I think you are perfectly fine on time, Oregon won’t be more then a month, same with Washington so even if you took til the end of July to finish California you would still finish in September which is well before winter. Keep up the great work.

You're right on schedule with your hike, there's plenty of time to reach the Canadian border, but there are many unknowns that could interfere and banked miles won't make a difference. Hike your own hike and know that you'll make smart adjustments when necessary. I hope to see you at PCT Days and buy you guys a beer, or two 😉 (also help you navigate any gear needs in Portland).

You are doing fine on miles to finish you will find u r going to finish much earlier than u think. Happy trails. Ps they changed the valve due to leaks it did not help. Plus dont stress or 30 miles no problem. Shasta is grear.

BTW - did anyone comment about your thumb "cracks". How are they doing? It is a form of eczema. Very painful. If you can find a doctor to prescribe Fluocinide Ointment it would really help. If not, wash with soap, apply 2 layers liquid bandage (it will hurt), and keep covered with several bandages and do not peek for several days. Air exposure will make it hurt worse. Good luck. I think your mileage will be fine, not many can do over 15 in the High Sierra Mountains. You will increase soon.

You’re already well ahead of my 2015 schedule and have plenty of time before winter. Fires can happen anytime so pushing yourself for extra miles for that reason probably not worth it. If I could go back in time I might actually slow my pace a bit and keep allowing for zeros here and there for body recovery time.

IMO you're doing extremely well provided you do your expected mile increase. And I don't see why you shouldn't. Doing 20+ and even 30-mile days is fairly "easy" in northern California, Oregon and southern Washington without snow. Be careful with town days though. Rest is important, but long/difficult hitchhikes, missing a post office open hours before a week end etc. can easily cost many hours or even more than a day unplanned and unwanted waiting. I don't like eating dinner, then hike again but it's a super efficient method to get a couple of extra miles done. You get a real long break and rest before doing the last miles. Also, if you plan to dry camp you can save carrying a lot of water by eating near the last water source before the dry stretch.

For me for over 50 years is a pump filter ,, Never had a problem on trail and never needs back flushing on trail ... replace filter beginning of each year (which is premature) but eliminates the hassle entirely ...

.. Crazy long miles ,, not for me but you all did well .... Sometimes when in bear country ,, it's a good habit to stop and eat then hike a distance to find camp to try and be without the smell of food ...

They want to meet up with family so it makes sense to bank those zeros.

I’m here in Oregon, and I’m about to backpack up to Paradise park on Mt Hood on Tuesday. There is no rush to get up here quickly, because Summer has just begun here. Mt Hood still has a ton of snow, and you’re going to fly through Oregon when you get here, super flat comparatively speaking. Also, skip the breakfast buffet at Timberline because it sucks now. Time it for the lunch buffet, it’s way better.

I was expecting you will get to this stage. It's always like that around end of June/early July. People start calculating instead of hiking. The ones that commented do not know better than you on the actual trail this year. You might do 45miles a day but be stuck because of forest fires, or you might do 20 a day and get to Canada with no issues. Hike. Do math when you finish Oregon. It's too early for that now.

One of your many strengths is your ability to happily adapt your hiking style to suit your needs. I had to grab the peanut butter jar after seeing you and Boujee chowing down on some.

A good hole finding trick is to put some mint oil in the chanber. If you have a hole you'll smell it easier than trying to find a tiny hole. It's a trick we'd use when testing fire suppression systems. If the system wasn't holding pressure you'd charge the system full of air and walk the building until you smell mint

Speaking of mileage per day, I am more concerned with somewhere (the hiker) since she also wants to finish the AT this year. I think the rest of you will be just fine.
