if you get stuck give me a shout.
Hello there, fantastic info, much appreciated.
Quick question?. do you use back button focus on the camera, what are your thought's regarding this mode if using this mode do you have to continuously hold AF on button when taking photo's
thankyou and i have not used back button focus sinse i ditched my dslr back in 2014 ish and went mirrorless personally i dont find it any more beneficial but then its all about personal choice and what works for you. i have set it up and used it for a while and a friend uses it on his A1 so if i borrow that i have to remember to use it lol. but dont really miss it.
Your videos are so helpful. I don't shoot video so I will need to set C2 for something else. AndI I notice you use, what I call, a full display on your camera. As a novice, I find myself spending time trying to figure out what all the icons means. Which display recommended for a beginner or is it just personal preference? Histogram, probably.
thankyou for watching i think like everything the more you use something the easier it becomes to use and then you will get more from it. its all personal choice and what people like. i shoot full manual all the time and flick between iso manually shutter and fstop some people like to use auto iso but i like to be in full control. id reccomend reading the manual and looking and playing with the camera. i do have another video which is about 45 mins long but my full set up that i personally used apart from a couple of changes i have now
I think that your videos are just great, however, there are presets that appear off in my RXIV for example, lock on af expand flexible spot, etc, etc. You do not explain clear enough for beginners like me the steps carefully, you are talking how you have set all for you but, do not explain how we can do it in an easy way. I really need help to set this camera, is getting me crazy! Send you many greetings from Germany!
Can't find find focus magnifyer as an option for custom 1 button.. Any ideas?
menu. purple camera 2 page 9 , custom key shoot, custom button 1 or which ever one you wanna use. page 11 focus assist . focus magnifier is the top one
What is the depth of the camera from the front of the lens to the back of body when it is completely off?
5.2 x 3.7 x 5.7" / 132.5 x 94 x 145 mm
Thank you.
When mine is on the S or M setting the screen goes very dark
if scene setting is on it will show you a live exposure of how the camera is set or does it do it all the time no matter what?
@@sjm.photos It only happens on the S and M setting with higher shutter speeds. I want high shutter speeds to shoot flying birds and the sports scene setting doesn't really have high shutter speeds but it does have a light image on the screen
yes so you need to open your fstop or up the iso. or use it in auto iso
My comments keep disappearing.
what did u say because this one is still here ?
@@sjm.photos
It was about the eyepiece.
I actually saved my reply in a document and just tried pasting it here and it still rejects it.
Yes, of course I can focus the EVA using the optometer dial, but that's not the problem.
The eye piece is supposed to reduce the amount of light as much as possible and make for a more comfortable experience.
When you're wearing glasses, it does neither.
In fact, it increases the amount of light getting in because the glasses push my eye further from the EVA, and the rubber cup is way too small for the glasses. It's designed to fit snugly between the bridge of your nose and your eye socket.
I would have to use a blanket over my head like the old box brownies.
Luckily, I was able to stretch it over the EVA without the heat treatment so I can return it undamaged.
