Goat Rocks and Old Snowy form what is left of the rim of a giant extinct volcano. The Knife’s Edge is also part of it. The bowl and basin after that is inside the ancient volcano. My daughter and I spent 5 days there earlier this month. Unfortunately for us we got rained and fogged out the day we hit Cispus Pass. But we spent a lot of time on Old Snowy after the weather cleared, taking a nap in one of the bivvies at the summit! Such an amazing area! Great video. Love your commentary and your perspective! BTW. The area does get its name from the native mountain goat herds there.

I've learned that there are very few "wrong" decisions. We make choices based on the information we have. I think it's a great idea to do that 60 mile road walk once you've reached the end though! Beautiful scenery! When you were talking about goat rocks before, I was picturing some type of rock scrambling situation.

I believe one's decisions are generally the right decisions. One can always "what if' but you are making great progress and will complete the miles you were forced to skip.soon enough. Maybe you didn't have a continuous footpath but wow what an amazing trip you have had and in the end you will have hiked the entire PCT. What an accomplishment. Loved watching Boogie's video on his almost last day and how he shared he fondness of you and told the story of you showing him how to correctly pitch his tent after 500 days into hiking!!! You have met some amazing people on this trail and although I was very sad at the way your first tramily parted, it ended up by your meeting some incredible and loyal friends. Take care of that knee, I noticed your wrap was missing later in the hike.

Darn, the goats didn't come out to greet you! There are mountain goats in the area from Cispus through Knife's Edge. Sometimes they are on the trail, sometime above it below trail. On clear days as in your video a hiker can scan the rocks and see the goats even if they are standing on a snowfield. I've seen goats on the lower slope of Mt Adams near Bird Lake and the ridge above (on the reservation). There are also goats in Olympic NP and Alpine Wilderness Area, all in Washington.

The views are what I enjoy most since I know I may only ever see PCT views on videos from hikers like yourself. I do enjoy your philosophical chats too. When I scroll past ads on the Internet I scroll more quickly past the young faces that are too close, too loud and talking too fast. I find them to be aggressive ads that feel offensive. Of course this could be because I'm old 😅
But more scenery would be a plus in your videos ❤

You are fit enough to climb Rainier with a guide when you’re finished. Incredible experience- do it! PS- I understand the joy of solo hiking but those “bumps” you were on were dangerous. A broken leg or serious fall- bleeding requires assistance. I’m too old to take that chance anymore 😮

Morning, Juliane. Wow! Absolutely awesome views today. The waterfall was gorgeous. Nice trail. Beautiful fields and forest. Great video. Glad you were able to see Somewhere. She does seem to just appear and disappear out of nowhere. So funny. You are doing so well on this trail. Hard to believe that we're still seeing snow in August. I'm sure you're amazed you're still walking on snow in August. Just never know what you're going to find out there. Glad you found a great campsite. I've found that usually things have a way of working out like they are supposed to happen through no planning. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.

You totally had me giggling at the end. Spontaneity at its best.
The area is called "Goat Rocks Wilderness" and it is all pretty, like "The Sierra".
When you can see Mt Rainier, aka Tahoma, aka (from Skokomish tribe legend) "Taco Bud" on a clear day, we say "the mountain is out!"
I hike in trees a lot and my Garmin can get irritating. Sometimes when Im at a spot like your view spot, I send a qick preset followup and it will bump both mssgs out.
As for your face. You my dear, have a lovely face and it is so fun to watch your expressions when you talk!
